Just 400m west from centre of Plakias the Horizon Beach Hotel, set by the sea enjoys splendidly open views across the bay.Right below is a sand and shingle beach, with clear water (BLUE FLAG certified beach), from where you can swim. The sea bed is exclusive and ideal for snorkeling or underwater observations. Detailed Reviews
we would like to thank horizon beac staff for their excellent service. they are very kind and willing to help you.
the price was value for money for a sea view room and I could hear the waves of the sea from my room. The room was very clean. the hotel is in a nice and quiet location. If I visit Plakias again it would be certainly my first option. The mattress was very comfortable as well.

We stayed for three days with our group. The hotel is clean and bright. Breakfast was delicious and we could take the food onto the terrace and eat under the trees. It's a short walk to the area of the town where the restaurants are. There are no pavements in some parts. The road isn't busy but people do drive a bit fast along there in the evenings so take care.

We stayed at the Superior Room Sea View and the view was stunning. The room itself had all the facilities needed for our short stay. The bed mattress was very comfortable and the town was also within walking distance. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel room.

When we arrived and asked for a double room for 2 nights the owner said the only room available was a three bed room with a big balcony, which was, of course, more expensive than a double room. Shortly after we had checked in he received a booking through "booking.com" for our room for the following night. He then informed us that we could not stay two nights in this room, however, he had a double room available, which we could move into immediately (?!) or the following morning after breakfast. We decided to stay in the bigger room for one night and move into the vacant room the following morning. After breakfast when we wanted to change rooms he had rented out this last double room and said he had an apartment available at the same price as the triple room we had stayed in.
The rooms were clean, but the bathroom in the triple room smelled of sewage. The breakfast was not great (very sweet artificial orange "juice", weak coffee, dry bread). The location of the hotel, though, is great, just outside Plakias, with a good view, but the beach in front of the hotel is dirty. When we finally paid our bill the hotel owner first refused to give us a valid receipt (with his tax number on it, which we need since we pay tax in Greece). All in all not a very relaxing stay, and definitely not a hotel we would recommend!

First of all,the location of the hotel is excellent - close to the center, but far enough to be quiet. We have very nice room, with unobstructed sea view; clean and comfortable. Wifi was working quite well. The breakfast was almost same every day, but good choice of food. The owners were very kind and helpful, so we had nothing to complain. Of course, it is best if you have a car on Crete to visit all interesting places. All in all, very relaxing place with excellent value for the money.

Decent hotel, nice hotel atmosphere, nice breakfast, excellent sea view, the only real negative points is that they should clean up the room more carefully and that the hotel staff should be a little bit more friendly. I would definitely stay again in this hotel.

This family-run hotel was a mixed bag. The sea views from all rooms are great with balconies fronting the sea but a bit setback from the road. The beds were good, the decor spartan but in tasteful subdued colors. However, some of the shower corners should have been better cleaned and the breakfasts left much to be desired in terms of variety but then again the price was commensurate to quality. The coffee was not good. The family was friendly as well as helpful, contrary to what other reviewers of this hotel have written - we had absolutely no problems on this point. Just wish that toilet paper could be flushed down the toilet instead of in a bin next to the toilet.

The location is great. It is not more than 5 min walking to the center. The view is amazing and, what is more important, they have excellent breakfast! Stayed there for one month, and experienced NO problem at all. If we come back, we will definitively consider staying there again.
