Detailed Reviews
The location of the motel is terrific! It is right on the lake with a VERY small beach. The beach was nice, but it would probably be really crowded in the summertime. The other good things: The staff were very friendly and kind. The pool and hot tub are great, with a lovely lake view. It was very quiet even though there were several families in our area/building with children. There are restaurants within walking distance. The not-so-good: The room was VERY small. The beds were uncomfortable, too soft. They probably need to get new mattresses. The water in the shower took a LONG time to warm up. The TV offerings suck. They have fire stick TV, and you need to log into your own accounts, if you have them. The cost of accommodations in the area is quite expensive, and for the price I expect things to be a bit more updated. It would be nice if this place offered simple breakfast, which they did not while we were there.

Hotel's Favourite
Really comfortable bed. Kitchen had small fridge/freezer, 2 ring hob, actual kettle which meant I could make a proper cup of tea, microwave. Dishes and some pans, cutlery, can opener.
Some steps up to room which were hard work for me with a bag but the payoff was a lovely view of the lake.
Wifi worked well. Parking was easier than I first expected when I saw the layout.

To start, will I come back to the Crown and recommend it to family? Absolutely yes. Are there some things they can work on? Also yes. First, the we had was great. VERY clean, had almost everything we needed in the little kitchenette and a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. The one downside was there was no coffee maker or coffee available. In peak season they offer coffee in the rec area but on our trip there was none available and none in the room. There was tea available and a hot water maker. They could easily provide instant coffee in the room if they aren’t going to offer it in the rec area. Luckily there is coffee places next door to purchase coffee. Outside of the room, the facility has a lot of amenities such as outdoor fireplaces, a pool, spa, bbqs, and lawn games. Overall very well equipped. There were 2 disappointing things we noticed however that can be easily fixed. It seems that although there are groundskeepers/staff around they don’t thouroughly check the common areas regularly. On our second night there was apparently some incident near the lawn area where someone threw up and spilled a drink. There was also some trash left. None of this was cleaned up that day or the next 2 days. It could have been easily hosed down, but instead was left there. The second thing was that the outdoor fireplaces ran out of propane leaving only one usable. Again, both of these can be easily fixed with a little attention paid and I hope this feedback is taken seriously by management because this hotel is great and we did enjoy our stay overall.

Good location. Unfortunately, the cleaners came into our room at 8:30am while we were out (check out time is 11am) and threw away everything, maybe assuming that we already left. We tried to follow up with the hotel but were just told "we cleaned too early sorry".

So the coolest thing other than being on the lake is the lending of paddleboards. Rentals cost 50 per an hour next door and hotel guests get to borrow we borrowed 3 really high quality boards with lifevests for free. Literally the cost of the room would be simply renting three boards for an hour

I can't speak to all of the rooms in the hotel as I believe some are still a bit dated, but the Lakeside Kings (or Lakeside Queens), are the place to stay. The rooms have been updated (although still some rough edges) and are more in the style of a Hyatt Place or a Fairfield Inn. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Big window looks out to the lake and there is wicker bench just outside the door where you can sit and enjoy the morning or the sunset. The hotel has nice firepits in a couple of places with a couple of cornhole games and a giant jenga. There are also patio tables around that area. I didn't go into the pool or hot tub, but they were both warm and people seemed to be enjoying them, so I'm going with clean as well. Would stay again. Probably a little over-priced for what it is, but the lakeside location and views are really lovely.

Came here during off season and was pleasantly surprised! Gabriel in the office greeted me with a warm welcome and he was so pleasant and hospitable. Since it was such a slow part of the season, he took the liberty of upgrading me to a lake view room without me having to ask which I greatly appreciated. The room was lovely with gorgeous lake views-all glass doors, floor to ceiling. The room was cozy and modern and the bed super comfy. The reception has a cute section with locally made gifts. The hotel is literally right on the lake and beach where you can stroll for a long ways. I can’t wait to come back here and visit in the summer. I felt so welcomed and cared for from the moment I walked in the door. Highly recommend a stay here!

Perfect location on the lake! Central to all of North Tahoe.
Steps to the beach, lounge chairs on the sand, rentals right there.
Pool and hot tub with a view.
Play area with fire pits and seating.
Clean rooms and the Jr. Suite was perfect for the kids to sleep in the small extra room (although keep in mind the room is not totally closed off, it's a barn door, so don't expect complete privacy). Small kitchenette was convenient for some minor cooking (and they have BBQs outside).
Clean, updated, comfy.
Pastries, oatmeal and hot beverages in the am were nice.
Only issue we had was one of the weekend nights there was a loud group hanging out in the common area and that kept us up past 10pm. We notified the staff and they said they would handle but the party continued until 11:30pm or so. Motel offered a discount on our next stay. Everything else was so great we will definitely come back!

Nice clean place.....I'd stay there again.......which says a lot. Well located on the lake with all one would want......pool, hot tub, game area with "lawn bowling", cornhole, ping pong, clean restroom in the "rec" area. 1 minute walk to coffee, a couple good restaurants a minute away. Accommodating staff.
The only knock....they say pet friendly, which they were but I didn't see the $45/night pet fee on the website.
As I said, I'd stay there again.

Reno airport is 43 miles from Kings Beach, quickest way would be through Higway 80, there is no need to go around the lake to get to us. We do not have a shuttle service. If you choose not to rent a car call the North Lake Tahoe Express they will get you up here but you have to book your ticket with them.
Buenas tarde, nos encontramos aproximadamente a unos 15 o 20 minutos de Squaw Valley.
Gracias por su interes en nosotros,
