I have been staying here, during ski season, for 4 years. The room furnishings are VERY dated. But where else do you get HBO,in room coffee service, refer, bath accessories, free WiFi and microwave. This year they put in new towels and sheets. Ed, the proprinter, is trying to slowly upgrade and repair the rooms. He has a way to go but he is trying. This is a basic motel with a good location. I recommend CB Pizza next to motel for a reasonable priced good meal.

This is an older but well located and reasonably well maintained property. For a hundred bucks a night, we got exactly what we were looking for -- a clean, comfortable place to spend the night. The room (#3) had two queen beds (would have preferred one king, but OK), plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, tissue, extra blankets and pillows if we needed them (didn't), lighting, electric blankets for winter guests, work table, and parking right in front of our door. Friendly staff. I didn't check to see if there was wireless service since I didn't need it.

The property is adjacent to Hwy 89, and you can hear every car that drives by during the night, so bring earphones/earplugs (or turn on the fan) if you're a light sleeper, and bring eyeshades if you want to sleep late and the morning light would awaken you (the shades do not darken the room much). You will also hear your neighbors if they are noisy (for example, I heard one neighbor leaving early in the morning).

This is NOT a five-star and maybe not even a three-star hotel, but my high ratings are based on what was delivered vs. expectations for a $100/nt motel in Lake Tahoe (other choices were $160+ and had a 2-night minimum for summer weekends).

The Tahoe North Shore Lodge is not the Four Seasons, and is very basic and dated. But this is the mountains and the place has a certain rustic and totally authentic charm...with perfect service, and perfect views of glorious Lake Tahoe. For the price and location, I can accept the road noise in the rooms, and would stay again.

When visiting the Lake Tahoe beach with my manual wheelchair, I was excited to realize they have a beach wheelchair for use by patrons who wish to access the beach. In addition to the chair, there are easily accessed walkways (wheelchair or no). This chair allowed me to actually go down to the water's edge (not something I could ever do with my usual chair).

Even though it was a chilly day, the view was spectacular! Following the adventure to the water, stopping at the Tahoe North Shore Lodge was a wonderful treat!

Room smell like poop! We opened door, window, finally we found problem. Dog poop in waste basket. Dirty, Dusty, old furniture, kitchen had dishes sitting in sink drainer from previous guest. To the owners credit, they did offer to reduce price of room. Buyer Beware!

Our first sign should have been the ear plugs on the night stand. We had our dog and got the dog room complete with dog fur in the bedding. There's a metal plate on the freeway that sounds like thunder anytime a care drives on it. In the middle of the night a spider was chewing at my skin, I came home with a huge bite, red and inflamed. Our neighbors were up at 5am talking and laughing. The walls are paper thin hence the ear plugs. I laid in bed for 45 minutes and finally turned to my fiance and said we need to leave. Now 6am in the morning and we had hit the road to the nearest coffee shop and then headed out of town. The owners were friendly but my first red flag should of been the ear plugs that you pay for when checking out.

This is not a 4 star hotel. If you don't need a lot of amenities and are just looking for a basic room to stay in for a few days while visiting North Tahoe, then this is a good deal. Our room had a small kitchenette so we were able to cook some meals, keep things in the fridge and not have to go out for every meal. View of the lake, beach across the street, CB'sPizza and Garwoods restaurant a short walk away. Place is clean, and well kept, and some rooms have been updated... the owners/managers are accommodating and striving to improve the hotel, one room at a time.

Holes in the sheets and towels, and the shower area pretty scary. The microwave, mini fridge, and tv worked fine. WiFi was exhausting to get to work. Definitely not worth $160 a night. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful.

After reading the reviews, I was afraid that the lodge would be a nightmare. Nevertheless, our stay was actually not that bad. The bathroom was small, yet the water was hot enough. The wifi wasn't that stable, but for travelers not on a business trip, it was acceptable. The only problem was, the parking lot was a little small; a few minivans would fill up the lot.

This is a little 2 star motel across the street from Garwoods. We reserved a room here because we could drink and have fun at Garwoods, and then just walk across the street to sleep. We knew it was not going to be the Ritz Carlton; however....it fell far below even our lowest expectations!!! The room was gross. The carpet was gross. The beds. GROSS. The shower?? So disgusting!!!! We left at 5pm on our second night because I could not bring myself to get in the shower, and even if I took a shower, there was enough light in the room anywhere where I’d even be able to see enough to put on make up. It was dark, gloomy, depressing and GROSS!!! The bathroom floors are sticky. AND, it was still $150 per night, so for that amount we at least expected it to be clean. The manager couldn’t even be bothered to put on shoes. Save yourself the headache and spend a little extra to stay somewhere nice.
