The hotel is pretty and the location couldn’t be better. However, my room had a couple of issues and one was very serious: the water in the shower wouldn’t drain because the stopper was stuck. Then, the floor on one side of the room was wet which made the room stink. The engineer claimed the AC had a leak. Funny thing is, he showed up and changed the filter in the AC in the wall and the leak seemed to have stopped. I was at that hotel for only 2 nights. So I didn’t want to move rooms on the 2 night, but I was extremely glad to be out of there after the 2nd night. After talking to the front desk staff three times about the same issues I was having, another guest advised me to ask for a credit or some type of concession. I did and was offered $60 discount on my bill. I will say that the breakfast from the restaurant downstairs was pretty good on the first day. However, wait times to be seated was too long and the servers, who were older Caribbean men, seemed overworked, overwhelmed and nervous. Twice, we saw them drop the dishes on the dining area and one time my server spilled the coffee all over my table. Finally, the hotel is undergoing a major construction with the construction crew all over the lobby area in the middle of the day banging and nailing stuff and talking aloud the whole time. The hotel just seemed very poorly run.

I spent forever looking for just the right place to stay while in the area for 5 days. I was bringing two teens to a music festival and needed things for all of us during down time. Not big into the touristy beach spots. This place was absolutely perfect. The facility itself was outstanding. We stayed in the executive tower, I treated myself to a king suite. The boys were in a double Queen. Honestly I wouldn't have been just as happy in the queen, it was too hot to enjoy the balcony in the suite. The rooms are huge and very well appointed with extremely comfortable beds. We had views of the New River. The location was right in the middle of the River walk. 100% walkable and safe to so many restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the water taxi on a down day, great way to be in the water, see the beautiful homes and learn about the celebrity owners, well worth the price. We jumped off and spent some time at Fort Lauderdale Beach, then back on, back to the hotel. There's also a free water taxi running up and down the river. I spent much of my free time near the river. The pool is not huge, but the location and availability of loungers more than made up for it. I can't speak for the restaurants, with the exception of my son and his friend not being seated at The Boathouse Restaurant. They were told "their system was down", I wasn't told that 10 minutes later. I just felt like they might not have wanted them. Their loss and possibly my missinterpratation. Lastly, everyone at the hotel displayed remarkable customer service skills. A special shout out to Lori at the front desk, who can help you with anything! A couple of notes. They are remodeling the lobby, really a non issue for us. Wasn't planning on hanging around there anyway. Also they are not doing daily cleaning, but providing supplies at your door. Actually, I didn't mind that at all. If we needed anything all we needed to do was call.

I attest that HR takes hospitality seriously at this classic hotel. Everyone is cheerful and upbeat. The staff seems eager to assist, which really offset some minor issues, namely that I checked into the hotel undergoing renovations. That soon will pass. My only complaint is that their food and beverage services close at 10PM, no exceptions. If Riverside wants to attract international travelers and be seen as a world-class hotel, keep one of the restaurants open past midnight. Because in my case, my flight arrived +3 hours late. I was hungry and irritated. Consequently I ate next door when the hotel had an opportunity to increase its revenue potential from me. If Riverside wishes to up its game, management should commit themselves to what is convenient to its guests, not to the operating statement.

My family stayed at this hotel this past week! A huge thank you to Lori and the entire staff! This is a gem of a hotel right on Los Olas! The room rates are very fair, the hotel is clean, the views from the 11th floor were fantastic, it is steps from the RiverWalk, the outdoor pool is terrific! The convenience of walking to so much was a huge advantage! I will now always stay here! I mean it, it is perfect!
