The condo was small as advertised but well equipped. It is on the ground floor and right near the pool, so it was very noisy one evening. You can walk everywhere from the condo! You don’t need your car. We did have a problem with the freezer being noisy and they sent someone to fix it.

We booked a unit at Viking lodge through alpine lodging for two reason: location and pool/hot tub. The unit itself was lovely. We found out randomly the day before travel that the pool and hot tub were broken when I showed the photos of the unit to my husband. We reached out to alpine lodging to see if it would be fixed and it not could they offer some compensation. We were told hot tubs in mountain locations were quite difficult to maintain and they were sorry but nothing could be done. We asked for the manager to reach out and never heard from the manager. If the advertised amenities are not operable should come compensation not be provided? Even if it’s just a bottle of wine? We will not use alpine lodging for our next visit to telluride.

Location is great for festivals, but the unit is too small. Furniture too large for living area and not suitable for tall guests. No true dining space. Kitchen pots and pans in serious need of updating. All coatings removed and unsafe for cooking. Did not use dispute having bought groceries. Under-the-counter refrigerator was too small and did not keep items cold enough. Required frequent trips to grocery store which is fortunately nearby. Freezer kept ice cream cool and fully melted. Front window inoperable. No ensuite bathroom. No window in bedroom, must keep unscreened door open for ventilation. Could use only two pillows as we could not locate extra pillowcases. Appreciated the W/D which worked well. Least favorite unit in 20 years.

We stayed in #212 and overall were pleased with our experience. Our unit was on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the river and the trail and also with a nice view of the gondolas going up to the top and to Mountain Village. It seemed like a very good value for what you get as lodging in Telluride can be quite expensive. THE PROS: The condo was clean, modern, well maintained, nicely furnished and decorated, and well equipped. The location is very nice - particularly the building along the river. It is within easy walking distance to the gondola station, and Clark's market. The excellent Thai restaurant Siam and the Wine Mine are both right across the street. The large, tiled shower was very nice with full size bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The unit had plenty of towels, a nicely equipped kitchen, plenty of storage and some nice bonuses like board games, books, a washer and dryer and extra towels to use at the pool and hot tub. It is clear the owners care about their guest's comfort. The grounds seemed well maintained and clean. The company we booked through, Lodging in Telluride, was very good - excellent communication via e-mails and very responsive to us when we reported some minor problems. THE CONS: The unit was kind of small - very adequate for 2 of us but would feel very cramped with any more than that. There is no elevator in this building so it is a little inconvenient to have to carry all your luggage and gear up the stairs upon arrival and the opposite when departing. The wifi was not great - especially in the bedroom. We had some issues with the appliances - the built in microwave was not working properly - a smaller counter-top one was brought to us which was fine. The refrigerator/freezer is a SubZero brand, built in below the counter-top so it looks very sleek and modern but it is quite small. Also the freezer would not always stay latched when closed so you had to be very careful when closing it. It did not seem to freeze things evenly and some items did not freeze at all. There was also a problem with the latch on the window by the front door so we would have to go out on the landing to pull it open or push it shut. During the day we could sometimes overhear other residents talking on their phones while sitting outside their condos - the sound really carries and that could get slightly annoying at times but things were always quiet at night. All of these issues were just minor annoyances and not big problems.

The mix of permanent tenants plus resort people made an odd affliction when using the public services, like the hot tub, the neighbors were a little rude, no big deal. But all the appliances, furniture and hardware were falling apart. And the base board heating got so hot it melted the straps for my boots, and was still molten nylon when I went to move it. (no where to dry boots and gear, so we hung it up near the heater) Also, there is no smoking anywhere near the building, yet won't give an example of a safe place. I was 30ft away from the outside of the walls, in the back area. One of the neighbors called to complain, as he was smoking walking past me. A tip for others, not all rooms are the remotely the same, our bed room was at the front door. So, being covered in snow, we soaked the floor upon entering in the sleeping area.

