The Tahoe Vista Lodge & Cabins are located one mile west of the Rustic Cottages. Originally the Burrough's Resort built between 1943 and 1947 by Preston McKinley Burrroghs, this property has had many names and owners over the years. The resort was saved from the wrecking ball February 2002. All of the interiors have been refurbished and have private bathrooms, full kitchens, coffeemakers, televisions with HBO and video tape/DVD players, and of course, Benicia iron beds with nice linens. Although not all of the rooms are freestanding cabins, the property and rooms are overall larger than The Rustic Cottages, with choices of cabins, duplex cabins, and suites. The Tahoe Vista Lodge also has a swimming pool, along with beach access.

Great location, rustic feel, cool old pictures.
Some idiot forgot to put the chain on the garage after tossing their garbage out and the bear went on a frenzy.
Kept us up all night with banging of the lid.
Employees didn’t were masks during our stay, so we didn’t eat the free breakfast. It’s no wonder California has a huge covid problem.
Nice little private beach access across the street.
If rustic is what you want, you got it.
When I mentioned the bear, management sent me a dumb e mail. Not a class act.

we booked last minute for NYE and thank God there was still an available room! We werent really able to pick a room of our choice since it was the last room left, but we couldnt complain! The price was reasonably fair, and the place was really good! The locations was good- the beach was right across the street, it is near safeway and other stores (for all your needs), for snowboarding and skiing, it is also a few miles away from squaw valley and northstar. The cabin was complete with all the kitchen and dining utensils, we never had a problem preparing our food, plus there's also breakfast included, free cookies and coffee at the front desk!
Over all i think this was a good find, really an awesome place!

The lodge was very clean and it appeared to just recently have been totally remodeled. Extremely comfortable.Microwave oven, coffee pot and wet bar, with refrigerator. It also had a gas fireplace and a flat panel TV. Nice clean swimming pool, plus a continental breakfast. I thought a great value around a $100.00

We booked the lodge for a family reunion, and had trouble with such things as a toilet that wouldn't stop flushing, a refrigerator that wouldn't cool down, outlets that didn't work, lamps without bulbs, et cetera. The staff seemed indifferent to service requests. Wifi was spotty, and noise from the road was constant. At night, one would have to choose between sleeping hot with the windows closed or sleeping cool with constant noise. Bears were a daily nuisance, which was problematic with children around.

So run down! At least the Homewood Cottage. Broken down furniture, filthy entryway, ripped up carpet, ants all over bathroom (and no electrical outlet in the bathroom) and a disgusting ‘brown streak” on sheets. I had the sheets swapped out after sleeping on the comforter. I checked out a day early and was denied refund and told to send pictures to an email address. I did so, explaining everything, NO answer. No apology and obviously no refund for unused night.

The woman at the desk told me regarding the ants “well, we’re in the woods”. Duh. I’ve been coming to Tahoe my whole life and owned a cabin at one time. Then she said, “that’s many people’s favorite cabin”. Look at these pix and you be the judge.

I don’t know what’s happened here. They also own the Rustic Cottages down the road which have always been delightful (but were sold out). I have mixed feeling about posting a negative review for a mom and pop business but this was just beyond the pale.

This place is a great find - I usually stay at the Rustic Cottages but I didn't make my reservation in time and stayed here instead - It is a very cool property, set kind of on a hill so you somewhat have a view of the lake which is across the street about 200 yards away.

It has all sorts of different size cabins/cottages so there is lots to choose from.
This place has a history behind it as well , old school Tahoe at it's finest

Great north shore location, close by all sorts of activities skiing - hiking - biking etc

There is also free breakfast - it's very tasty

We originally booked our room at the Rustic Cottages resort and there was a problem so we were relocated to Tahoe Vista Lodge & Cabins. Nice surprise! We didn't know what to expect becuase we hadn't researched this location. We were pleasantly surprised. This location has a better view and the place was really nice. We stayed one night in Tahoe and loved every minute of it! We had a duplex cabin with two bedrooms and two daybeds in the living room. Plenty of room for the five of us. We had a great view of the Ponderosa pines and Lake Tahoe right from our front porch. The room was clean and the kitchen had all the kitchen ware you'd need to cook a full meal (bbq grill included). Swam in the pool (although it was a tad chilly) and had a great time with not a lot of people around (one other person). We did have some excitement when a bear came down a tree and ran up beside the cabin and into the manzanita bushes behind the cabin! Agh! Breakfast at the main lodge is included in the price but we didn't indulge. All in all, it was a great experience and we will definitely stay here if we visit Tahoe in the future!

Great quiet location. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Little kitchen with everything we needed for meals. Breakfast included at Rustic Cottages, we didn't try it but heard it was great. Cabins are closer than they appear to be on the map, but still plenty of privacy. We were able to park our car trailer next to the cabin and still had room for the truck. (Could be a problem in certain units or if they were totally booked) Great stay and can't wait to come back.

They tell you that there is an "easement" to get to the lake across the street but there is no beach access past the high water mark and the resort across the street next to this easement will kick you off their beach because it's private for their guests.
