Horrible place with surly staff, noisy rooms, and penny pinch to the point they charge you extra if you use more than one roll of toilet paper for 2 people on a 4-day stay! The location is decent, but that is the closest to anything I can find to say positive about this dump.
This is very much of a "you get what you pay for" type of lodging post. Rather than drive back to LA during weekday traffic I chose to just get a highly rated motel on Hotwire for around $50. When I book cheap places my only expectations are for the room to be clean (especially during covid), a comfortable bed, good water pressure, easy parking, and it being safe. Got 2 out of 5 here lol. Check in took awhile and they read you the riot act about pets, smoking, and late check out fees. I don't smoke and had no pets with me, and wasn't planning on leaving late anyway, but they really go out of their way to make it clear to you which I guess is good but it felt like they an interrogation. Parking lot is small however in the event you don't get a spot (honestly you should unless you are coming in late), there was plenty of off site free parking anyway. At first glance the room looked clean however there were used paper towels in the microwave and a lot of residue on the bathtub. I plan on doing a lot of 1 night stays back and forth during covid for medical appointments so I will carry Clorox wipes now. I don't know how house keeping could have missed this tbh, and I hope I didn't catch anything from what I did touch. My window also had views of someone's fence-less backyard with a view for their trailer lol (that's okay though). Just found it funny. Had I been staying there more than 1 night and had I noticed this earlier, I would have said something but I noticed it in the early evening and had already changed into pjs. The bed was not comfortable. You will feel the springs in the mattress. The walls are also thin so wear headphones and/or bring earplugs. Reviews mention noise from the fridge. I heard it too along with noise from the AC/Heater and it wasn't even turned on lol. Water pressure was bad and no hot water from the sink. Location was good. In a safe area, across from the train track (never heard the train), a few minutes from the beach, and less than 10 minutes from the 5, and from a shopping center with Ralph's, Rite Aid, and restaurants. Not terrible by any means considering the price I pad, but if for a little more I could get a place cleaner with a more comfortable bed I would probably do that.…
Rodeway is a budget motel chain but this location is near the beach on PCH in affluent Leucadia(Encinitas); so my cost per night of approx $65 is a good value. The room was clean, large, with 2 queen beds and hot bathtub. Service was good and there's a snack machine. I thought there was comp. coffee in the morning which was not available. Recommended budget motel in expensive Encinitas.
Had issues with the tv remote and fridge making loud noise all night. I've made a complaint to front desk again in the morning and asked for a discount, he said the management will call me back, of course they never did. They probably figured once it's paid, why bother. Other then it's affordable for a beach stay, the place doesn't seem well maintained.
I have been a Choice Reward Diamond member for over 4 years. My work requires me to travel and I chose to stay at Choice Hotels. I could smell cannabis smoke but never could find out where it’s coming from. I told the front desk and they moved us to another room.