Viking Lodge is close to San Miguel River, walking path, gondola, grocery, and main business/restaurant area. Buildings in fairly good repair and grounds minimal. Parking can be scarce at times. We could walk everywhere we wished to go and then more to see once you take gondola up/over to mountain village/ski area. Great hiking just outside of town. What is not good at Viking Lodge is poor wi-fi/internet service, noise from neighboring units, and unacceptable laundry situation. Wi-fi/internet totally unreliable any given day. No one ever came by to fix it. Noise was most of evening with people upstairs and to one side - creaking floors, banging around, TV noise - not relaxing particularly at midnight. The laundry room is not available because the management has a person in there all day filling the handful of washers and dryers with the dirty linens from the units! To top it off, the cleaner was unloading the dirty linens from large garbage bags AND THEN loading the "clean" linens into the very same bags! This seems like a health safety/sanitation issue. The small swimming pool was sketchy so we did not use.The coffee available to use is tasteless. TV had limited channels so of no value. Overall, a very or less than average place.

The employee got lost four times trying to find my room. My first room was the size of a closet and had no window. It was stifling as there was no AC. The room was up at the very top of the place with 3 sets of narrow, crooked stairs to get there. No one offered to help me with my luggage, and it was immediately obvious when I entered that this was not going to work for me. I went back downstairs right away and asked to be moved , but this same employee told me that the manager was gone and she texted him, telling him the issue and his reply to her was to get my number and I would be taken care of. I returned at 9:30 pm having not received any such phone call and called the number for the lodge. I was connected with this manager who had checked me in and he sounded like he had never heard of me and that they were fully booked, nothing he could do, he denied that there were any similar rooms that hadn't been checked into yet which I later found out was untrue, so I told him that my room was completely unacceptable and that I would be taking this up the following day as he was denying me access. The next day he apparently had been thinking about my statement and I was miraculously moved to an available room with a cot-like bed on a outer 2nd floor level tha t4 am work contractors were noisily tramping on the next morning. The TV was 12 inches in diameter and the WIFI was nonexistent to spotty. The coffee area was nasty, there was ratty, dusty furniture in the lounge area, and the entire building was unlocked at all hours. The manager chose to argue with me saying he didn't know I was "handicapped" and refused to acknowledge that I had specifically requested a ground floor unit. Nothing nice, quaint or romantic about this place. A minus on all levels for sure.

This is not the unit for you if you are 4 adults since there is no privacy. You enter the unit and the queen bed is 3 feet away with the rest of the unit open to the far end. There is no space to take off ski equipment or store it. The only door in the unit is for the toilet/bathtub room but you virtually have to stand on the toilet to swing the door in to leave. Most of lights in the unit did not work when we arrived and we had to hustle to purchase light bulbs to make the condo useful. The unit is attractively decorated and would suit a family or a couple. The location is great but you have to walk miles from the main building entrance along elevated walkways with your luggage. Owner is very stingy with towels leaving us 2 towels for 4 adults. We were charged extra for the additional towels we used. Wonderful small deck but only 1 chair...the 2nd was broken.

BEWARE: I booked at Viking Lodge 105 for the upcoming Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Yesterday, a month and a half after I confirmed my reservation at just under $300 a night I received an email from the property manager Georgie saying the rate I booked at was incorrect and that my reservation would be cancelled and I could find somewhere else to stay. She didn't even give us an option to book at the "new" rate. Just said we could find somewhere "in our budget". She was extremely rude and condescending. Even blocked my phone number and refused to cooperate with Travelocity in their investigation. She has relisted the property on Vrbo at double the rate that I'm still currently reserved at through Travelocity. What a fraud! A month and a half ago I could've found somewhere else to stay at a similar rate. Today any condo that can accommodate four people comfortably with current availability in Telluride is now going for $700 - $3000 a night. I am being forced by this crooked business woman to take a $1000 loss on my festival tickets and my moms flight. Not to mention how upset we are that our vacation has been ruined. My booking was cancelled so that the property could rebook at a higher rate. What horrible business practice! I wonder how many other people have fallen victim to this scam. Such a disappointment. I can't believe this can even be allowed.

This apartment has a comfy queen bed and 2 bunk beds, BUT this unit is NOT for 4 people. There were two bath towels and one towel rack to hold the wet towel, We arrived after hiking all day, and had to call for more towels, but once they are wet, where do you hang them? The unit has a TWO seater couch. After hiking, biking all day a client would like to sit on a comfy chair. We ended up sitting on pillows on the floor, Really, this is what I paid for! (The two bar stools are uncomfortable and not for relaxing and tv watching. ) The kitchenette has no prep counter space and only one burner worked. This unit could be so much nicer if the owners gave it proper attention.
