We stayed in a beach front room in July 2021 Pros -Right on the beach -Chairs and umbrellas available to rent on beach -Housekeeping request responded to quickly -Pool was clean -Beach was clean -sand was white and fine -parking available -good WiFi in room and pool Cons -room door has to be slammed in order to properly lock and was hard to open. -Pool Towel availability limited in the afternoon. On our last day the towels were not replenished after 2:30 and bins overflowing with dirty towels -Cordless phone in room didn’t work -Asked front desk for quarters to use for laundry and after twice being told to return in 30-60 minutes as they had some in their “internal bank”, they finally admitted they didn’t have any available. Wished they had just been honest at first request. They said they’d text us when they had some. I’m still waiting for that text. -Beach water had a lot of Algae. Some days were better than others -there seemed to be quite a few groups who came to use pool that were not staying at hotel. It does not seem parking restrictions for guests only are enforced. -one bed smelled like maple syrup -beds seemed to be full size and not queen size as stated on website Overall I was disappointed in our stay and we don’t plan to return

Don’t stay her. $700 a night for moldy bathroom, dirty floors and something on the comforters that has me absolutely disgusted. The only thing, at this hotel, that is reflective of Marriott is the sign out front. We knew this was an older hotel & took it because we wanted to extend our stay another night. We drove from Panama City Beach Ft. Walton & we were incredibly disappointed to discover lacking the hotel is. The carpets are worn & stained, our feet were black when we came in. 100% not Marriott standards.

We have never been to Fort Walton/Destin so we were unsure where to book. We are Marriott Elite Status and wanted to use points to book. I am glad I used points because if I had paid cash I would have been disappointed in what we got. We could only book a standard room using points but were upgraded to the beachfront building. The front desk staff was very pleasant. It was evident that the rooms had been updated -especially the bathroom. I think they should have stuck with tile floors through out the room. It was impossible to keep the sand out of the room and I can't imagine how much sand must be in the carpet. I don't know what the standard courtyard rooms looked like but they weren't very appealing from the outside. I wasn't impressed with the housekeeping. The entry floor felt sandy so I requested a broom to be able to sweep up the sand - since I didn't have a dust pan I just swept it into the closet which was also tile. When I laid down to sleep I looked up at the ceiling and it looked like either mold or something. I think it must have collected from the A/C unit blowing. It did wipe off easily but this is something housekeeping should check. I also found a piece of gum stuck to the top of the head board. The room had a large refrigerator, not a mini frig which was nice to keep drinks and sandwiches items in for a quick lunch. The hotel only had their grill open for breakfast and for lunch and early drinks. The breakfast choices were limited but tasty. The staff at the grill was friendly and I think the best part of the stay. The beach itself was amazing and since we were out most of the day the room was tolerable and the balcony did have a nice view. It would be tough if rained and you had to spend much time in the room. I would recommend demolishing the courtyard rooms and rebuilding from scratch.

We have stayed here over the last several years and have always had a wonderful experience however, we were very disappointed this time. The grounds were not kept up, speakers were not working near the pool, building maintenance not taken care of. We also reserved a room with 2 queen beds however they were 2 full size beds. (We measured). The view from the ocean front room is nice but don't look straight down su ce there is clothing, rusted and holey roof below. The front desk clerk was friendly but the lack of property maintenance is unacceptable. Our room had a connecting door and the lock was broken so the fix was to drag the dresser to prevent it from being opened...seriously this is someone being lazy. The ceiling had what looked to be mold. Just not a very good experience this trip.

The rooms are updated and new and if you get a beach view it ceratinly is a beautiful view, but that is the only nice thing to be send for this hotel and that is where the cleanliness stops. The outside of the hotel has a motel vibe, could use a coat of paint and cleaning in the worst way. The garbage piles up and are labeld with laminated "trash" signs over them. What else would a garbage pail be used for and what goes on there that is needs to be labeled? The trash does not get taken out often enough as there was garabage left besides them and overflowing out of them. At night if you are going to your room located past the main area (beach side) you have to go in a dingy and not well lit parking lot in order to get to a creepy elevator and/or use the stairwell, which also gives off a creepy/unsafe vibe. This hotel is not worth the $400+ a night. I realize there are not a lot of hotel options in Destin sadly but you are without a doubt getting ripped off if you are paying $400+ a night to stay here surrounded by unkept grounds, trash and feeling unsafe!
