Our family and friends of ours, attended the Ed Sheeran concert at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg and spent 2 nights at 50 on Shepherd. The location of the property was very convenient for us to get to the concert and back again relatively quickly and easily. The property is well maintained with a large beautiful garden. There is also plenty of safe and secure parking. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast served outside on the veranda with lovely garden views was very good.

Thina and her team were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Ideal location for us. Feels like at home as full use of the vast lounge and porch. Full DSTV sport package available for sport junkies!

For a start was Thina incredibly helpful whenever I had questions. She waited outside to welcome us. Security is brilliant and the place has a homely feeling. Our room was clean and perfectly furnished. The breakfast was super and accordingly to our taste! Thank you😍

Lovely location and a beautiful home away from home. Staff excellent 24hrs if you need them. Secure and comfortable. The lodge assists with area specific questions. Good WiFi. Loved sitting by the fire with flap jacks and tea.

You need to replace your pillows which are terrible. The first week there I had no coffee plunger or milk in my room and ended up going and buying some. At breakfast the second week, I went and got my coffee from my room eventually because the staff were too busy talking amongst themselves in the laundry room. The rooms need sound proofing and the sprinkler system needs to be set to come on earlier as you are woken up late at night when it keeps going off. Twice had no power and no one came to advise what was going on. Sat in the dark for over 20 minutes untel the generator was eventually switched on and the fault repaired. You need to keep guests informed on what is happening and really need to invest in some solar lanterns for your rooms or at the very least, bring candles as soon as power goes out instead of leaving everyone just sitting in the dark.

Comfortable, but small items in the room require attention, eg toilet roll holder fell off, the shelf in the shower broken etc. Nothing major, just minor maintenance. Friendly staff, thank you for the late check-in!

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The whole building is decorated extremely nicely and there is a lovely garden in which we ate a very nice breakfast. They also have two very friendly dogs who say hello if you want them too. The manageress was very welcoming and also helped us with finding somewhere for lunch too.
