Tucked away in a slumbering woodland valley between a tranquil stream and the foothills of the ancient Magaliesberg Mountains. Just one hour's drive from Johannesburg, you'll find Saamrus - pet-friendly, self-catering, comfortable and charming farm cottages surrounded by 500 hectares of unspoiled nature, bird life and walking freedom. Saamrus offers 9 private self catering cottages. Some cottages are situated on a steep hill with stunning views while some cottages are at the foot of the hill with lots of indigenous trees around, abundant bird life and close to the river walks.

We spend Christmas at Saamrus and had a really relaxing and peaceful time. The accommodation are very well equipped, neat, clean and comfortable. (The bathroom and shower curtains in the Rondavel might need an upgrade though and I would suggest that the thatch in the bathroom gets dusted a little bit more often......just a suggestion to improve). We (and the rest of the family who stayed at the Farmhouse and in Hoep Hoep) enjoyed every moment. We thoroughly enjoyed the walking trails which are well maintained and beautiful! Our fur kids enjoyed every moment! We will definitely visit you again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm!

It was a wonderful place to get away from normal life, nice and peaceful. Lovely cottage. People friendly. It was out first time away with our new furry family member. He loved it. We will be coming again soon.

Oh wow, we got so much more than expected. Our dogs also had a ball of a time. The surroundings are beautiful and quiet - it was so relaxing! It's nice and private where you stay, so you can truly just kick back.

We contacted (mobile no) the standby staff 8 times over a period of 2 hours on 27Dec to order wood. Calls just never got answered. I even left voicemail messages. I eventually drove to town to buy some wood for the day. I also contacted the owner and only got a reply back 4hours later that evening on what to do. Next day 28Dec I contacted the standby staff mobile number again - NO answer. I then contacted the supervisor, call was answered and wood was delivered to our unit only about 90min later. Wood not good quality and wet. Causes a lot of smoke. With such a hefty tariff over a peak period one would expect better service. We did enjoy our stay and hope the service will improve. We might be back then. Just sad about the bad service.
