My husband booked a business meeting at convention center along w/rooms & dinner. Dinner at MOOR was just ok, based on group of 18 if you ordered the fish it was good otherwise mediocre for other meals & our server was less than pleasant. We spent over $1500- We saw ‘evidence‘ of either housekeeping or the previous guest in our ‘cleaned’ room- gross! The coffee place employees weren’t very friendly either and most of the staff was this way. Unpleasant, def not happy to be there. The pool attendants were the worst. We were given wristbands and their main priority was having personal conversations w/ each other versus taking care of guests that were coming in for the day. I had to interrupt their conversations just to get pool towels on two different occasions. We also overheard on more than one occasion issues and problems they were having with other guests. We overheard one pool attendant employee call another guest by a foul name when speaking to other employees. Guests should never know what’s going on w/ others in hotel. We knew exactly who they were speaking about. Highly unprofessional. I ordered food by the pool and the service was good. Ian was a great attentive waiter! He kept up w/ us all day & was very nice; however just like with the other restaurant in the hotel the food was just mediocre at best, again. The best meal we had was at Wreckers Sports Bar and it was also the best service that we had the entire visit which we were thankful for. The hotel itself is really beautiful, the imagination that it took to build and create is spectacular. Rooms are nothing special, atrium view was cool however loud at moments but not much of an issue for us. Size of room was good-bed comfortable. Housekeeping needs work for sure & we didn’t see a lot of precautions taken- definitely lacking in that department w/ Covid a concern. It was SO packed- maybe they just couldn’t keep up. We definitely felt like a nuisance to the staff and we never complained one time to anybody, so that isn’t the reason. I’m sharing our concerns here but we did not complain to anyone on the property while we were visiting. This is simply my observation and personal opinion. After all was said and done my husband’s company spent almost $15,000 for our two day visit and we left one night early. The parking fee what are you self park or do you valet is out of control. The valet definitely does not have a system, we called down for our car when we were leaving 20 minutes prior coming to pick up the car and they had not even gone to get it. Waited another 20+ minutes before it finally arrived. That’s 40 minutes for the valet to get our car. Needless to say, we will have our annual meetings for my husband‘s company elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. Although we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your dinner at one of our restaurants and found our atrium and resort grounds to be beautiful, we would like to sincerely apologize about your experience here at the resort. The experience you had with the guest service our associates provide as well as the opportunities you encountered with Valet, the pool area and additional concerns is certainly not our standard. It was a pleasure hosting you and we appreciate the review. With feedback like yours, we can really get the full scope of areas we need to work on to enhance our guest’s experience. Our team strives to provide world class customer service and we always want each one of our guests to feel like they are taken care of in every aspect of their stay. Please be assured your comments have been shared with our leadership team and will be reviewed and addressed internally. Thank you again for the review and we hope you will give us the opportunity to host you in the future.

This is a very cool hotel very pretty -- fun stuff to do - spacious -- ate at the pool side bar -- everyone was friendly food was good-- Water park was great - didn't have to leave the hotel - inside the atrium you could venture around. only downside to us was the pool deck -- chairs were very limited and tied together and many were reserved for a cost and most were empty so no one could use. I just felt like sardines sitting by the pool side. Very glad we were at a business/relax conference because we received a discount of $140 I really don't think I would pay $500 a nite - there are too many other resorts in the area I liked better. But the resort was clean - was able to check in early - had issue with no light in bathroom and they came and fixed it All was being cleaned and wiped down as you walked around Alot of great little shops inside to shop around and places to get snacks and quick bites and also full luxury dinners

