'The Glen' has been one of the Far South's watering holes since 1904. Initially a private residence, it was later established as grand hotel. A favorite of locals as well as visitors. Restaurant, courtyard and pub in the main building. Commercial strip next door has a pizza restaurant, entertainment bar (biker theme), collectables shop, tourist information and a scuba rental and dive shop. Don't miss the Southern Right Whales in spring.

Paul in the pub is very cheerful and helpful, what a pleasure! The pub is full of character and has beautiful views. Reasonable priced too! I cannot comment on the accommodation, but I know it is very affordable for the budget traveller.

Very pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are OK. But could do freshen up . The hospitality more than up for it though. This location is just putting your head down though. Please do not expect the Crown Jewels though.

Had a good stay at Glen Lodge. First room (2) not very nice & a bit of a smell about it, but moved to room 1 with good sea view and generally much nicer. Catherine who was on duty was lovely, very helpful and attentive.
We ate in the bar, with beautiful sea views, and sheltered even though it was a vey windy day. The food and service (Catherine again!) was very good.

The photo placed on the website is NOT what you see when you get there. It is really an old building. The owner who is renting the place really tried her best and it is quite interesting with all the shells and glass hanging in front of the windows. The rooms are quite big and not too bad overall.
But there is a Coke fridge in the room and the light is on, making a terrible noise the whole night. It sounds like a broken air conditioner.
Breakfast was good the first morning. But the second morning we were told the chickens did not lay any eggs. Really??? Luckily we had our own pate, cocktail tomatoes and cheese. Otherwise I am afraid breakfast would have been only bread and jam. There was also no yoghurt like on the first morning.
The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly and really very entertaining as well.
I would stay there again albeit only for her. Otherwise the place not really worth it at all.

Small lodge that can teach many bigger establishments how to treat guests. Inexpensive means anything but cheap the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot. Little touches mean everything: I told the owner, Grete, I had to leave for work early in the morning - before the breakfast room would open. No problem, she said, and put cereal, milk, juice and yoghurt in my room fridge for me.

The place is old and quirky, and that's its charm.

Had supper in restaurant in the same building - the grilled fish - and I'd recommend it. The waiter, Catherine, too: she's very attentive, and kind. The two highest words of praise I can give a waitress are attentive and kind.

Had lunch here Saturday while visiting from the US with friends who work in Kinshasa. Food was ok - reasonably good Caesar salad. Service was a bit slow and not as attentive as I'm used to - this has been the case throughout South Africa on my trip though.

Sunday Lunch. The pub and restaurant were very busy but service was still good and friendly. They got our lunch choice mixed up but we're extremely apologetic but made amendments as well as offering a free drink. Food was excellent and well priced. Nice view and vive.

This was the quick lunch stop in search of fish and chips, while driving around the Cape peninsula. The Glen Lodge and Pup provided a fantastically tasty Fish and Chip lunch with local beer. While eating there is a great view to look out over from the outside deck seating area. Really lovely.

Would suggest a stay. Most enjoyable hospitality and food at reasonable prices. Hope to return, soon. of interest is the purported haunting of the hotel. I did experience some strange sounds in the wee hours, but nothing more...The new proprietors, in my opinion, are doing a sterling job of making their guests welcome and deserve support. Loved the veranda bar with the mist rolling across the bay. My review is glowing and I rate the establishment to be excellent.
