Detailed Reviews
Tahoe Sands is a family friendly resort. We really felt the attention to detail when entering the room. It was SPOTLESS! Our kids loved being on the first floor. We could open our screen door and let them run around the courtyard, swing on the swing set, use the slide and play on the beach. Happy kids = happy mom.

Tahoe sands is the perfect place to rest your head at night after a long day of skiing. We typically ski at North star and we are so happy to have found this hidden gem. It is a quick drive to the mountain or you can take a free tart/ bus. Grocery store is very close by too. The location is too good.

We were lucky enough to be on the lakeside of the property and had a beautiful balcony view of lake tahoe. The staff were very nice and helpful giving us fantastic suggestions of local places to eat and activities for the kids. (It was our first time in Tahoe). Such happy and friendly faces working the resort. The best customer service!! They had brand new paddle boards to borrow and beach umbrellas! Also the beach was quite large. We had the best time at Tahoe Sands. Thank you for making our vacation unforgettable.

Had booked a studio for my best friends wedding 6 months in advance. l was so excited to check the place out and see if it was a good spot to have our family reunion next year. Unfortunately I will never know because they canceled my PAID RESERVATION less than a week before the trip. By Email, so I lost another day of scrambling to try and book any bed in the entire Tahoe area, which was of course completely booked or outrageously expensive by that close to the date.
When I called in shock at receiving a totally generic email saying they would be closed and here's your money back, the front desk person first asked how I booked my reservation and then told me they had a gas leak in the cabins.
no apology.
no offer to make it work at the inn.
no nothing.
I managed to find a really nice room for less than I paid before at America's Best Value Inn in Tahoe City (fantastic location and service btw) because they had a cancelation and didn't hike the price up like a good establishment should, and I took a drive through TS...
What do ya know!! no cabins being worked on and all looked occupied with parking all full.
And what kind of gas leak takes a week to fix?
I assume from their attitude they canceled my reservation and put someone else in my room at twice the price. Cool way to run a business guys. I know you are all struggling after the year of Covid, but so are we. I waited 2 years to see my friend get married and you almost made me miss it, and caused me considerable stress and worry when I was just trying to relax for the first time in forever.
This will be posted everywhere. Thanks for nothing Tahoe Sands.

I must first say that I never write bad reviews for businesses, especially during a time where local businesses are struggling to find employees and recovering after the pandemic. However, after countless times trying to resolve various issues with our visit in February, I felt the need to write a negative review.
We are former Tahoe residents, who now frequent north lake during ski season. We have stayed all over the lake, from rustic cottages to budget hotels. We are accustomed to accommodations not being ideal, and we deal with it, with no complaints. However, when it the unit lacks heat during one of the coldest weeks of the year, it's a deal breaker.
My son and I were really looking forward to staying at Tahoe Sands for ski week. We have stayed at the resort a few times, and refer our friends as well. I booked 5 days, and our friends stayed in another unit for 4 nights. A storm arrived for the first couple of days, with freezing temperatures, snow accumulation, and high winds. We arrived later in the day after dealing with heavy traffic during the storm. The cabin was cold when we arrived, so we turned on the little gas fireplace. As we sat in the kitchen area wearing our winter jackets and hats trying to keep warm, we noticed snow blowing in the front door of the cabin! At first we thought it was funny, as I quickly placed a large towel around the frame of the door where the snow was collecting. We soon realized that the heater in our cabin was not properly working. My son and I were beyond cold our first night, as the heater completely turned off during the night, and every night thereafter.
I notified the front desk, and we were given a space heater the next day. Even with the space heater and the dysfunctional gas fireplace, we were still extremely cold. I asked if we could change rooms (I even offered to clean our room), but that request was denied. I asked for a refund for the first night, or a discount at least, but that was denied as well. Had it not been such a busy week with everything booked around North Lake Tahoe and Truckee, we would have left the resort. By the end of our trip, my son and I had a terrible cold and flu. In all the years of staying at a place in Lake Tahoe, this was our worst experience.
We were highly disappointed with the response from the front desk. I even reached out to the main corporate offices (Grand Pacific Resorts) with no luck. There was also a discrepancy on our last bill where I was due a small amount of $21.84. I was just notified that my request for that amount was denied. Wow! I am still in shock over the lack of quality customer service and accountability at Tahoe Sands.

Similarly to other recent reviews, I just got a call today from Grand Pacific Vacation Services and was told they need to cancel my reservation (THAT I MADE IN MAY) due to ongoing construction and a gas leak at the Tahoe Sands Resort. With two weeks before our trip, this is the worst news we could get as now there is barely any availability around Tahoe and prices are insane. What a total scam!!! Definitely avoid at all costs - they don't deserve anyone's business.

The Tahoe Sands is located right on the incredible Lake Tahoe, but the two story unit on the lake side is in dire need of renovation. We stayed in a second floor two bedroom unti which had a leaking kitchen sink even after maintetance "fixed" it. The windows and sliding doors are in need of replacement as does the inside walls (paneling).

We booked this hotel months in advance. Less than 1 week before checking in, we were called and told they canceled our reservation due to a gas leak. The gas leak won’t be fixed until 1 month from today. Come to find out, this gas leak happened over 6 weeks ago and they’ve been calling people on very short notice, leaving us scrambling for another place to stay at the last minute. Will not go here, ever!

When we arrived at the property we were taken back by how run down it was. The landscape and buildings are in dire need of maintenance and upkeep. As soon as we got out of the car we noticed the green, mosquito invested pool. The room was clean, but very dated. I would not recommend this place. It was a total disappointment. I do not think it should be a RCI property because it certainly does not live up to the RCI standards.

Stayed here for a week. Location was excellent. Close to many restaurants and ski resorts. Resort is right on the beach. Units could use updating, especially bathrooms. Otherwise, nice place to stay. My kids took advantage of the play structure and hot tub. They have a fire pit you can use, just bring your own wood & smores.
