Gucina Guesthouse Home Stay is small nice guest house, centrally located across the Johannesburg in a quiet alley. My room was nicely decorated and spotless clean. Danuta running the place is extremely friendly and make you feel most welcomed. I definitely recommended it. The garden with palms & swimming pool is like a small ocean island in urban area.
Excellent accommodationwith such warm hospitality. Great relaxed rooms & atmosphere. A dream holiday, a real home away from home. We would recommend Gucina house for business or holiday accommodation. We loved the location , if you are looking for a place that is elegant, guiet and safe for family, that's the place to go. close to Sandton and other business districts
For a relaxing atmosphere and a home away from home this is the place to stay. In the suburbs of Randburg with a beautiful setting and all your amenities nearby. You couldn't ask for a more welcoming or delightful host, Danuta (also the owner). Highly recommended to business, get-away or overseas travelers.
We had an amazing time at Guesthouse Gucina. The location was ideally situated to all major amneties in Johannesburg. From the prestine Randpark Golf Course, to rock climbing at City Rock, as well as the all the major luxurious shopping centres in Northern upper class Johannesburg. The bush is only a 20 minute drive away and Sandton City - the business hub of Africa is only 11 km away! The guesthouse has a garden from paradise - green grass surrounded by an oasis of palm trees, beautiful African Plants, with a stunning blue swimming pool in the centre of the garden, as well as a beautiful genuine zulu grass lapa with a braai area, garden swing, jacuzzi, sauna & bar. We felt like we were in the garden of Eden - peace, singing birds, tranquility, sunshine & luxury! The apartments were uniquely African with lots of attention to detail, sunny, romantic juliet balconies, beds with luxurious velon nettings to add to the African safari feel. The owner prepared us a delicious Continental breakfast & catered to all our special requests. Clean, full on security & covered parking. A true home away from home! Thank-you Guest house Gucina for your love & hospitality! We will definately becoming back soon!…
Gucina is a friendly place where one easily feels at home.It is not luxurious and the décor is not quite what is trendy these days but the welcome is fantastic and the rooms comfortable and the garden is an oasis of green and peace. It worked very well for us , we were meeting friends with children and were able to stay in separate apartments while sharing a terrace where we could have meals together. The breakfasts were delicious and generous as well. Thank you to Danuta and Meggie for welcoming us so generously.
Do Not Stay Here. This house was absolutely filthy with dog feces and dirt everywhere. The house smells and is not a true guesthouse. We were staying in this woman's home who reneged on almost everything we had discuss prior to our arrival.
Having travelled many placed around Southern Africa, we can confidently say that Guesthouse Gucina is one of our favourites. It is situated in a quiet, green suburb that is conveniently close to all major business locations & shopping centers. The bush and lion park is only 1/2 hr drive and close to both airports. The owner was absolutely superb, helping us beyond all our needs, doing her best to make you feel at relaxed and at home. The accommodation is very friendly, comfortable, private & the rooms were simply stunning, clean and large enough to feel yourself, perfect for even for a long stay. We would like to mention that every detail and every corner of the interiors and exteriors is built with love and perfection to a unique African lodge & Italian theme. The garden is absolutely beautiful. It looks like a tropical oasis laced with palm tress and a large relaxing pool & thatched braaing area. It feels like you're on holiday, even when you are staying for business. Recommended to everyone, we had an amazing & welcoming experience! Thank-you Guesthouse Gucina!!!!…
Spent a few nights at Gucina with a group of friends. Good value for our money. The apartments are nice and well furnished. There's a cool Braai (barbecue) area and a decent sized salt water pool. The owner of the place was friendly and helpful. A faster internet connection and better wifi reception would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
What a beautiful lovely home. When we arrived, we welcomed by the owner, a lovely mother figure who offered assistance from the time of arrival. She has been like a mother through the weeks stay & no money can measure to the treatment received at the guest house. It has been a memorable stay & would recommend anyone to try this guesthouse out. The place is clean, well secure, rooms are huge, cleaned on a daily basis, offering 5star treatment from the service to the home environment provided. What makes it more unique is the genuine love the owner has for the business and all people who come across this lovely home. Try it. You cant go wrong.
We travelled for business from Puerto Rico to South Africa and chose Guesthouse Gucina because it appeared to be everything we required for our stay. The apartment was fully equipped, although in a state of disrepair. Service was non existent, and we had to go to extreme lengths to see anybody with some authority. The ill-fitted shower door shattered at our first attempt to use the shower. When we complained about the internet service (wi-fi) we were told that "this is Africa" and we should deal with the poor service. Worst of all: the rough indoor woodwork had been treated with creosote, and when we complained about the dangers of this in an indoors environment, we were told to leave the doors and windows open. Unfortunately we paid for the accommodation up front and could not cancel the booking, without loosing the R10 200.00 we paid for 11 days. We checked out 2 days earlier than the original booked date, and were told that no refund would be given, due to us "breaking the shower door". I could write a book about our stay in this creosote hell hole, but will conclude by saying that this is not the kind of place I would recommend to my worst enemy.…
