Detailed Reviews
As a family of 2 adult couples we enjoyed a very comfortable 3 night stay at Firelite Lodge.
Checking in was the only slight issue - having never stayed in contactless accommodation, it took us some time to sort out what was necessary to access our rooms remotely.
Our first floor rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable, with useful facilities including a small kitchen area with microwave, table and chairs and a cosy living flame fire. We had a partial lake view.
Tahoe Vista is a great base to explore the north lake, with plenty of restaurants within a short drive and a Safeway nearby.
We felt that Firelite Lodge represented good value accommodation in this ‘shoulder season’ and were very happy with our choice.

The Firelite Lodge history dating back to 1960 Olympics set the tone for our vacation. Only spending three days there, it was one of the most cozy, scenic, friendly, accommodating little Lodge/Inn’s we experience while traveling. It is clean, remodeled and situated on Lake Tahoe. We had a Lake view and it was stunning! A two night minimum forced us to be out and about in the north town and it was the best decision ever! Thank you to the crew there for making it perfect! Love it!!!

Every time I come to Lake Tahoe which has been over last 12-15 years I stay at the FIRELITE LODGE. The Lodge is impeccably maintained with new improvements seemingly yearly. The rooms are exquisite and the staff is extremely courteous and their willingness to assist is second to none. The prime location is close proximity to fine restaurants and shopping. The gorgeous Lake Tahoe across from the Lodge is a just a few steps away. I would recommend everyone to stay here as I love it and thoroughly enjoy it here.

I am very perplexed as how this place has so many good reviews. The photos are very different from how the actual room looks. The room was clean but really old and dark and depressing, the beds were very uncomfortable, shower pressure was very low, no heater/air circulation only a fireplace which made the room sometimes too hot or too cold. There are no elevators. The building is very outdated and old built in 1970s with no upkeep.
This motel is fine if you are staying for one night while skiing and if you are paying under $120 per night, but it’s not worth paying more for this old motel.

Had planned on taking a trip up to beautiful Lake Tahoe and unfortunately had a family emergency. The site advertised free cancellation yet when I tried to cancel shortly after booking they reached out and stated they were not going to refund. Upsetting to pay near 300$ for something that I was unable to use but not much recourse other than warning others that they aren't the most understanding customer service that I've dealt with. Love lake Tahoe and go there often, this was an unfortunate experience.

This is a hidden gem of a place to stay in the North Tahoe area. Our nicely appointed room was impeccably clean and quiet. We enjoyed our fireplace and the bed was perfectly comfortable. The front office staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the lakefront and a short walk to local shops. There are wonderful restaurants nearby--we recommend the Old Range. Our room had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot. We had an awesome visit to Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista and will return to the Firelite when we are back in the area.

During this covid-19 time this place is very nice. Very clean people are courteous. Great view across the street and a short trail to walk. Not real close to town for us but we are physically challenged. Best value in the area only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating was because of road noise. I would stay here again.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the northern part of Lake Tahoe doing some hiking and enjoying the scenery. We stayed at this lovely lodge and I would highly recommend it. The staff was pleasant, the facility was clean and the room was nicely decorated and looked like it had been recently renovated. Firelite Lodge is directly across the street from Lake Tahoe which offer beautiful views. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of coffee. Appreciated that they were mask optional. Thank you for making our trip to Lake Tahoe so enjoyable!

Overall good room. Bathroom was not clean, hair left in bathroom. Bathroom had mold and needed caulking in areas. I’ve stayed at this hotel 3-4 times in the last 5 years and this was the worst. Picked this place as price was decent for weekend ski trip for 2 people. I don’t think I would stay here again. Likely to try and find another place in Kings Beach or Incline Village.

This lodge has the best customer service! Everybody is polite and friendly.I was traveling with older family members and the girl at front desk helped carry their bag up to third floor. Location is perfect right across the street from beach and lake with restrooms. Not as crowded as down the street in kings beach. Pool was refreshing. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 the hot tub was closed. Our room is lovely and we had a view of lake. It’s even quiet enough to leave slider open for fresh air. I highly recommend staying here.

Yes the beaches were open when we were there.
I agree with the above answers: I don't think you will enjoy your stay without a rental vehicle of some kind. There are a series of small towns scattered around the lake and in order to do really any kind of sight seeing you'll need to be mobile, more so than taking an Uber could provide. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the Firelite, a couple are more pricey and one is a pizza place that is more reasonable but in terms of experiencing the beauty of the area you really need to be able to move around easily. Be sure to check out Emerald Bay (arrive before 10 AM or prepare to have difficulty finding parking in the small parking lot!).
What logjamb said. There are taxi services available and I'm sure Uber and Lyft. But it would be a very expensive ride to Reno! Probably best to rent a car or use Amtrak.
