Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

I’ve stayed at The Freehand in Miami and loved it so I thought I would give the DTLA location a try. I was disappointed. It was a little dated and dark and just kind of meh. I had a King private room. Noise wasn’t an issue. My biggest disappointment was that the restaurant

We had a business trip to LA and will not forget this place. It was absolutely fantastic. The place is just cool and the pool on the roof was rocking on Saturday afternoon. The staff were great and the food in the restaurant was excellent. I wan to go back ...now.

After visiting the Freehand in Gramercy Park, NY - I was so excited to book a two night stay in downtown LA. Upon arrival, I was guided through self-check in at a kiosk and was given my key and pointed towards the elevators. That's it for a welcome. Efficient, I get it and

If I were 25 this hotel would be amazing, but I'm not. The lobby and bar are great, and the rooms are functional. If your room faces the street, good luck sleeping late, my room (200) was loud and the red light from the restaurant streamed into the room between the wood

The Freehand is a very cool spot. It's very trendy and has a cool atmosphere. Those are the highlights. On the downside, although it is a hotel, I would not recommend staying here if you are trying to rest. It's very loud because they have a roof top bar and a huge lobby bar

Thanks for the review and feedback Jess! We always value what our guests have to say so thank you for taking your time to reach out. I am very glad you had a great time eating and drinking at our outlets, but am sorry the noise from them did alter your overall stay. We do have alternative rooms available that are on the south side of the building and face our specially painted artwell mural wall offering the best night sleep in terms of noise. Finally, we also have complimentary earplugs available at the desk as needed too. I hope these help for next time Jessica and we look forward to having you back soon! Cheers, Elizabeth.

Hi Rodrigo, thank you for reaching out. Yes each dorm room has an individual locker for each individual bed. You can bring your own lock or buy one at the front desk. The Locker size is large enough for a medium suitcase or large carry on bag. We can also hold bags free of charge for you the day of check in, during your stay or check out. See you soon! PS 16ellisk is not affiliated with the hotel and you should not call them.

Hi Matt, our beds are 6 foot. All do have their own power outlet and you can always make a request (we can't guarantee it unfortunately) but will do our best! Cheers, FHLA

Is this a hotel or hostel???
Hi Lizse, it is certainly both. We have private rooms available as well as our shared options too. All guests have access to all our amenities though including our rooftop pool and bar, lobby restaurant, lobby bar, cafe, shared lounge and kitchen and 24 hour gym as well as free wifi. As the others have alluded to it is very comfortable whichever option you choose and a great place to check out even if you don't book with us in LA! Hopefully we catch you soon, cheers, FHLA
