I was so disappointed. I was going to treat my husband to an exceptional night away from home, and it was a disaster. The room I chose on the website is no longer A true reflection of the real picture. This establishment is still charging the prices of a five star hotel, but unfortunately the rooms we occupied were far from five star. The room was icy. In need of maintenance. The old Aircon could not keep the room warm. On asking for a spare heater they brought oil heater that was rusted and made little difference to the temperature. The bathroom mat was threadbare, the basin was chipped. The advert spoke of a coal stove, which was missing from the room. We had lunch at the establishment as well. Lunch consisted of a tomato soup which had very little taste of tomato, fillet steak which was very tasty with mashed potatoes and a couple of veggies, the second choice was pork belly which was exceptionally fatty, and dessert was apple pie and chocolate mousse. The apple pie was no better than what you would get at any Spar. For this set menu meal they charge an astronomical fee which does not warrant the food we ate. They are still charging five star rates that what they are offering is nowhere near. All in all, a very disappointing experience. We declined breakfast the next morning as the room it would’ve been served in, where we had a lunch the previous day, was really cold. WORST NIGHTMARE STILL ONGOING 2 YEARS NOW!!! I chose morrells in Jan 2019 for my wedding, biggest mistake ever! Have had to get lawyers involved since Dec 2020, Ulrich Roux & Associates, if you read this and need help, go to Ulrich! I actually cannot put in summary everything that has happened as this would be even longer. Honestly, I cannot relay every point where Morrells has dropped the ball, is that many times!! from the start I and 1 bad experience after the next, and the whole time, Bernice would not take my calls or call me back or my wedding planner, for 2 years I tried!!! I had something like 10 wedding planners over the first 8 months, and all my info kept getting lost, so my drinks or food chosen never got passed to the next planner, arrived for a tasting 18 months later, only hot told then that I couldn't have the food I chose. Now they trying to charge me for a food tasting that was part of the deal and booked 8 months in advanced. Which they were late for and apparently didn't have our booking! then had another planner tell me she is a better person than me!! After I waited 8 weeks just asking for an image of the welcome board and still not got it, basics like this could not be done in a timely manner. after I arrived in SA for my wedding, tested positive, so devastated, had to call off my wedding and when I emailed Bernice, I got told I had to pay higher costs now for food, drinks and flowers. My external wedding planner that I had hired to help with Morrells total lack of organising a 65 people wedding, told Bernice that all other venues he was working with was honouring paod weddings and items paid for. not Morrells, no, they want us to pay +-R53000more now despite us having PAID AND BOOKING EVERY SINGLE ROOM IN THE VENUE to begin with!! …
Beautiful venue, brilliant and friendly staff, excellent food, most romantic venue. We will return! Thank you Bernice, Sarah, CJ and staff. You made our wedding most memorable🌿🥂. The guest enjoyed it as well.
Overall experience fell short of expectation. Event co-ordination was disappointing. No return calls received and no confirmation of details. Will not recommend to anyone. A pity because this was a big celebration that was meant to be memorable.
Beautiful rooms, venue, stunning garden. Will highly recommend Morels Boutique Estate to all my friends and family so that they can also arrange an over night stay. Will definitely arrange for us do come and visit you soon.
Staying at Morells Guest Estate was an absolute joy. The beautiful old rooms and a lush garden makes for a truly country-side experience in the vast Johannesburg city-scape. The service also was quite exquisite with very friendly staff catering after your every need with a smile. A special thanks to the manager Laura and night butler CJ for the great service and wonderful stay. I will definitely return to Morells when in Johannesburg again.
I have used this facility many times in the past for small conferences (+- 7-8 people) as well as other facilities. I can truly recommend this venue as it is head and shoulders above the rest. The facilities are excellent and the staff always on standby to assist with any request.
The rooms are amazing and the staff so friendly, it all looked so detailed and perfect ! Also, they didn’t disturb a lot asking for tips (all of them in África do) the rooms were super cleaned and I recommend it
I hosted my sister's baby shower at the Morrells Manor House. Firstly the events manager, Sarah was amazing throughout the time leading up to the event. The venue is absolutely stunning, the pictures do not do it enough justice. It is very clean and green. On the day of the event, the hotel was on time with everything. The decoration was beautiful. The service throughout the day was great, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our overall experience was truly amazing.
The service was excellent, the food was great and the venue has breath taking views!! the location is nice and central and easily accessible from most major highways, and via google maps. Thank you guys!!
