The location of this hotel is excellent, walking distance to Yale and in the shopping/restaurant district. The hotel exceeded expectations, spacious room, beautiful lobby, helpful staff, many amenities, and easily accessible by car.
We stayed at the New Haven Hotel because the Omni prices were too high on this particular weekend. It's a comfortable, clean hotel, but there are no bathtubs (this was a huge disappointent to me, because I was looking forward to it after a long...More
This hotel seems to be popular for weddings -- they don't have a banquet facility, but no fewer than three wedding parties had booked hotel blocks in this hotel on the weekend we were there, also for a wedding.

This is a nice hotel. I am always a bit worried when I don't book into a chain but this was good. The people were friendly and I arrived during the nightly wine and cheese reception which I didn't join in but there were people...More
Excellent central location, with parking literally across the road. You need to leave your car in a small “pull-in” outside the main entrance, while you check in. Your room key then gives you access to the car park. The hotel makes a $20 a day...More
The New Haven Hotel is located about a half mile from Union Station. It would be about a 15 minute walk however we would recommend a taxi. Thank you.

If you're used to Dublin, then I would say that New Haven in and around the Yale Campus is very safe. They have so many campus police there you can tour Yale at all hours and feel safe. Visit restaurants and bars near the NHH and you'll probably be as safe as Dublin. Go several miles out to the outlying neighborhoods, and like anywhere, there could be trouble. For sure, downtown New Haven doesn't have even one tenth the crime of Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA or even Santa Ana, CA 10 miles from me! I felt very safe.
