For the price, this is a very nice motel and, as others have noted, the rooms are nicer on the inside than they appear to be on the outside. I was glad the a/c worked well. One thing to be aware of is that the motel is not close to I-70, relative to many other motels in Grand Junction. OTOH, there is a very good Mexican drive-thru restaurant across the road.
Clean, clean, clean! The entire property is clean. The room was cleaner than any motels we’ve stayed in. Comfortable beds, the linens are better than you will get in a chain motel. The bathroom was very clean. Quiet, family run motel. Clean!
The hotel is just ok. Nothing fancy but ok. The neighborhood is quite sketchy. Nothing around to walk to. Subsidized housing across the street. This is on the South side of town and 10 minutes from the freeway. I recommend that you stay elsewhere.
This is the nicest 2* we've ever stayed in. The furniture is comfortable and not dilapidated as is too often the case with 2*. We had 2 comfortable arm chairs (plus a desk chair and desk!) so both of us could watch TV without sitting on the bed. The bath was also modernized: new tile, tub and sink, all fixtures worked, and instant hot water. Newer A/C unit that does not smell like you-know-what. Comfortable KING size bed. Friendly staff. Safe-feeling location. Well-deserved 5* rating. You can buy a box of Kleenex at the Dollar Tree right across the street and then take it with you with no guilty feelings!
You get what you pay for and this hotel is no exception. We were passing through Grand Junction and have family and friends there. JUCO tournament was in town so all the rooms at nice hotels were full. We got two rooms at Palomino (the man who checked us in was very unfriendly so that should have been my first clue) and went out to dinner. After dinner a friend came over to chat. Suddenly there is loud banging on the door. I still had the Do Not Disturb sign up from earlier in the day. Since it's a bad neighborhood we did not answer the door and there was no peep hole. The person continued to bang on the door for about 2 minutes then it stopped. After that, the phone in the room rang, it was a woman (the owner?) at the front desk demanding to know why I did not answer the door. She told me I could not have a guest on the property. I explained to her that it wasn't anyone staying the night just a friend visiting and she said no, they had to go. No one said anything when I checked in that visitors are not allowed, I didn't sign anything with rules stating no visitors.. She told me if they did not leave she would have their car towed and call the police. Are you kidding me? I'm an adult and friends and family can most certainly visit my hotel room. This place is dated and dirty and in a bad neighborhood so I would think they would treat respectful guests better. Trust me, there are much better options so stay elsewhere.…
