Words cannot express how amazing our time was at the Rivertrees Country Inn. Their hospitality, and flexibility when our plans drastically changed, were above and beyond expectation. We were well fed with delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere. Everything we tried was tasty and the staff was quick to help ensure we got whatever we needed. There is also a variety of seating options, both indoor and outdoor, as well as next to the evening fire pit.

We used Rivertrees as a home base of sorts for our nearly three weeks of adventuring, and each time we returned, the staff were quick to ask how our time was and even remembered what was next on our itinerary. They felt more like friends and family by the time we had to say goodbye (even though we would have preferred to stay).

The rooms and grounds were clean and well kept. The beds are cozy, fitted with nets to keep insects at bay, though we never did observe any inside our room to officially be in need of the net. The bathrooms are large, clean and equipped with glass bottles of drinkable water that can be filled by staff on site as needed for refills.

The pool was a clean, cool place to relax ourselves after spending over a week in the heat of the bush. There is also a changing area and bathroom adjacent to the pool that was clean and available for use.

Even before setting foot on the first day of our actual safari, we were treated to a variety of beautiful flora and fauna within the grounds of the inn - including a beautiful variety of birds and a riverside trail. The area is calm, serene, and a great place to recharge from jet lag or adventuring.

We highly recommend this little oasis to anyone making their way to or through Arusha, and will always think fondly of our time there and are counting down for our own future visit!

We absolutely fell in love with this property. It is tranquil and provides an oasis to busy Arusha outside its gates. We enjoyed our rooms and felt that it was perfect for our family of 5 (Parents had one room and daughters had a triple). The rooms were large and en suite bathroom has a shower and deep bath tub. Perfect for relaxing after our long flight from California. We spent two nights and a full day upon arrival so that we could be more alert and ready for our safari vacation. We took advantage of playing badminton, photographing the local monkeys, and trip to a coffee plantation. The restaurant, bar, open air dining was a total treat. It all had an exotic but relaxed atmosphere. We returned here upon the completion of our trip before flying home. It held its charm and tranquil atmosphere. I wish this property was closer to us now as I would want to return often. A treat for our family.

I stayed just one night at the Rivertrees Inn after 2 weeks spent working on a volunteer project in the Usa River area. Having spent those 2 weeks in a fairly simple guesthouse the Inn was quite a step up in quality. The grounds are big, lush and lovely with the rooms set in small, single story blocks each containing 2 or 3 rooms. My room was a good size with huge four poster bed with mosquito net plus a separate day bed, a couple of trunks and a desk/cupboard unit containing a safe. There was a terrace out the front with table and chairs. The bathroom was large with a tub and a separate shower and the wifi was good.

Everything was quiet except for naughty monkeys that hooted and thumped over the roof from time to time. Wonderful local colour!

The common areas included a very nice swimming pool and a large bar/restaurant with sheltered and outdoor areas that included a big wood fired pizza oven. The menu is limited but the food was good and a nice change after 2 weeks of volunteer communal meals. Our flights didn't leave until late in the evening and we were allowed a very late check out which was much appreciated.

The tariff was extremely reasonable, perhaps helped along by business being slow on account of coronavirus. Worth every penny and more and highly recommended.

I stayed in this accommodation for one night with my family. There were no porters available when we checked in, so we had to carry our own luggage. I do not mind to carry my own luggage, but would expect in a place of this price level that there are helping hands. Even in the most simple accommodation in TZ we had people helping us with our luggage.

The reception told us that they would do the turn-down service and spray the room against mosquitoes, but when we arrived after dinner everything was unprepared, unsprayed and the windows and curtains wide open and quite a few mosquitoes in the room. The windows were of course fitted with mosquito nets but, the spraying of the room would have done the trick.

Service in the restaurant was slow and not really enthusiastic. However, some staff was more friendly than other staff.

The settings of the place are beautiful under century old trees next to a river. The cottages and rooms were also fine, with huge beds under mosquito nets, oozing a very tranquil atmosphere.

However, the whole complex gave me an aged feeling and I would have expected a better overall experience giving the price tag.

I have the feeling that this place is spoiled by cash-wading safari tourists. Actually, this place was the place I felt most unwelcome in three weeks of travelling through TZ.

We had one night here as a stopover from arriving in Arusha heading towards safari, and it was delightful.

The grounds are lovely, the staff friendly, the food was fantastic and a real highlight. We had the chef’s three course dinner special and every dish was a knockout.

The room was well appointed and turned down in the evening (spraying for mosquitoes and netting your bed). The bed is also wonderfully comfy after a long trip and falling sleep to the sounds of a babbling creek was great (as was being woken up in the morning by playful blue monkeys on our roof - a bonus for us and by no means a detraction!)