I stayed at the Gaylord Palms 4/29 - 5/3 and this is a nice property, not all of our experiences were bad, and I am definitely aware of service needing to ramp up after the impact of the pandemic, however keeping service levels up is key to customer retention. Day 1 after checking in and getting settled, we were tired from traveling, so we decided to order room service. First calling and waiting on hold for 14 minutes, we were told to access the menu online (none in the room). We had to call again and wait another 15 minutes to get someone to take our order. An hour later when we received our order, the only thing didn't taste horrible was the tomato bisque. With it being so late and the previous hold times in ordering I was tired and not in the mood to wait on hold yet again that night to call on food quality. The next day we decided to eat poolside hoping for a better experience, one item ordered was the blackened fish sandwich. It was served direct from the refrigerator, literally cold, and had no "blackened" seasoning. The vegetables/hummus and fries were ok. Drinks were pricey, but decent. That night my daughter and her friends decided to each at Villa de Flora, which of course was probably a mistake, she's 14, and it was a buffet style restaurant. She had 2 chicken fingers and some cold tater-tots. She was charged $54. Again $54. I called the restaurant to ask if they had a rate for children and the fact that the staff should use discretion hosting younger customers to advise them of the cost prior (with tact to not insult). The manager said "I understand, but there's nothing I can do about that now as the charge posted yesterday." This is absolutely false, my wife was a Director of Finance for Marriott for many years, this is example of an employee that didn't want to take to time to take care of a guest. We did eat at Wreckers a couple times, seemed like the only restaurant/outlet that had it together. Good food, decent pricing, good service. Also, I stopped going to the Starbucks for our breakfasts after I saw the condition they would leave it in after closing. It was in full view of everyone walking by. So after some failed attempts to address our experiences at the property and filling out the post stay, but receiving no positive response I am posting her. This isn't what I expect from Marriott, and especially not a Gaylord property.

This resort is beautiful and a lot of fun for the kids. They loved the water park and the flow rider was great (the guys teaching the kids on Sunday 7/18 were so patient and encouraging). The lazy river had very attentive life guards as well. I noticed they closely watching everyone and quickly checking every time they heard a scream. We booked a sun bed which I recommend because i heard a lot of people saying they couldn’t find seating at the water park. Our room was like new and really clean and quiet. There are some issues. I think staffing is still recovering from Covid. Check in was long and frustrating. We didn’t get clear direction to our room and 2/3 key cards stopped working. None worked at the self parking gate. We also had the app that was supposed to be used as a key but that never worked. I called the desk twice on Sunday for a hair dryer and after 2 hours, gave up on waiting and went to dinner with wet hair. I even asked if I could walk down to pick one up and was told I couldn’t. Weird being so expensive and not having a hair dryer in the room. The only restaurant that wasn’t “booked” all weekend was the buffet which was great for breakfast but even looking at the restaurants they seemed half empty but I couldn’t get a reservation. Again I think a lot of the minor issues were due to staffing shortages which seems to be everywhere so we would still go back for sure. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and welcoming.

What we liked: Grounds and scenery magnificent. Waterpark was amazing- The lazy river was the hit of the trip. Pool side drink service was excellent. Nice balcony view to the atrium. Valet was quick and efficient Worth mentioning: I didn’t mind paying (30 per chair afternoon) for premium poolside seating, but enforcement was lax, a lot of people were using the reserved seating without wrist bands and we constantly experienced people leaving clothing, footwear and life jackets in our chairs while we were in the lazy river. Rooms were nice and bathroom had two sinks, but the tub and toilet area was consistent with a Hampton Inn. Poor Needs Improvement: Check in line on a Wednesday afternoon was 30-40 minutes. The menu selections were limited, uninteresting and uninspiring. The food was pricey, but I expected that. I ordered a steak the first night. The steak was good, but the Brussels sprouts were not good and the potatoes were terrible. The soup was lukewarm and had to be sent back to be heated up. The burgers, chicken finger and hot dogs were good, but that’s all I ended up eating for most of the stay. I came with money to spend, but found myself wanting to leave the resort to eat. Gaylord should consider upscale eating options, Indian, Asian or possibly Upscale southern Cuisine. Check out was at 11 am and they were not flexible. The only time we heard from housekeeping during our 2 night stay, was housekeeping banging on the door at 9am on checkout day asking when we were leaving. Even with the gripes, we would visit again due to the scenery and water park.
