This is the second time we have stayed at House Higgo and find the establishment is very well located to main roads as well as shopping centres and restaurants. The rooms are very spacious, all conveniences such as a tea/coffee station, tv, hairdryers etc. are allowed for. The en suite bathroom is very large (however in our particular room, St. Ives) the bathroom needs a little work and the shower door entrance is small and awkward for a larger person. Otherwise still a lovely room.
The breakfast choices are one of the best and most varied I have seen at any establishment and cooked fresh per order. The staff are excellent and very organised and friendly.
We will definitely stay at again at House Higgo

I recently booked out House Higgo for a group of international golfers and found every detail to be exceptional. House Higgo was Covid secure and no detail was spared in ensuring my clients all felt safe. House Higgo has a wonderful 'home from home' feel to it and the location was in easy reach of some of Johannesburg's best golf courses including Joburg Open venue Randpark which is only 2 mins away. I'd fully recommend for anyone looking for a first class experience in a boutique setting.

This place looked great online and was in a higher price bracket than most in the area, but we thought we'd spoil ourselves. It really is a nice building with interesting mix of antique and more modern decor items. We were in the St Ives (Honeymoon Suite) room and it did have a luxury feel. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with the sign on the bath wall (see pic). Often we take the opportunity to use the bath when we go away but apparently there is a water shortage (we live locally and know its rained a lot this summer so... yeah not really) and so the plug had been removed. Fair enough if there is a water shortage but why then have pictures of the baths in the rooms all over booking.com?

The breakfast was nice but again we weren't too impressed that not only did we have to help ourselves to coffee (not the end of the world but little things like this make a big difference), but the coffee was just instant sachets and hot water. For a 'posh' boutique hotel this was really surprising. When I asked if we could have fruit with our cooked breakfast we were told by their lovely staff member Martha (she was lovely and helpful) that it would be an additional cost. Again I feel its little things like this that make you not want to go back somewhere. In addition the no hot water in the bathroom sink, the gate intercom that didn't work, and the small scratchy towels just didn't help.

I'm not one for complaining so these points are really just feedback for you to consider to make others stays more enjoyable and bring the standard up to the standard of a boutique property.

The cottage Accomodation was disappointing. The pictures on the website and the 4 star rating which I based my reservation on did not match. We checked in very late and expected to be shown to our room immediately but had to wait because the room wasn’t ready, no towels and pillow cases, pillows were filthy, no plugs provided to charge cellphones, just one plug behind the entertainment unit. Furniture was filthy, checked out a day early. The rest of the establishments that we were exposed to looked good which was made us feel even more disappointment, didn’t seem like they have given the cottage the same attention as the rest of the establishment. Martha was wonderful, she tried to help as much as she possibly could, especially given that it was her day off and the person who was supposed to prepare our room and receive had gone home early.

From the start of our booking, we were looked after. Even breakfast was asked and they helped me with my allergies in a split second. We were welcomed and treated amazing. The property is something to view all on it's own. Esthetically pleasing and calming. Breakfast was so delicious and scenic. Our bed was the best by far! Even my bed didn't feel the same after. The staff even made it so easy to order take away food and made us a fire to go and sit by. Wifi was great and never had issues. Thank you Cindy and staff

Would definitely visit again, staff were pleasant, reservation was easy, good breakfast, peace and quiet.
We pre-selected what we would like to have for breakfast and the time we would want to have it. We stayed in the executive suite which was more spacious and had a beautiful bathroom with a large tub which was nice.

Pristine gardens and top notch privacy and security . I can highly recommend the elegant Higgo House to traveler’s wanting a luxurious stay. Rooms are well designed and plush with everything you need and more. The hostess - Martha was attentive to our requirements and communication with the establishment was excellent. What an amazing place. I would definitely recommend this place and visit again. Jus a let down that the pool was green and the jaccuzzi did not work. Room was absolutely amazing, luxury and clean. We had sparking wine that just made the evening.

How does this compare to The Fairway Hotel?
Pretoria, South Africa246 contributions3 helpful votes
Good Day, Thank you for your question. Fairway hotel is a large hotel which comprises of 76 rooms and is apart of a hotel chain. House Higgo is a small, intimate guest house with only 7 rooms and is not part of a large hotel group. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, House Higgo

Airport transfers are not free and not included when booking accommodation. If you do require airport transportation the duty manager of the facility can arrange this for you provided you furnish your travel details i.e. where and when to be collected (specify whether international or domestic terminal and expected time of arrival). The costs for airport transfer can either be added to your bill for accommodation i.e. you can arrange with the establishment to settle with them when you check in or settle directly with the airport transfer service provider. Please remember however to check with the establishment what their approach is on this before you travel to ensure that you are all on the same page.

What size beds?
Answer from eheyns
Cape Town, South Africa19 contributions2 helpful votes
The size of the beds range from double to queen size. One of the bedrooms may have king size (think the honeymoon suite) however your would need to double-check @ king size bed availability directly with the establishment.
