As Titanium Elite Bonvoy status and Marriott Vacation Club owners we expect and always receive excelled service. However such was not the case upon check-in at this property late November. After an exhausting road trip from Ottawa Ontario Canada we were shown a room that was can be best described at 'Hotel California', a musty smell, stained carpets, food crumbs on the floor and obviously not updated in many years. We are familiar with Residence Inns, just returning from Steele Creek in Charlotte, we have stayed at the Millenia property in Orlando and numerous stays in Montreal. We were shown another room on the first floor which was not much better. At that point it was just time to get out of that property and stay elsewhere like the new Springhill Suites on the island. Immediately it was obvious that the front desk clerk was reluctant to offer us a full refund of our Bonvoy points that we worked so hard to accumulate during the year. We were left to fend for ourselves spending almost an hour on the phone with the Bonvoy call center. We were requested, actually demanded by the same front desk clerk to pay the first night at $200 in order to have our points returned to our account. We reluctantly complied, related the sad news to the good folks at Bonvoy who opened up a case number to return the $200 to our credit card. A few days later the $200 has been settled. The hotel had the gall to charge us another $135 pet fee, Yes little Baxter was with us, but we never stayed at the property. As of writing the $135 plus tax has not yet been returned to our credit card. I have been contacting Bonvoy waiting patiently. Concluding this is textbook in how not to honor and respect a Titanium Elite Marriott member. We are now at the Springhill on Amelia being treated like royalty with the expectations we have experienced with the Marriott brand for so many years. It would have been a gesture in good faith for Marriott to recognize our frustrations and offer a further concession like depositing a generous amount of Bonvoy points into our account.

Excellent hotel. Everything was top notch. Very clean hotel. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Stayed over Thanksgiving and the complimentary Thanksgiving dinner the night before was an over the top bonus. Outdoor sitting area with fire pit, gas grills, putting green, pool etc was great experience. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Kudos to Jessica and Sandra. We spent 2 wonderful tho cold and rainy nights on our way elsewhere, after confirming a pet room 2nd floor at rear of property via telephone 5 weeks prior. Before checkout we did same at front desk for one night following weekend to ease drive home. Upon arrival second visit 7pm after a grueling all day drive, were assigned 1st floor in undoubtedly worst room on premises. Clerk did pull sheet to verify no other room available. Mgr on duty, Robyn, said they couldn't "hold" certain rooms for guests and there was "nothing I can do" and that hotel was sold out (quick search marriott app showed 3 room types available for check-in asap). I asked for waiver of pet fee or extra points bonvoy account and again received the "nothing..." response to which I reminded her there was something she could do. To add insult to injury, she handed me 2 dog biscuits and a small bag of caramel corn! I requested contact gen mgr. (3 filthy coffee cups in cabinet of room kitchen, no sponge nor dish soap, no internet connection and only view generator). 3 days later no management contact, so shared all info with marriott corporate. Another 2 days later, I received email from gen mgr Bob Hartman verifying their policy not to guarantee room location and that they "should have done better", nothing more. My return email expressed disappointment at lack of concern or action to rectify bad situation and stressing that we won't return. Also suggested training for staff; no one on some training manual, apparently. Fl hospitality industry hard hit past 18 months. We have remained loyal to Residence Inn, taking several staycations since covid reopenings with no problems 2 other locations. We could have and will spend money at other lodging!

This week my husband and I stayed for the first time at the Residence Inn Amelia Island, and it won't be the last. We loved it and may have a new favorite. We are long time Marriott fans and the Residence Inn is our particular favorite in the Marriott's 'stable' of options. The Amelia Island Residence Inn showed us just how great a Residence Inn can be. It's very pretty and very up to date, the staff is wonderful - especially Jessica who directed us to the Residence Inn when we called to say we were lost, checked us in, recommended a great spot for a late lunch and then told that that we could get a glass of champagne later in the day. This brings things to a new level! This Residence Inn has a flair that matches the overall casual flair of Amelia Island, and it's well located close to the beachfront section of the island. We really loved many of the touches at this Residence Inn which happens to be clean, clean, clean. There are plastic food and water bowls with the Marriott logo (and treats) for pet owners, outside the front door is a smooth 'apron' flat with the driveway which means you can roll luggage carts easily in and out (no creeping along the sidewalk to the single 'curb cut' of many Residence Inns and Courtyards. The bathroom design is really great and we especially loved the double 'handicap bars' at either end of the shower - very thoughtful. Overall you feel very strongly there is a great manager behind the success of the Residence Inn - someone not only with great ideas but the energy to implement them, and who can also choose great staff and motivate them. Great stay. Great alternative if you are in the Fernandina/Amelia area. The hotel is in great shape. Very clean and everything in order. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was perfect. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast was fine, although we missed the pork sausages and breakfast potatoes the second day on Sunday. We went to Fernandina for a leisure weekend. Not being big college football fans we were not aware that big Florida/Georgia game was in Jacksonville and not in Gainesville. Initially we were concerned that the hotel was going to be somewhat rowdy with all the fans in the area and the hotel, but everything was quiet and perfect.
