The Kimpton Canary is a charming boutique hotel on Carrillo just off State Street. It is a great location and close to shopping and restaurants. Friendly staff (valet, reception & bellman) made us feel most welcome. Room was lovely...everything you would expect and more.

Running toilet, homeless people everywhere including the valet parking garage, pet friendly yet no potty area but 5 blocks away, awful restaurant, hotel public restrooms are dirty and lack toilet paper and hand towels. What else could be worse? Not worth the price. Look

Shoebox34, I'm terribly sorry this has been your experience at the Canary. I assure you the Canary is working directly with the city and Visit Santa Barbara to provide the best solution and support to any homeless transient in and around our neighborhood. Knowing we have no direct responsibility for the outcome or perceived challenges faced by the city, I will say that we have direct control over the other issues you faced. It is not common practice for us to deliver subpar amenities and products within our four walls. What you listed out would inevitably put us out of business if we allowed for those circumstances to occur on a daily basis. I am sorry that they occurred during your stay and it's no surprise that we inspired a low rating from you. Please do not hesitate to connect with me personally by calling the hotel and asking for Ben Thiele (teelee) the general manager. As this is not the experience we set out to deliver, I'd like to see if there is any other information you can provide me regarding your meal at Finch and Fork as well as the amenities and suggestions offered to you for your pet accommodations. I hope to hear from you in the near future. All my best, Ben Thiele General Manager - Kimpton Canary

There is no better escape than to take an Amtrak train to Santa Barbara and stay at the Canary Hotel. Quaint, hip and locally inspired boutique hotel. Located right off State Street it is convenient to shopping, dining at amazing restaurants, and to catch up on alone time with

We love hosting quick getaways or staycations! No better way to get here than a trip on the Amtrak (which drops off just a few blocks from the hotel). We're so happy that you gave us an opportunity to host you while you ventured out to Santa Barbara. Next time you are planning your weekend getaway don't hesitate to give us a call so we can help you plan your trip. We look forward to hosting you again in the near future! This is honestly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! We stayed here for about a week, and loved everyday of it. The room was great! The gym was great! The food was delicious, the roof top pool was very nice, and the view from the top showed Santa Barbara's beauty.

Woohoo!! Anwarrior101 feel free to come visit us anytime you'd like!! I'm happy to see that you made your way around the property to experience all we have to offer. We had a St Patrick's Day gathering last night with guests and locals and I was reminded once again how absolutely beautiful that roof top view is for our guests and visitors. We usually have fun packages and promotions running for specific times of the year that help in showcasing our local partnerships and hotel amenities. Make sure to check out website or give us a call directly when planning your next visit to Santa Barbara. We'd be more than happy to help you navigate the best option for your travel budget. See you again soon...up on the roof top for a sunset cocktail, perhaps? All my best, Ben Thiele General Manager - Kimpton Canary

A good value hotel not far from the main action. Staff were very good and met all our needs. Special mention to the door staff who went out of their way to assist with our questions. I recommend this hotel.

PDTessier, thank you for recommending the Canary on one of the largest traveler ranked platforms. Talk about getting the word out there! We appreciate the personal time you took to write the review and share your experience with our bellman and valet team. Beautiful properties are not hard to come by these days, but without a passionate and committed staff breathing life into the hotel most experiences have a tendency to fall flat. Glad to see we kept our promise is delivering genuine service. Hope to see you again in the near future! All my best, Ben Thiele General Manager - Kimpton Canary

How big is the pool? Can you do laps in it?
The pool is on the terrace on the roof of the hotel - great location. The pool is small - no room for swimming laps! It is a fantastic hotel.

What are the hours of the pool?
The pool is open 7 am to 10 pm. My friends and I definitely could have lingered later in the spa at night... but they do enforce the hours! Absolutely beautiful pool and jacuzzi.

Full sized gym, not a hotel work out room. It's right next door so not in the building, however.

Is there parking available if so how much does it cost ?
There's valet and a public lot. Sometimes the valet gets thrown in sometimes it's extra. Depends on season and package booked klimpton status etc

"Want a small private balcony without breaking the bank, go for a Premier King Balcony."
