Hotel's Favourite
Loved our stay at a Lakeview studio cabin. This is a good cabin near the lake with all the amenities you can ask for. Cabin had good views of the Lake. We loved the pier and the park. Justin at front desk was very friendly and provided good suggestions for dinner and breakfast. Would love to stay again in future

I recently stayed at the Franciscan Lakeside Lodge for a wedding. The lodge is a nice place. I'm not sure if it was the location of the lodge I stayed in, or the lodge itself but there were some weird noises that happened from time to time...especially at night. It honestly could have been the sound of a bear, walking around but they also sounded like plumbing noises. I'm not too sure. Either way, that was a bit strange. Make sure you have all of your room supplies before the front office people leave at 9 PM. If you need extra towels, blankets, etc., there is nobody in the office after 9 PM who can give you what you need.
It would be nice if the room attendants put extra blankets in the closet - when my friends and I were going to bed our first night, we were looking for extra blankets in the closet and there weren't any. My friend who slept on the rollaway bed didn't have enough sheets to keep her warm. That was disappointing.
In general we had a nice time! It was a beautiful venue for the wedding.

Thanks for your review, and for your comments about possibly needing items for your room and not knowing that reception was closed from 9pm. We will make an effort to heighten guest awareness about ensuring that they are snug in their rooms before our team leaves for the day. We are delighted that you enjoyed the location and that the wedding was a success.

We showed up a day early and, Brian, the very helpful property manager, was able to accommodate us with a cottage on the water's edge. We loved it so much, we ended up changing our room and taking it for the rest of the week. The cottage was updated with a nice bathroom and kitchen. The bed was comfortable with crisp sheets and the bathroom had fluffy towels. The kitchen was immaculate and had everything we needed to cook several meals. Propane grills on the property were a bonus. The best part, of course, was the view. At the end of a day of hiking or biking, we were able to sit on the deck and watch the sky change colors over the mountains and the lake. On the practical side, we needed to combine work and vacation. The Internet was fast and reliable. I would definitely recommend this location to friends.

The only reason why I'm giving it two stars is because of the location and beautiful lake. Everything is close by (shops, restaurants) and walkable. They have the prettiest lake view right in front of the lodge. I assumed the lodge would be decent from their supposedly "4 star" lodge. I found out when checking in that their cabins are privately owned. Cabin 18 was not clean, it smelled old and stale, bathroom had mold in the shower, lights weren't' working and I felt so uncomfortable for my toddlers to be crawling around. It was so dirty that phone was sticky and it was just disgusting. The front desk never checked in on our stay and there was no cleaning services. The rooms definitely could use a upgrade, It was so outdated. I was so excited to stay from the reviews and photos I read and saw and it turned out to be such a disappointment. Not worth the price.

Thanks for your review Cindy. We have already replied to your same review on Google, but for the benefit of our TripAdvisor customers, I will copy and paste my reply here. It may be useful for you to note that we have a 4 bubble rating on TripAdvisor and this is not a 4 star lodge according to a tourism grading, but rather the average rating that we work hard for, as given by guests to the lodge. Our units are all privately owned but your comments go beyond anything to do with ownership. We take cleanliness and good maintenance seriously. We are investigating what caused the failure in the unit that you stayed in. We hope you will consider giving us a second chance.

Brian and Gabby were so friendly. We stayed in unit 12 one bedroom right on the water and loved the privacy beach. The cabin had everything we needed including a bbq right outside, lounge, chairs, and umbrella on the deck, chairs on the deck, 2 refrigerators, all the kitchen accessories etc. my kids and grandkids came and we had an amazing time. This was my second time staying there and I hope to go back again next summer.

We were excited to try this place for the 1st time. We were celebrating our 30th Anniversary. After checking out rooms online, I called to make reservation. The one thing we absolutely wanted was a fireplace. When we arrived a very sweet gal at front desk checked us in and assured us we had a lakefront room and fireplace. We got to our cabin and unpacked everything. Went out to deck to enjoy view. It was cool enough when sun went down so my husband tried to turn on fireplace but it didn't work. Too late for office so next morning I went to office. Same sweet girl said she would send out maintenance man and he came and said it needed a switch which would have to be ordered. Asked if we wanted to switch cabins and we said no after totally unpacking. When we got there dishwasher had 'out of order' sign on it. TV in bedroom didn't work. The last morning my husband went to make coffee and coffee maker didn't work after trying several different plugs. Thank goodness we had our spare coffee maker we always bring "just in case". It is a fantastic place as far as location, but I feel after the amount of money we spent to stay for 3 nights, everything should have been in working order. We made the best of it with the beautiful view from our deck, but overall it was a very big disappointment!!

The Franciscan is ideal for young families looking for easy beach access and a comfortable pool. The gradual, shallow water provides a large water play area for young and old. The lodge has a dock and is next door to the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area and Boat Launch. So, boating enthusiasts have easy access to their boats while staying on the property. Also, young families will enjoy quick access to North Tahoe Regional Park which has a great playground, open grassy fields and more. For mountain bikers, there is a terrific trail system right next to the lodge.

Celebrated my birthday week at the lodge. The location was amazing, we were right next to Lake Tahoe. The cabins are small, but equipped with a kitchen and small fridge. They had a free air hose so we could blow up our lake toys. It's close to the Safeway store and restaurants which also makes the location very convenient. It was quiet at night, with opportunity for many activities during the day. We had so much fun floating the lake all day and using the outdoor lakeside BBQs for making dinner in the evening as we watched the sunset! Kings Beach is right around the corner where they have outdoor concerts, volleyball and a great beach. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at unit 13 at the lodge. It’s is the best location...right on the beach. The unit is a one bedroom with a small kitchen. It is decorated very nicely and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved watching the sunsets while sitting on the deck just steps from the water. We were lucky to have great fall weather but even if it had been raining the place would be cozy to hang out in. We will definitely be back.

We booked last minute and were immediately taken with this magical place. The studio was perfect for a weekend away, the views were breathtaking, and the staff were so helpful - going out of their way to make recommendations and give us a great experience. Will definitely be back!

We realize that pets are so important to many guests, but the Franciscan units have a uniform policy about not allowing pets, which was taken by the rental committee which is made up of owners. There are a number of complications relating to cleaning and allergies when pets are allowed. You may find a unit at the Franciscan on a vacation rental platform which allows pets, because they do their own cleaning privately.
No, we are not pet friendly.
