Ash is the most wonderful host who goes well beyond expectation to help her guests. We booked here as we wanted to do some hiking and we loved trekking round the conservancy which backs on to the farm. We saw blesbok, sable, golden hartebeest, giraffe.... The views from the stoop were stunning - perfect for enjoying a sundowner. Breakfast was delicious and Ash made excellent recommendations on what to do / where to go in the locality. We'll definitely be back.

What an amazing experience. Ash is an attentive host and nothing is too much trouble. The cabins are large and well equipped, including a braai. The farm also has access to a private game reserve with non dangerous animals so walking is encouraged. We saw several antelopes and giraffe on a three hour walk, and there are several marked routes and game walks to choose from. The pool area is refreshing on return. We will be back staying for more nights next time.

Had a great time at olive tree farm. Has the all the bases covered for a quiet time away from the city and within an hour's drive of Pretoria. Lovely hiking trail or you can just curl up with a good book and if u wanna kewl down, there's a pool too. It's self catering and if you need to stock up, Magaliesburg is just a ten minute drive away.

My wife and I opted to celebrate her fiftieth birthday here after reading the reviews. We arrived to a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice, together with complimentary charcoal and firelighters, and fresh milk in the fridge! Even the welcome note on the bed was surrounded by a lavender sprig! The huge room included a bath and the kitchenette, and the toilet was in a room off to one side. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower and endless supply of hot water through a gas geyser! We chose to have our breakfast at 10, thinking it would be brunch, but woke a little surprised at 9:30 - we slept so well. Sharply at 10am the knock on the door introduced us to our continental breakfast comprising a refreshing combination of fresh orange juice, fruit salad, croissants, rolls, greek yoghurt, emmentaler cheese and a cold meats platter. Later we went on a 5km walk and also found numerous hand tools along the way, and saw zebra, eland and impala. (Unfortunately the giraffe eluded us this trip!) We chose to go for supper at the BrauHaus which was a bit disappointing, but our second night in the huge bed was equally relaxing, and we left after two days, rested and revived. On our way back we visited the ice-cream factory about 2km away, and had breakfast at the Black Horse Brewery which was delicious!

Really cool views on the game drive and watched the full moon rise from a viewpoint. We saw eland, sable, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and guinea fowl! It was nice to see the natural olive tree grove. Great place for kids to get out and play. We really enjoyed being out and it’s a really quick and easy drive back to Johannesburg.

We stayed at the Olive Tree Farm for our anniversary and had a fantastic weekend getaway. We had peace and quiet, a huge chalet all to ourselves, and a beautiful setting. Plus, they personalized our room for our anniversary. In the morning we took a lovely hike into the hills behind the farm where we saw giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and impala. The hiking was spectacular to explore and it was a quiet area where we felt safe and secluded. As great as all of this was, it was not the highlight of the trip. The highlight was that when we went hiking, there were many opportunities to find real authentic hominid stone tools in the hills behind the farm. You have to spend some time looking and they are not always easy to find, especially if you stay on the beaten path. But they are there to find. We found quite a few ideal examples of stone tools—see examples in the photos! So if you’re a real paleoanthropologist or just interested in amateur archaeology, this place is a must see and one of a kind. You need to come visit the Olive Tree Farm!

Came back again, this time we were more of us. Still love the place and it does it. I was in a different, 2 roomed unit, slightly cramped I must say and it also has a very annoying sliding "door" for the main room opening into the living room which affords zero privacy - they need to change that! The place has changed hands recently, and the new owners are friendly, hands on and responsive. The place is still unspoiled and even has a generator to boot - life in mzansi today you know! I really do hope they retain the standards in the long run. Overall would recommend it.

I have previously opted to spend my new years in near city locations and I am so glad to have made a different choice this year. My stay was awesome, the rooms were super clean, they provided everything I needed to be comfortable. I would recommend this for any one needing to rekindle love or hang with family.
