Amazing hotel. Staff all so friendly and go out of their way to make the stay a wonderfully memorable experience. Lively big rooms with very comfy pillows and mattresses. Good shower but could be slightly more powerful., but adequate. Great basic pool with 2 hot tubs (one adults only). Laundry machines available as well if you don’t want stacks of dirty washing to take home. Good restaurant but limited gluten free options. This is the only area I fe could do with improvement. Free hourly shuttle bus to Universal Studios and City Walk. Also can drop off at metro links to city. Just off freeway so driving to city attractions or using Uber is easy way to get around. Definitely recommend if you want a relaxing stay with staff who want you to enjoy your experience.

Whenever I’m back in LA I always stay at the Garland… It’s central, it’s beautifully run and for Los Angeles, the prices are actually reasonable! Despite that I’m not an enormous fan of 70s retro, I actually kinda love what they’ve done with the place!🧡 The rooms are delightful, comfortable, the beds are perfect… Not too soft just firm enough.. Love the Lather brand products they feature in the bathroom… Everything feels luxurious without one’s having spent a kings ransom. Many many many years ago I recall it was the Howard Johnsons… After all those years and several incarnations, it’s evolved once again, it’s immensely popular and like I said, very very well run.. The staff at the reception desk are always helpful, welcoming and courteous, and the Front Yard restaurant is excellent!!

The Garland is a beautiful boutique hotel. Room are quiet, clean and furnished in a darling 1970 vibe (LOVE!) Seriously, the layout of the room is fabulous (from the bench where you can take your shoes off, to the the very large bathroom). The grounds are quaint and immaculately kept up. However, the crowning jewel is the staff. From the minute we arrived - to the loading of our luggage for departure, we were treated royally. This was our first time staying here and even though it rained the whole time, we can't wait to come back!

We stayed at The Garland on our trip to LA in January 2023 (I'm late doing my review). I was on a 1:1 trip with my 11yo son. The hotel was fabulous, and reasonable value for money in comparison to another options. The pool is huge, with movies some evenings at the poolside. There is also two hot tubs, one for adults and one for families. There was an outdoor fire and food service too. The whole complex is spacious and well appointed. The lobby had a number of seating/waiting options, the bar area both inside and out to the pool, and then the restaurant, which seemed to be busy with locals also. Our room was modest, but clean and the decor was fun. Would absolutely recommend and stay again.

Great hotel, with excellent facilities. Room was well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. We ate breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant, called "The Front Yard ". The food was all excellent. Every member of staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the metro B line station and runs a free shuttle service.

This hotel is so cool! You’ll be immediately greeted by welcoming and friendly staff and be instantly taken by the charm of the decor. It’s cozy and retro at the same time. The rooms are equally cool with lots of comfortable amenities. Don’t miss the chance to dine at the adjacent restaurant The Patio - delicious food and more great service. We stayed here while visiting from San Diego to see The Getty but if you’re coming to LA to go to Universal Studios they have a retro shuttle bus that takes you there. Loved this place 10 out of 10.

I stayed here from 29th January until 3rd feb and would highly recommend. From the moment I walked in, I could tell it was a beautiful well kept hotel. The reception staff were very kind and attentive. Check in was nice and smooth and i headed to my room. The room was lovely. First time I’ve stayed in America where I had a balcony and it was such a welcome change. The room was of a good sized, comfy bed, mini fridge, safe, toiletries. The bed was made every day and towels changed daily. Lots of TV channels to choose from. I used the gym every day, it was open 24 hours and I used it in the mornings before my activities. Very well kept gym with treadmills, weights, kettlebells, stair master, towels and some headphones. Water fountain in there also. Swimming pool looked a decent size with a hot tub in the corner. There was also a laundry room near by. Only used the front yard restaurant once during my stay but it was very nice, was always busy in there and they do recommend you book. The hotel also lays on daily activities throughout the week such as a happy hour, courtyard games, movie nights by the pool. One of the other bonuses was the free shuttle to universal studios which I used a couple of times. It goes every hour from 8am and drops you right by the front entrance. I didn’t venture out the hotel but there were a few shops away about a 10-15 minute walk away. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and would very much consider staying here again if I came to LA again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Garland. The staff were helpful and friendly. This was summed up when we went for an early morning walk 7:30 am ( time difference) on our first morning. It was a great way to get to know the surroundings. It was free and one of the organised events that the hotel offer. We were the only 2 on it so got a personal tour ( the Brady bunch house ) and other points of interest Got to know a bit of the history of the hotel. We offered a tip at the end of the, but he refused and said it had been a pleasure. Thank you. The room was spacious and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Tv lots of channels and a coffee machine which was regularly replenished. The pool which we didn’t go in looked great and also had a hot spa attached. The gym was well equipped again not used by us except to get water from the cooler. The grounds and surroundings are very quirky. The hotel attached restaurant ( the front yard was really good ate 3 out of 5 nights) It offers a free trolley service to Universal studios every hour which was useful. Now the draw backs which they can’t do anything about - location. It is not really near any other restaurants hence 3 out of 5 nights, but it is good remember. If you want to visit Universal it’s a no brainer to stay here. We did get ubers to Malibu $34 dollars each way and the trips can pick you up for an extra charge. All in all we enjoyed our time here.

This was our first visit to The Garland. We stayed for 3 nights on a quick visit to Hollywood. We were very pleased with the hotel it’s a hidden gem with old Hollywood style with modern convenience. Friendly greeting from the car parking valet and bell easy check in. All the staff there were always friendly. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of items or you could order from the menu. Easy to Uber into Hollywood or you can use the free shuttle to Universal. We would definitely stay there again.

The Garland is perfect for a quick weekend trip to Universal! The location is perfect the shuttle is even better. 36 for parking is a little much especially if staying longer than the weekend. The pool is not heated as advertised but the Jacuzzi's make up for that. The room is basic but clean! The way the balcony door open & close is ridiculous. All together the hotel is a decent.

Thank you for your review regarding your stay. We are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced regarding the pool and the balcony door. Our pool is supposed to be heated and we will follow up on this with our engineering team. As for the parking we do our best to be competitive for our area and our parking fees are some of the lowest compared to our competitors. Regardless we do hope that you enjoyed your time in LA and hope to see you again for any future trips.
