Had a great time at olive tree farm. Has the all the bases covered for a quiet time away from the city and within an hour's drive of Pretoria. Lovely hiking trail or you can just curl up with a good book and if u wanna kewl down, there's a pool too. It's self catering and if you need to stock up, Magaliesburg is just a ten minute drive away.
My wife and I opted to celebrate her fiftieth birthday here after reading the reviews. We arrived to a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice, together with complimentary charcoal and firelighters, and fresh milk in the fridge! Even the welcome note on the bed was surrounded by a lavender sprig! The huge room included a bath and the kitchenette, and the toilet was in a room off to one side. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower and endless supply of hot water through a gas geyser! We chose to have our breakfast at 10, thinking it would be brunch, but woke a little surprised at 9:30 - we slept so well. Sharply at 10am the knock on the door introduced us to our continental breakfast comprising a refreshing combination of fresh orange juice, fruit salad, croissants, rolls, greek yoghurt, emmentaler cheese and a cold meats platter. Later we went on a 5km walk and also found numerous hand tools along the way, and saw zebra, eland and impala. (Unfortunately the giraffe eluded us this trip!) We chose to go for supper at the BrauHaus which was a bit disappointing, but our second night in the huge bed was equally relaxing, and we left after two days, rested and revived. On our way back we visited the ice-cream factory about 2km away, and had breakfast at the Black Horse Brewery which was delicious!…
Really cool views on the game drive and watched the full moon rise from a viewpoint. We saw eland, sable, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and guinea fowl! It was nice to see the natural olive tree grove. Great place for kids to get out and play. We really enjoyed being out and it’s a really quick and easy drive back to Johannesburg.
