We have stayed in other B&B's in Napa and this place is hands down the best. We are clean freaks and noticed right away how clean the room was. The rooms had everything we needed from a blow dryer, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel dispenser, and bubble bath for the tub. The little courtyard area is also nice to sit in when its not too cold out. The hosts, Jamie & Jim, are what made our experience amazing . They made us feel comfortable and welcome like talking to old friends. Champagne, vegan cookies, and truffles were waiting in our room when we arrived. We are vegan and Jim made us such creative and delicious breakfasts. You can tell there was a lot of thought and time put into our breakfast from the variety of cut up fruit to the little pastries before our main breakfast. Jim would personally come out of the kitchen to let us know what he made for us. I felt like we were at a fancy vegan restaurant! Location was perfect. Within 15 minutes drive to the main wineries and less than a 10 min walk to downtown Napa for dinner and cute shops. We will be back!

Dear Kristi C, We love clean freaks and our staff does an amazing job on the rooms and I will be sure to pass along your praise! Jim loves to wow our vegan guests and he serves the same breakfast as the non-vegans enjoy! He appreciates your confirmation that the effort is absolutely worth it! Thanks so much for taking the time to write your review here, we appreciate so very much. Hope to see you again in the not too distant future, lots more great vegan version of breakfast await you!

Property's Favourite Review
It's not easy to plan a romantic weekend wine tasting getaway during a pandemic, but The Inn on First made it easy to forget all about it. I spotted it on a review site and decided it looked like it would fit the bill...unique, upscale, and comfortable. I booked room #4 ("The Angel's Share") along with the Lover's Package (heart shaped rose petals on the bed, and a bottle of champagne.) Arrival at the inn was easy. The secluded parking lot in the back has a beautifully landscaped path to the mansion. The grounds are quite enticing, and only built the anticipation in us. Once inside, our room key was easy to obtain. The mansion is beautifully appointed and, if not for covid, it would have been the perfect place to meet and mingle with other guests. All I can say is that the main floor exudes "class." Once in the room, my lady was left speechless by the appearance. Room 4 is spacious, and tastefully decorated with a well planned mix of modern and antique features befitting of a historic mansion. The rose petals on the bed were absolutely amazing and filled the room with a luscious scent. I have roses at home, but none have such amazing petals such as these were! All I can say is that it was over the top! Champagne was at the ready, along with amazing homemade chocolate chip cookies and truffles. Absolute heaven! On top of that, the iPad in the room had romantic music playing, which was a very thoughtful way to set the mood. Very well done! After seeing the room, I completely understand why Jim and Jaime ask the no candles be brought to the inn. So I brought a handful of led votive lights from the dollar store, and that was a perfect substitute! Morning breakfast was absolutely amazing! Ours was a "pop tart" filled with chipotle ricotta topped with an over-medium egg and a berry sauce on the side. Oh my goodness, it was unbelievably delicious! We are already planning a return visit and will book the private wine tour as well. What a perfect escape from the pandemic! It will be hard to imagine how the Inn on First can be better without covid restrictions, but something tells me it is!!

Dear Mark J, the most important thing is you had a great time during your romantic getaway, and that's what we're trying to achieve. You mentioned so many details of your stay, but I have to tell you how much Jim enjoyed creating that pop tart breakfast! A little whimsy and a lot of flavor! We're thrilled you had a good time and our so pleased to hear you'll be returning, that's music to our ears. Until then please continue to stay safe and thanks for taking the time to share your experience here. We appreciate it very much. Jamie & Jim

Location, lovely and laudable- Location: Stay here and walk into the heart of downtown Napa for evening dining! A 10 minute stroll past pretty homes and stores lands you in the center of town. Lots of action and restaurants to choose from! Lovely: The mansion’s dining room is a lovely setting for breakfast with a giant wooden table in a cheery, lemon walled room! Our bedroom was large and comfortable, with whirlpool tub for 2, fireplace and seating area! Laudable: The hosts were gracious and flexible to serve us a last minute breakfast on the day of our arrival in lieu of the next morning as we had to depart at 6 AM. Thank you for your kind consideration, the breakfast was delicious and accommodating for my Gluten Free request.

Dear lynnita30, Our location is really unbeatable, and you describe it perfectly here! So many great restaurants, and lots of shopping etc., all within a 10 to 20 minute walk from the inn. Guests are definitely enjoying the "reconfigured due to Covid" dining in the common areas, and that soaking tub (now with bubble bath included) is a big hit too. We were happy to serve you a breakfast free of gluten, and we're just glad we could work it out! Thanks so much for your thoughtful review and for taking the time to post it here.

Jamie and Jim are the perfect hosts in Napa. Months ahead of our stay they emailed to see how we had heard about the Inn. When I told them my wife had stayed there over 10 years ago they asked for her name to be sure they didn't repeat a breakfast they had served her... Ten years earlier!! This level of care in detail go into every aspect of the experience of staying at The Inn on First. We got fantastic recommendations for restaurants within walking distance, and great vineyards a bit off the beaten path. The breakfasts prepared by Jim are some of the best I have ever eaten; delicious, and personalized to specific dietary and taste considerations. We can't wait to stay with them again on our next trip.

Dear Jim A, You've mentioned a commitment from Jim to never repeat breakfast for a returning guest, and even those he has more than 165 different breakfasts in the hopper he would never want to take a chance! We're just so happy to know that after ten years her first trip was memorable enough to bring you both to the inn. We're also very happy you enjoyed the breakfasts as much as yo did and that you took advantage of our proximity (walking distance!) to the world class restaurants in downtown Napa. We're always happy to share our almost fifteen years of experience in the valley with our guests. Trying to choose wineries can be overwhelming as there are so many! Thanks again for being here and for taking the time to share your time with us here on Tripadvisor.

I cannot imagine a better spot for a small get-together in Napa. While I've stayed in hotels around the world, when you come to Napa, you want something more intimate. The Inn on First is our favorite. The moment my head hits the pillow I fall fast asleep only to wake up in the morning to freshly brewed coffee and an amazing breakfast. Jamie and Jim - the owners - take nothing for granted and make sure that all your questions are answered in advance of your visit. Their guidance allowed us to secure drivers for the three days of wine-tasting and at night, we could take a leisurely walk to some of the best restaurants in town. We've stayed at the Inn at least three times and I cannot imagine visiting Napa and not staying there. Part of the beauty of the area are the beautiful old homes and elegant gardens. You get that and more at the Inn. Can't wait to go back.

Dear Gail, First and foremost thank you so very much for your repeat visits, we enjoying seeing you both every time. We're happy to hear the "beds" and the "breakfast" are always to your liking. It's kind of critical to the concept, right? :) You've also proven that with a little advance planning anyone can have their best Napa experience even in the height of the busy season. We're happy to have helped along the way. We look forward to seeing you next time and thanks for taking the time to share here.
