We reserved a room fairly last minute after reading the reviews for another hotel that we had originally booked then canceled and I could not be happier that we came here. The rooms were so cozy and the bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. It has a great location and tons of awesome amenities- ours being the private dock! We enjoyed waking up to watching the sunrise on the lake and highly recommend taking advantage of that!! Also rooms had free coffee, hot coco, and a bag of popcorn which made us feel even more at home. 10/10

Beautiful property, lovely little beach. Very convenient location to everything that North Lake Tahoe has to offer. The only issue was the room temperature (very hot and could not turn the heater down or lower thermostat). We had to keep windows open all the time and we were still hot.

The good: Great location close to an amazing Italian restaurant (Lanza’s) and supermarket. The 2 bedroom easily accommodated our family of 4 (3 adults and 1 teenager). The kitchen amenities were decent. Full stove, oven, and microwave. The beds are pretty comfortable and the bathrooms are nice. Really appreciate the spa jets in the bathtubs. We were in unit 21 so we do have people staying above us.

The bad: Walls are extremely thin. We can hear our neighbors talking through our bedroom wall. You can hear when everyone takes a shower and flushes a toilet whether in your unit or not. Outside hot tubs are lukewarm in the winter. Parking is tight, especially if all spots are taken by SUVs and people in larger vehicles are parking on the line, so getting into assigned space can be difficult.

Would definitely stay here again. Just make sure you have ear plugs for noise if you are a light sleeper.

Are you, like us, wary of Tahoe airbnbs that constantly look cute and cabin-y (wood etc) in the photos but are old, tacky and grimy when you arrive? That charge you $300+ cleaning fee and still expect you to do half of the cleaning before you leave? That never seem to get warm? That end up being in odd out of the way places on unplowed roads? Look no further! Red Wolf Lodge was such a great find. It’s renovated. It’s CLEAN. It’s warm (maybe a bit too warm occasionally, but that’s better than the opposite.) It’s in a fabulously central location. It has a cute private beach. It wasn’t weather to try the pool or hot tub, but they were there. They have daily things happening and while you are staying send you texts about these as well as other updates (example If it’s a cleaning day) so you don’t miss stuff. Checked in late so got key from lockbox and only met staff on checkout, but seemed super friendly. This is our new go-to in Tahoe for sure.

I booked a week during the ski season and this resort is close to several resorts. It is also very close to grocery (Safeway) and restaurants. During my stay, I encountered an epic snow storm that dropped over 6 feet of snow over 3 days. The resort staff was very responsive in clearing out the snow from the drive way and door ways. He even helped me clearing the snow on my car. I really appreciate his great service.

First impressions always last and upon arrival, I was greeted by the resort manager, Erin, who is amazing! She shared information about all of the week's activities and then gave me three keys to my room, one to keep in the car, which helps to eliminate getting locked out of the room. Thought that was brilliant. :) Then, I went to my room and it was amazing! The location of the resort couldn't be better for me and it is so clean! Can't wait to come back.

The primary reason to come to this resort is it’s breathtakingly beautiful location directly on the lake. Very peaceful and tranquil setting to relax, read, meditate, enjoy cup of coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the evening. Although the resort has very limited units with lake views, it’s just a short walk from anywhere on the property to access and enjoy the lake views from the various areas provided on the beach, decks, pool or fire pit. The resort is small, intimate, rustic in design, and although the units/rooms are quite small, the resort/units provide all that is needed for an enjoyable stay. The resort’s location in Tahoe Vista is very close to Kings Beach and area restaurants. Recommend Jason’s on the Beach for good food, drinks and outdoor patio overlooking beach and lake. Would have liked throw pillows on the couch for back support, and although the unit’s electric fireplace was functional, it lacked desirability. We were greeted in our unit with two beautiful swan towel designs with hearts, and welcome card/candy acknowledging our anniversary trip, and were also awarded guest of the week with a gift bottle of wine which were lovely touches by the staff. Overall great stay.

We loved our stay at The Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge. What a beautiful setting!
Right on the lake, private beach, grills, pool and even Kayaks! We were warmly greeted and quickly checked in. The only drawback to our stay was that we had a studio as all other units were reserved. The Murphy bed was not ok for us oldsters- I would not recommend it! But when we go again, we will either reserve a 1 or 2 bedroom unit. All are immaculately maintained as were the grounds, beach area and grills. Flowers abound! And you are conveniently located in Tahoe Vista - with parking right outside your unit's door. Units have everything you need and then some. You may choose to walk to many nearby restaurants or prepare meals in your unit like we did.
Loved this place and hope to return soon!

We stayed in mid August 2024. Some of these reviews use the term 'outdated' or 'need renovation'. I think rustic is a more appropriate term. We stayed in a studio apartment. It has a Murphy Bed, pulled down from the wall. You need to disassemble the sofa cushions and the bed pulls down over the frame. We just opted to leave the bed down for the week. The room is certainly 'cozy' (small), but functional. Appliances were small but certainly functional. The studio apartment is a good base of operations, but I wouldn't want to be cooped up in it all week.

The lodge is very convenient to everything in the area. The pool is small but nice and there is a small beach area on Lake Tahoe. There are picnic tables and grills down near the water. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

The area is very scenic, but seems geared to ski season more than summer. Summer seems geared to kayak rentals and hiking. There are a couple very nice narrated lake cruises.

Book here at your own risk, this hotel operates an overbooking policy!

We booked 11 months in advance, paid in full, travelled all the way from England only to be told on arrival at the front desk they had overbooked and wouldn’t accommodate us. Hotel manager was awol and could only speak to central reservations over the phone.

Two small children & late afternoon. I cannot express how disappointing and frustrating it was having saved and looked forward to coming here for the best part of a year. We had to pay over the odds to get somewhere else in peak season at such short notice nowhere near the lake.

Holiday ruined by Red Wolf Lodge. Shocking way to treat customers.

The laundry is free. But you share it with everyone, including housekeeping. You just have to time it right.
