From the moment I stepped out of the car and onto the premises of the DELAMAR at West Hartford, I was impressed. The hotel is thoughtfully located in Blue Back Square near countless shops, restaurants, and other attractions. The staff is impressively helpful and superb. When I checked in I was offered a glass of champagne and was treated exceptionally. I had no idea I was in for such a treat. My room was impeccable! Beautiful bedding, room accents, and decor. The bathroom in the premium king room is to die for as well. Really well designed with BVLGARI toiletries and separate thermostats in the bathroom. I soaked my worries and stresses away in the beautiful standalone tub while I sipped champagne and overlooked the square. The next day, I took a trip down to the Artisan restaurant inside of the hotel. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The fresh-baked croissants, farm fresh eggs, among other delicious selections were quite nice. Also, breakfast every morning in the quaint, yet lovely garden was refreshing as well. This hotel is worth every penny! I highly recommend it based on its location, service, and amenities alone.…
Our stay at the hotel was lovely and exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was comfortable, clean and well appointed with easy connections for charging electronic devices. All members of the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, especially the fruit and the croissants. Being able to eat in the beautiful garden was a plus. The coffee machine in the lounge area was an added boon with excellent cappuccino.
Women beware: I experienced incredibly rude, sexist and unprofessional customer service at check in at the Delamar West Hartford. Upon arriving and checking in, I was not once greeted by name, and after one front desk staff took my card and id with no greeting, she transferred me to ‘Elizabeth’ who identified herself as the front desk manager. Having heard her be polite, pleasant and joke with the man previous to myself in line, I was surprised and appalled at her lack of courtesy to me - it seemed clear she engaged differently with me as I was the only female checking in myself over the course of waiting and engaging with the front desk. She did not mention breakfast or other hotel amenities - all the things she pointed out to the prior guest and all the things described in our room description. She informed me that the room, that I had booked direct through Delamar for $700 pre-tax was not ready and would not be for at least another 1.5 hours (it was 3:30). She did not offer a solution for the inconvenience of waiting and paying for a room I had no access too, instead she became more condescending and rude when I was upset over the development and then offered a lesser room - no additional options and no apology - it was a take it or leave bullying attitude. It was not until my husband joined me at the front desk and asked what else we could do (a question I had already asked), that she even began to engage in discussion and moved away from her bullying tone. I again asked if she could take money off, and now with my husband there, she conceded she could take money off for the delay. I asked for a late checkout - She begrudgingly offered 1 extra hour. Again, no courtesy, no apologies for the inconvenience, no respect. When we got to the room, we were dismayed to discover that that room had no bathtub despite promotional pictures here on TripAdvisor (labeled submitted by management on many partner sites) and was an ADA room. When we requested to be transferred to a NON-ADA room, just uninterested in a room with a motel 6 quality bath curtain, she told us that all Executive suites have the same curtain and bathroom - so BEWARE PROMOTIONAL PICTURES are a lie (or she was lying). We have stayed in a wide variety of Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons all over the world and have never encountered such a terrible response - we specifically picked Delamar with hope of professionalism and were disappointed and disgusted by Elizabeth’s engagement. Please make note of front office female manager sexist attitude. Also - here’s the pic of the shoddy and cheap bathroom curtain. Again, don’t believe the promotional pics. We do have to note we did meet a lovely gentleman working at the front desk who tried to soothe our ruffled feathers with complimentary Prosecco and a promise of a reduced rate but despite his kindness - the rawness we felt over Elizabeth’s attitude meant we can’t recommend this hotel for women business travelers or women who might check in themselves. Thank you.…
Our recent trip to CT was made perfect with our stay at the Delamar. From check in to ckout our experience was outstanding. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and spotless. The beds linens and pillows made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud. And my favorite part of the the stay was my early cup of coffee in the lobby! This was not our first stay at the Delamar and certainly won't be our last. Thanks to everyone there for making our short but sweet stay excellent.