The hotel is close to some small game parks nearby, but at least 2.5hrs from lake manyara and probably about 3.5hrs from Ngorongoro Crater. (We stayed a camp closer to these larger parks)

Depending on what your needs are, I would say you can trust this as a good property

We chose to stay at Rivertrees instead of the popular African Tulip on our arrival night in Tanzania. Our flight arrived late in the evening and customs took forever! It was about a 40 minute drive here from the airport (African Tulip would've been at least another 20 minutes) and even though we didn't arrive until 10:30pm, they showed us to our rooms and then prepared dinner for us...we had such excellent service here we were amazed and so pleased!

Service- from check in to check out and dinner and breakfast, the service here was absolutely impeccable. We could not praise them any more for what a good job they did taking care of us, especially with us arriving so late!

Dining- the dining area was covered yet open and there was uncovered shaded seating as well, but the environment was absolutely delightful and the wood fired pizzas were divine! The food here was very good and cooked to order at dinner and breakfast. Our box meal from here was also very good...one of the better ones on this trip.

Rooms- this is a fairly spread out property with cottages as rooms sprinkled throughout, making it quiet and secluded. We arrived in the dark and had an escort and thankfully paid attention so we wouldn't get lost going back to dinner! We could hear water babbling at night and what a delight to explore a little bit in the morning and find a little babbling river running near our cottage...it would've been delightful to stay here several days!

We would highly recommend Rivertrees as your place to stay upon arrival at JRO and if you are staying in this area to explore the nearby area. The food is excellent, the staff outstanding, and the rooms are blissful! I'd love to just hang out there for a week or so!

Stayed here for two nights before heading off on a wild safari. The accommodation was lovely, rooms clean and comfortable. The food was great, breakfast, lunches and Dinners were excellent with a choice of dining areas in and outside. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The best part of this lodge is its location, set between Kilimanjaro and Arusha, the grounds are full of birdlife and monkeys. The Sykes and Vervet monkeys would play early in the morning, and Colobus monkeys would sun themselves in the evenings. Sunbirds, finches and even a lovely wood owl were amongst some of the birdlife seen here.
On a H&S front, COVID-19 procedures are well enforced and felt safe, relaxed and comfortable during my stay. Lovely place and will return

Rivertrees Country Inn is truly a wonderful place to begin or end your visit to Tanzania. Each cottage is well equipped and tucked into the lush greenery, so you have a feeling of privacy while being close to all the amenities.
Our cottage had a shower stall and a separate bathtub, flush toilets, plenty of hot water and decent lighting. Robes were provided and there were flower petals on the bathmat. Our king size bed was comfortable with mosquito netting which we did not need. The suite was well furnished.
There is a great restaurant on site, our package included a full breakfast which was well done. There is a nice outdoor bar, partly under cover. For those who wanted to follow sports there was a big screen TV at the bar, but mostly we enjoyed the camp monkeys, eagle owls and safari ants. There was a separate wood fired Pizza oven onsite, but we did not have time to try it out. Arusha National Park is less than 20 minutes away. Tours and bike rides were offered at the camp, lots to do
The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is exterior lighting at night, and it is safe to walk around without a guide. There is a river onsite with several small scenic waterfalls. We could have stayed here several more days. It’s truly relaxing and comfortable.

Wonderful location and ambience, among lush tropical gardens, making for a very relaxing stay regardless if visiting for leisure or business. The staff are very cordial and attentive from the moment you set foot on the property. The rooms were impeccable and nicely decorated, with fast wifi as a bonus. The food is delicious and seemingly made with all local produce. Wish I could have stayed until Sunday when they have a live jazz band over brunch!

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of our tour. Our room was in the back of the property. Take the flashlight if you will be returning after dark. No A/C, but there is a ceiling fan. Our only complaint was we did not receive any maid service. They cleaned our neighbor's room in the morning. When we returned from our day tour we had to track down an employee and ask for more water and dry towels (it was humid) as they had skipped our room. They said they now had time to clean, but we declined as we had just returned from a long excursion and wanted to relax in the room. Their attitude was basically "whatever". Service for drinks and dinner was also slow.

This is a very relaxed place. I can't remember anyone being at the pool. So I don't think chairs are going to be a problem. The spa services were professional and good value. As is the food. Enjoy. It's a dreamy place

The distance from the nearest “cottage” to the restaurant is perhaps 200 metres and the route is level. Staff are wonderful and I am sure would offer every assistance to ensure safety and comfort for those with mobility problems.
