We cold not have been happier. It fit our expectations and budget perfectly. The room was neat and clean. It is an "older" facility, but the place is well taken care of. Sherri and John were so accommodating to our needs. The beach in early March was almost ours alone. If you want private and peaceful, this is the place to go. Do not expect daily service to your room. You are pretty much left alone and can get what you need when you need it. The kitchen and bathroom is good enough to take care of what you need but it is simple, small. Just what we expected and needed to have a fantastic stay with people that take care of their guests needs. The pool and spa are clean and heated.

We really loved this place. Cool, laid-back 50's vibe. However, we were there in May and was during lovebug season. Had never heard of these bugs before and we basically spent 3 days in our unit. This was our time away that we work hard for and was sad and disappointed. Was a hastle to even walk from unit to the car. Spent most of our time inside stores. Last morning there the bugs almost gone but we had to catch our flight.

Did research on these bugs.
Really advise staying away in late April/early May or in September. Really wish we could have been warned about this.

Will be going back in November.

Response from John T, General Manager at Beach Island Resort

I am so sorry that your visit coincided with our biannual lovebug invasion. In recent years the nuisance has been tolerable....unfortunately this time it was rough going! Unfortunately the severity nor the timing is not easy to predict we do know that they are only here for a short visit usually not more than a few days, but if those days are during your time away and we are sorry. We would like to make it up to you somehow! Give me a call we will figure something out!! 321.784.5720

WOW!!! We didn’t expect to be staying at such a historical resort/hotel. They are keeping to “old Florida” vibe. It is one of the oldest resorts in Cocoa Beach. I was amazed to learn at some of the early astronauts stayed here. We saw them replacing & updating their units. They have a beautiful heated pool(winter) & hot tub and the best part is they are right on the beach. The other people that are staying here are SO friendly and like to visit. They gave us excellent suggestions as to places to eat and places to go see. It’s so relaxing and kick back.
We are planning on staying here again!!!

We made reservations with John in March for our visit in June. John was polite and flexible with our stay dates. I began calling Thursday morning at 9am when our flight arrived to inquire about check in time. No one answered and voicemail was full, unable to leave a message. So we drove to the location to check in, office was closed and locked, again no one answering phone calls and unable to leave a message. We did come across other guests who were staying and they stated they had not seen much of John and Sherri during their stay. They directed us to the room that John and Sherri live in, we knocked for 15 minutes with no one answering. They made apologies for the situation.
We were forced to find another accommodation for our week long vacation. Luckily we found a very nice place about 1/4 mile from this location.
I hope these owners read this and maybe sell their resort to new owners who can properly manage the resort.

Our unit had the following: broken bathroom lock, broken bathroom fan, broken range hood light, broken/missing window covers, rusted fridge, rusted range, dirty/stained couch. This place is in a superior location on the beach. It may have been great years ago, but there is absolutely no evidence that any unit upgrades have been performed in decades. I don't typically like to post any adverse reviews, but this is not a 4.5 star resort which is the reason we selected it. While not a real factor in the rating, the units are on the small side, and the pool is pretty much just a kiddie-pool. If all you're looking for is beach front, then go for it, but if the unit itself is important, then avoid.

The resort does not look like any RCI resort in quality for RCI member to go. Appliances and funitures are old, refrigerator is rusty. Rooms are very small for two bedrooms resort. It is very difficult to reach resort and on site services are very poor.

Fix the green pool. It is MAY in Florida. Not everyone wants to swim in the Ocean or go out and get all sandy. Fix the plumbing so water is not shut off for 6 hours for everyone. Fox the tvs and the ac. This place has just went so downhill year after year. Save yourself the headache and money. I don’t know who thinks they can run a “resort” in the current condition that it is in. It’s 2023. Your competition is going to put you out of business FAST. If you, as a visitor will be in CB for more than a day, find somewhere else to stay.

The Beach Island Resort is a layed back kind of vacation place. It offers the basic necessities needed for a comfortable stay. The brightly painted buildings are funky retro. We loved staying there! The beach is accessed over a short boardwalk. We were so lucky to view some spectacular sunrises and a rocket launch from NASA. We will definitely be looking to go back there again!

Tired from working all day I decided to stay at the place I DJ at. It was an easy process to reserve. Check in was great with Heather at the desk. It's a cozy place that feels beach side. The pools are amazing and I got a good view. I'll stay again.

Answer from John T
Cocoa Beach, Florida
Sorry we are unable to help you with long term parking, we have limited parking as things are now. When are you coming to town the city of Cocoa Beach is building to large parking facilities right down town you might want to check with them !!!
Answer from Saltwater Living
Cocoa Beach, Florida8 contributions1 helpful vote
Sorry, but Beach Island Resort can not accommodate a large vehicle in their parking lot, because it is right on the main highway, A1A (AKA S Atlantic Ave) you might be able to park it at the public metered parking just about 20 yards away. If you stay at the resort they will give you a parking pass. Enjoy yourselves 🤗
