Hotel's Favourite
I stayed for 2 nights in the family rooms.
I have to say I loved The Beach Hotel. Yes it could do with a refurbishment but it’s old world and I loved it. There isn’t a lift but there is a lovely staircase. We ate in the hotel both nights as the food was lovely. There is an air of just relaxation In the hotel….. the music is just playing low in the background and it’s so nice. You are next door to the Boardwalk shopping centre which was great. Overall I would stay here again

So good to return to a hotel post lockdown restrictions and find it as good, if not better than ever. No dip in quality, standards or financial spend to make the experience incredible.
In fact the opposite. Individually sealed towel sets in rooms, little sealable bags at restaurant tables to put face masks in for sanitary purposes, excellence in food prep and presentation from breakfast to lunch to dinner. And all the staff are well presented, friendly and welcoming.
Absolutely a joy to stay again at this lovely seafront hotel. Safe, happy and content. I will be back again.

From the moment we drove into the private car parking , doorman, reception staff and housekeeping staff in and around hotel greeted us warmly. Our bedroom was beautiful large airy with sea views and a balcony the bathroom was fabulous. We enjoyed the pool and garden we had dinner on the veranda 1st night. The 2nd night we book a large table for our guests - my family in the Ginger Restaurant to celebrate my 60th and a great catch up with everybody. Again we were blown away by the kindness we were all treat. The bar staff were wonderful, your hostess could not have done anymore to make this such a rememberal evening. Our food was out if this world and we mean it as we ahave travelled to far flung places. The breakfast we had for 2 x days is also a well greased ship no problems and delicious the staff again could not do enough 4 us thank u all fir that very special PE windy city friendliness will visit again. Lots of love to GinoX

Very comfortable, clean, and quiet rooms. Rooms also had helpful features including a big desk, multiple plug points (including UK plug point) and great tea and coffee facilities, free mineral water etc. There are two restaurants/bar downstairs which is very convenient for meetings. The beach/promenade is over the road and there are shops in walking distance. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were always extremely helpful. The hotel is also popular with people on holiday so there was a nice relaxed feel about the place. Only minor point - if you would like an early check-in (before 2) make sure you arrange at booking as it's a popular hotel and rooms may not be free on the day.

Crowded restaurant, no accommodation for smokers in the garden, i.e. table and chairs, ash tray, shade.
Breakfast buffet below average for a 4 star hotel.
Extremely limited room service options.
Room service took approximately 50 minutes for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake and a coke.
My stay was very average to poor, if not for the comfortable rooms and bed, the rating would have been lower.
I travel to Port Elizabeth very frequently and have had much better experiences in 3 star hotels.

The hotel is set opposite one of the areas most beautiful sand beaches. There is a large shopping mall next door to the hotel offering a wide choice of restaurants. The hotel building is wonderfully old fashioned. The reception staff were welcoming.
Our room (a suite) was beautifully laid out and provided a fridge, iron, bath and shower, kettle and television. Stepping out of the patio door lead to the shared pool across a small lawned area. The pool itself was looking a little tired.
There are three restaurants on site - we tried the terrace restaurant and main restaurant. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection but the hot buffet was a little cool and greasy. The staff were all delightful.
A comfortable and relaxing stay.

My husband & I stayed here whilst attending the Test match resulting in it being very busy, which we prepared for, but sadly the hotel was not. On arrival we were shown to a lovely room but on unzipping our case to unpack, we were advised we were in the wrong room and taken on a route march to another. The staff were friendly, but it was a long wait for service and even longer for the bill at the Verandah restaurant and bar. The Ginger restaurant was also very popular and a good standard and we enjoyed a lovely meal here one night, but a confusion over the booking for a subsequent evening, we were met with rudeness, even though the error was not our fault and no table available. Breakfast was a buffet and acceptable if you wanted scrambled eggs but no other egg option available and a long wait for tea/coffee
The room was spacious but after the second night we had no sheet under the duvet, which was not replaced for the remainder of the stay, despite pointing this out. The shower door didn't close properly resulting in the floor becoming soaked, so avoid room 50, but was always clean. We were confirmed by reception a booking had been made for a table at a beachside restaurant, but on arrival they knew nothing about the booking.
On the plus side, the staff were efficient when booking out and helpful porterage to the coach to airport. The position of the hotel is good for other restaurants and sea side walks but the experience would have been improved if the staffing had been better prepared for the influx of visitors.

We stayed in the Beach Hotel the evening before we flew out of Port Elizabeth Airport on an early morning Flight. We chose this Hotel as it was my late Mum's favourite Place to eat in Port Elizabeth, and oh Boy, am I glad we did. The Welcome that we received as we arrived was so warm and friendly. The Porter that showed us to our very comfortable Room was really helpful, and helped explain where everything was in the Room. The Location is just opposite Shark Pier along the Seafront, and next to the new Boardwalk Shopping and Entertainment Centre and very close to Barney's Pub, where we were meeting Friends. A perfect Location for us. Because it's so close to the Boardwalk Centre, there is lots of choice for anyone wishing to eat out. But take my advice...don't bother eating out because the Restaurant in the Hotel serves the most delicious food in a lovely Setting (we ate out on the Veranda with a Sea View). We had to leave the Hotel at 5am the next morning to catch out Flight (the Airport is a short 10 minute drive away), and so we missed Breakfast, but the wonderful Reception Staff had arranged for us to have a lovely Packed Breakfast to take with us so we could eat it at the Airport while waiting for our Plane. I would highly recommend a stay at the Beach Hotel if you're ever looking for somewhere to stay in Port Elizabeth.

Sure is a frontline beach resort for sure but rooms were tucked away at the back without a sea view. Don’t recommend booking without a telephonic confirmation that your room has sea views.
Left us unimpressed…
For a few Rands more you could book other beach facing hotels.
Carpets need a clean.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
All in all a bit overpriced for the experience.
