First off, Amy and Belle are super nice and kudos to housekeeping. This was our first vacation in 5 years... Never again at this hotel. We've stayed in nicer hotels with larger rooms and pools for much less. For a pet friendly hotel, there isn't rally anywhere for your dog to do his business unless you walk along the busy highway to the neighborhood behind. What little patch of green there is at the hotel, you're likely to step in someone else's stinky business. So much for please clean up after your pet! Our double room was incredibly small to accommodate a dog crate even after rearranging furniture. You can barely move in the tiny bathroom. Very noisy being right on the main road. I don't know about the renovation that supposedly took place, seemed pretty lacking all around- especially the exterior. The nightstand USB/AC outlets didn't work. The shower and sink were old, outdated, and the shower curtain smelled funky. The dog shower on the premises is a converted mini tub with an old, leaky hose. It is centrally located and within walking distance of downtown, although getting in and out of the parking lot was sometimes tricky. Aside from the aforementioned staff, this hotel is only good if you need basic accommodations during the week. Otherwise, definitely not worth $200 for weekends.…
This hotel is a good, basic hotel if you go to Dewey Beach but don’t need to be right smack in the middle of it all in town. The hotel actually is a seven minute walk to the beach as advertised (and I timed it). The hotel is family and dog friendly which is nice, even though I hadn’t brought my pup. Check in was seamless and the hotel staff is extremely friendly and will answer any questions you may have about the area. If you’re lucky you will meet the owner’s dogs, Zoey and Zane… both really sweet puppies!! My room had a king bed and it really was so much nicer to have vinyl plank flooring instead of a dirty rug in the room. A small table and chair set up made it easy to have breakfast. The room was clean, had a fridge, microwave, iron & board, hair dryer and a phone and clock which I didn’t bother using. Cleaning was completed by the time I returned in early afternoon except for the day before I left… never had room service that day at all but it didn’t bother me. Shower pressure was good (very important to me) and I really have nothing negative to say about the room. It was nice to stay at a place where you didn’t have to worry about loud late-night partying… a good place for families.…
We stayed at this hotel in order to decompress. The hotel was clean and had a fridge and microwave which was perfect since we brought all our food from home not wanting to go out to eat during the pandemic. Although this is not on the beach, it is a nice walk to the beach and it isn't that far. Once on the beach you can walk to the Rehoboth boardwalk. There are no enclosed hallways which is a plus during this time. That being said not everyone on the property could be seen wearing masks.
This place is a hidden gem. If you are traveling to the beach with kids and a dog, look no further. The staff is amazing--from reservations, to check in, to the cleaning crew to special requests, they were helpful, professional and considerate--like a family run operation with attention to detail and hospitality. The rooms are spacious, clean and updated. The beds are extremely comfortable and I am picky about mattresses. The location could not be beat. Easy walk to the beach and eateries. Short drive to the boardwalk and outlets. And the price? Could not be beat. If you're travelling with kids and a dog, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
My husband and I head to Dewey once a year to see family and get away our normal place wasn't open this season and this was the only place that was pet friendly. Honestly my hopes for this place where not very high before showing up but once there they proved me wrong right from the start. All the staff there are Super friendly it was clean really a great place to stay. I extended my trip and had to work the morning of our last day there and they where great about letting me stay over. If you need a place to stay I suggest here!
I booked a room for two for a late weekend in Sept. for $150/night. This hotel was the only one with rooms available near that price point where you could walk to the beach. The furnishings were clean, simple, and basic--which is what i prefer actually. Coffee maker worked, and coffee, sugar, etc. were provided. A/C worked. The street outside (it's on the main road) was constantly busy, but it wasn't too noisy. On Sat. late in the night some people outside by the hotel office got into a loud argument. The hotel was not crowded at all. We walked to the beach, and to restaurants. Check-in and check-out were easy and the staff was helpful. Nothing extraordinary, and nothing bad.
This is a relatively inexpensive place to stay at the beach. This is a three-story motel with no elevator, in walking distance to the beach. It is also less than a mile walk to the night spots in Dewey Beach. There are no amenities such as a pool and breakfast. The motel used to be Sea Esta IV motel. The motel has been refurbished and renamed “The Dunes.” The rooms have laminate floors and new furniture. The electric seems the same. We were in an end unit and most of the time we could not make a wi-fi connection for our laptop and smartphones.
We had a wonderful experience at this motel—which has undergone a beautiful refresh! The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The management is cordial and attentive and the immediately took care of a minor issue with our room the same day we reported it. There were great amenities —multiple computer/device ports are available in the room—free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. Beds were comfortable and linens were great. And you can’t beat the location. Excellent value for the money. We will be back!
I go to Dewey every year and this was the first time staying at the new renovated Dunes. It was nice and simple. The manager was super friendly and easy going! I've gone to a couple other places in Dewey where the front desk workers arn't very friendly or nice at all. Over all was an easy stay!
My husband and I just recently returned from a 2-night stay at the Dunes. This was our first visit to the area and our first time staying in motel style accommodations. With only a month to plan our visit, we quickly realized how pricey hotels in the resort town could be and with some suggestions from TripAdvisor, we booked the Dunes at a reasonable rate. The Dunes is a standard, no-frills motel and is pet-friendly (we don’t have a pet, but I know many have difficulty finding pet-friendly hotels). You won’t find a pool or restaurant on site, but what you will find is clean, comfortable accommodations. We requested a higher floor room as all exterior doors open to the outside. Our request was granted and we received a room on the 3rd floor. The room was perfect for us. It was clean with a comfy bed, flatscreen tv, good air-conditioning, a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron/ironing board and had a small table with 2 chairs. Don’t be surprised to see a fly swatter hanging by the door. It could be a turn off to some, but makes sense since the doors open to the outside fresh air and believe me there are plenty of bugs flying around in the heat in the summer. We were fortunate to not see a single bug in our room during our stay. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and able to answer questions about the area. This motel is located on Coastal Highway (the same for the restaurants and bars down the road) and we were pleasantly surprised not to hear too much noise from the traffic. For the price, this location was perfect for us. It was a 10-15 minute walk into the heart of Dewey, where you’ll find plenty of places to eat and drink. We took this walk several times both during the day and in the evening. We were able to walk to Dewey beach as well. We found that you can walk down Carolina St. and found a pedestrian path, followed by a 2-block walk to the beach. Not the easiest when it’s hot, but quite doable. FYI, we didn’t see any public restrooms at Dewey beach, so keep that in mind. The specific area we stayed in has a lot of summer rentals opposed to hotels. You can also use the Jolly Trolley ($3 one way, $5 roundtrip) to travel between Dewey and Rehoboth Beach. They have a map available at the front desk and there are several stops in the area. There is a restaurant and liquor store across the street and a Valero gas station right next door. My only criticisms would be that the shower pressure wasn’t great (I find this in even the priciest of hotels), the bed linens could be a little softer and our coffeemaker wasn’t cleaned that well. They do offer coffee and tea in the main office. Overall, we had a wonderful stay for a great price. We had such a fun time visiting Dewey and Rehoboth Beach. This is an area we will definitely be visiting again. For the price and the accommodations, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at The Dunes in the future.…
