• What a great guest to host! So easy to communicate with, and left the place clean and tidy. Would recommend to any other host and would welcome back at the property any time.

I really think this was a good place. Provided all the bare necessities and was strategically nice to be in. especially traveling alone or as a couple.
Very clean, enough provisions for 2 or 3 coffees relatively updated staying place. Generally quite area. Strongest criticism. The road can be a bit tricky being a little bit narrow and steep

Our host Jan was really kind and considerate. Our room was neat and well equipped for our needs. The breakfast was to die for and we were treated very well with friendliness and consideration. Even a call to ensure we arrived home safely...obvious to say, we will be sure to visit again.

We had booked online after seeing some rather nice photographs and some good reviews. As they say, "looks can be deceiving" and I guess everyone has very different standards.

We arrived at the address not knowing if we were in the right place as there is no signage outside with the establishments name. It had a rickety gate and looked like a private home, not accommodation.

We were led upstairs to our rooms which were above the actual birdcages. I had no idea there would be birdcages housing so many birds. I can't stand this sort of thing and it made me sad each time I walked to my room to see so many beautiful birds in such small enclosures.

From the balconies outside our rooms - which were set up with mismatched tables and brightly colored plastic chairs - we had a view of a bit of the garden and a sliver of ocean.

The rooms, I have to say were clean but smelled damp and musty and the decor left much to be desired. That is an understatement! The mismatched, threadbare linens looked and felt like they hadn't been replaced since the 1960's - floral print duvet cover and leopard print sheets for me and a blue spotted duvet cover in the other room which looked like it should have been in a child's bedroom with white floral sheets and funny polyester tassels on the corners of the bed which we found rather amusing. The beds were comfortable enough.

The furniture is old and you kind of feel like you're in your grandmothers house. The thick curtains were difficult to pull along the cheap rails and would stick which was a bit frustrating.

Now for the bathroom: quite a dingy shower with a soap holder coated in plastic that was peeling and rusting underneath. I would throw my bar of soap from the shower into the wash hand basin so I didn't have to rest it in the shower holder.

The liquid soap provided on the wash-hand basin was bright pink, had an industrial strength, chemical laden, bought in bulk look to it. I didn't use it. Nice big mirror and spacious granite counter.

A kettle and a couple of tea bags were provided so you can make your own tea. Milk provided in the fridge.

It seemed like people online had raved about the breakfast but we weren't too impressed. It was the usual run of the mill cereals, toast and jam. Eggs upon request. One morning we asked if we could have some fruit and a couple of bananas and apples appeared the next morning.

We had thought that we would be able to get to the beach from the property but you have to leave the property and wind through the neighborhood and over a train track to get there. It's an area with a very strange energy to it and due to the weather, which was rainy and cold the whole time we were there, it was extra gloomy.

There is a nice nursery down the street with a mediocre restaurant. Other than that, nothing within walking distance.

Aesthetically this place is not my cup of tea with its aging furniture and linens. It's a bit run down and needs some freshening up. It really wouldn't be a huge expense to go to Mr. Price and buy some new white linens which would really improve the look of the rooms.

We didn't have too much interaction with the man who runs the place but he seems reasonably nice.

Great place with a view of the sea, would advice you have to have your own car for traveling because the bolt drivers are not professional, I didn't try uber.
The location to the bnb needs an update coz it will take you somewhere different
