We were looking for a budget hotel to stay in to complete some remaining work when we couldn't keep staying at the place our work had for us. We wanted a place with a fridge and microwave. Well, we got this place which was the only one that explicitly said that had both. We pay for it in advance at a "good deal" just to find out why when we opened the door of our room. The room smelled really bad, like the curtains and the carpet have never been clean. While the linen, towels, and areas seemed clean, the feeling was different and I had to walk to a 24 hrs convenience store close by (it was late) to get glade and a perfumed candle to be able to handle the smell. Apparently, people either smoke inside rooms or come with wet dogs that rub themselves on the carpet. Then we found we cannot turn on the bathroom light because the air extractor makes a horrible loud noise if turned on. Then the microwave didn't turn and was also making some weird electrical noises. The coffee maker seemed clean but in the water container are seemed weird, so I needed to clean it. Some of the receptacles do not work either. At least the A/C worked perfectly fine and with the fan running continuously we couldn't feel the smell so badly. We asked a woman from housekeeping that was at the front building for some sugar and more coffee, she said she cannot help because she's assigned to another building and asked us to look for the one at our building, which cannot be seen around at all. Later we saw housekeeping from our building and mentioned to her the issues we were having but she said she couldn't do anything because our room was not on her list neither it was her job. We went to the front desk and they wanted to send someone to check. I refused because we were going out and all our belongings were there and there is no place to hide or lock belongings. We come to the Sonoma Coast frequently and we were exploring some other staying options, this one is not one of them. As my husband said, "this place is the dream job of any remodeling makeover TV show"!!…
I reserved a room through my Choice Hotels account. Upon arrival, there was a line. The guy in front of me was having key problems. I presented my reservation information and confirmation number. The clerk, who later claimed her name was "Tonya" demanded i.d., then played with the computer for a minute and said there was no reservation under my name. I again pushed the reservation information in front of her and suggested she check it by the confirmation number. This was obviously a mistake on my part as you'll soon see. First, Tonya sent us to a second floor room in a back building. The bed had been made, but a box with drugs and more drugs of all types were strewn across a table. We carried our baggage back down the stairs, reloaded it into our vehicle, and went back to the front desk. When I told her of the situation, "Tonya" acted as if she didn't believe me. "Well, does it look like someone is staying there" was her refrain. Finally, I told her I didn't know and didn't care if someone was there or not and demanded another room. "Tonya" grinned, started off another time, and gave me a key, again to an upstairs room. We went to the room and the beds weren't made and there was trash all over the floor. Again, lug luggage back downstairs, repack it, and head back to the desk. When she saw me coming, it was obvious she was pretty amused with herself. I demanded she call a manager. She refused. I demanded an immediate refund. She said she would do that but would try to find me a room first. She looked up a room and gave a key to a security guard to check it. She then said I would have to take it as it was her last room or she would refund the money.. This sounded more like a threat. I was told she had to help other customers. I said "I don't know how you can help other customers when you don't have any more rooms, but ad I suspected, this turned out to be a lie as she indeed provided a room to another customer. The guard returned and said the room was clean. We went to the room and not only was it not the type room we reserved, but also filthy. I believe their idea of clean is making a bed and changing towels as the floors where disgusting, insects were present, s I meshing that looked like dog food was lurking beside the dirty refrigerator, and dirt was caked up in corners under the scratched, mildew, and dirty walls. See for yourself in the photos. I know the Rodeway brand is the ultra budget line of Choice Hotels, but this room cost over $100. I guess the extra costs were for the incompetence, hateful attitude, and the dirt.…
I am staying at a cheaper motel. My expectations were very low. If my wife was here, we would have left. This is for work and I am on a budget. That being said… the room was pleasant enough. I have low tolerance for the marijuana, boom. Right there as I opened the door. I travel with febreeze so it helped. The room was presentable but nothing spectacular. I was pleased to find a fridge and microwave. There was no dust where the cleaning folks could reach. The room is dated. The light fixtures were adequate. Everything seemed to work. The floor was carpeting, I dislike that, Personally. I will survive, but I am bummed and they should check the “other” similar motels. I understand your clientele, for my monies, I expected better.
The first thing you notice about this place is the smell of the room. It has a wall mount AC that pulls all the cigarette smoke from the hallway right into the room with you so the room reeks as soon as you walk in. The room was run down. No carpet and the flooring was sticky. Kept my socks on after I noticed that. Patched holes in the walls ALL OVER. Drug deals going on in the parking lot. People standing around in the parking lot smoking all evening. Sirens all night long. Yelling all night long. Had to stay here because my wife is in the hospital in Santa Rosa and I was out of options. Won't be back for a second night. Went elsewhere. Avoid this place folks. The $147 a night is laughable and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Rodeway Wine Country, has been our home away from home; & we couldn’t be happier with the service we’ve gotten since. It’s been nothing but generous, flexible and helpful throughout everything. They have well kept rooms that are spacious and include refrigerator & microwaves for TV dinners and late night ice cream stashes that much better. The maids go above and beyond their duties supplying everything you need and more; especially while covid-19 has started they have made sure rooms and lobby and balcony areas are above government standards. Take time to visit, promise you won’t regret the great staff and amazing prices for a good stay!
