Detailed Reviews
A great place hidden in the SW Colorado! Not far from Cortez or Durango! Peace an quiet!
Great and very clean rooms. Some are simply amazing in the Lodge house.
Warm breakfast eggs, oatmeal, breads and pastries along with juices and coffee!
Walking trails on the property for the mind cleaning moments.
Tell Mandy hi!

I have stayed at this beautiful lodge two times this year and both experiences were similarly perfect.
The greeting is the same warm welcome whether it comes from Mary, the owner, or
one of her staff or family members. Guidance and advice for anything from where to eat or directions to a local attraction or business is gladly provided and accurate. The rooms are spacious, very clean and nicely appointed - also very quiet and calming for a great night's sleep.
The on sight, fresh breakfast was spot-on but wasn't being served when we stayed the second time in late fall since few guests didn't warrant a full kitchen staff. No worries
though - Mary sent us (voucher in hand) to the Ponderosa Restaurant in town where we had a terrific experience being served a nice breakfast and entertained by the
wonderful "small town friendly" ladies.
The whole Sophia/Ponderosa experience was delightful. We three traveling motorcyclists will come back again to enjoy these places and the Dolores Valley!

We had a one night stay in this elegant lodge. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the breakfast was pretty good. Also the common spaces were beautiful. Shame about the garden behind the House that was a little careless

Worst experience I have ever had at any hotel - ever. Staff was incredibly rude. After a very long road trip they acted like my family and I were an inconvenience to them because of a late arrival and turned us away although we had a confirmed reservation. Took an hour to re-book somewhere else and another hour drive.

Pati was a wonderful hostess and the property and buildings here are superb. However, the rooms do not have A/C. We stayed here in July and the room was 85 degrees at 11pm. Also, WiFi is very weak. Breakfast was a bit unusual in that you go to the guest kitchen and cook it yourself, which is nice if you have the time and no one else is using the cooking facilities at the time. This is a nice, relaxing place to stay with a few drawbacks as stated above. If you are fine with the drawbacks, then I highly recommend this for a one night stay or an extended stay.

Stopped for the night here in the way up to Vail CO. Spent a nice quiet night , great scenery, and fresh air. Friendly staff and a great breakfast included. This would be a nice place to hold a sales meeting or a small corporate retreat.
The town of Dolores has a cool atmosphere about it .

We booked it "on the go", not knowing what to expect.
As ration between cost and quality, this location is a winner by far!
The rooms are very nice, big and "home feeling"
The view and area are great
Breakfast ( including in the price) was very good and healthy.
If you are in the area, for 20%-25% less than "motel" style you get great deal

We found this place "accidentally": while traveling, we look for a place for the night.
If we knew about this place before we may stay longer.
We stayed in the main building. The room is nicely decorated and all this place atmosphere is calmness.
The main lobby where we eat breakfast look charming too.
Take the time to explore the outside with the great labyrinth.
You don't have to be yogi or practice meditation to feel the beauty and the calmness of the place and enjoy your time.
We were impressed by this place friendly hospitality and quality room.
Night before we had to stop at Super 8 ( no other place had room) and we paid same like the night at Sophia...
This retreat location is much higher level in any aspects with lower price.

Had a restful night and a nice morning walking the grounds at this lovely place after a hard day of hiking near Moab. We chose this spot for it's reasonable price and proximity to Mesa Verde but will return for the gracious hospitality, beautiful setting and the little herd of goats who visited us at our cabin.. It's an easy half hour drive to Mesa Verde from Sophia. Wonderful "unplugged" vibe with no tvs and limited wifi. So enjoyed meeting the owner and hearing the vision she and her family have for the place..

We rolled into the retreat center and were happily greeted by Kinsey. A happy go lucky young woman. The room we were in had 3 Queen beds which was perfect. We were able to use the laundry facilities and even get a relaxing drink. The retreat is on 30 acres with a couple trails to walk the property. It has a mindful Labyrinth walk that we enjoyed. The breakfast was good. We jus wished we had stayed longer.
