We loved our quick family weekend away at Thabametsi. We stayed in the Squirrel's Nest which is a lovely, very spacious and super clean house. Being fairly secluded away from the rest of the farm also gave us privacy for much needed rest. Since we were there in winter with very cold nights, we appreciated having a fireplace, gas heaters in every room and electric blankets on every bed!
The kids totally loved the activities on offer and seeing and interacting with the animals.
The staff there is also very friendly and always willing to help
Thabametsi is such great value for money and would highly recommend it for families

We just love Thabametsi. Its peaceful and the location is ideal - only an hour outside of Joburg but no planes and traffic so was very quiet! Although all accommodation was booked it never felt full or noisy. Everyone staying there commits to the vibe of being quiet and having good clean family fun. My young boys (3 and 6) loved the freedom of exploring the different playgrounds by themselves and trailing Elijah around. he is a wonder, a real modern day Mary Poppins! Kind, gentle and patient with the kids throughout the donkey cart rides, chicken feeding, tractor rides etc. He deserves a medal. We ordered delicious farm bread and scones which were expertly baked by Judy! She also arranged a surprise Easter egg hunt! and brought her bunny out for the kids to touch. We took drinks up to the Mountain View trail, a 10 minute walk to access a gorgeous view of the sunset! Thank you to Judy, Christy and all staff at Thabametsi. We can't wait to come back. We stayed in Squirrels Nest which we loved.

The service received from the team was professional and amazing. Everything was explained clearly during the booking process, on the day of check-in and during our stay. I must mention that Christy, Julie and team were always there to assist where we needed assistance.
The house that we were staying was neatly prepared and very clean, we literally felt at home. The kids enjoyed the activities provided at the farm, us adults enjoyed the serene and calm environment. We are currently planning our next visit at the farm, we can't wait to go back and stay at the farm for a longer period.

My family and I had an excellent stay at the farm and the kids loved every moment! Feeding the animals, tractor rides, pony rides and all the jungle gyms that are scattered around. We also loved our accommodation - everything you needed and a quick car journey from Sandton. Will be returning.

Lovely accommodating people with a genuine concern for our enjoyment. Judy even arranged a cow milking experience at the farm next door for our 7 year old. Our daughters dream come true with the tame horses coming right up to our bungalow to say hello, and she loved the lead horse ride. Peaceful quiet and tranquil, we will be going back again. Thanx Judy, Christy and Happy.

Beautiful farm in the Magaliesberg with lots to do for humans and pets alike.… or you could just relax and appreciate the tranquility of the bush, intermingled with the sounds of the resident farm animals. Judy and Christy and the team are excellent hosts, thanks!

Nice getaway for family and friends, Judy & Christie very friendly and make you feel right at home. Delicious breakfast prepared by Christie, such a caring lady. Our son enjoyed the Tractor ride, feeding the chickens & running around on the farm. Beautiful nature view and relaxing time away from the busy city.

Thabametsi is a great getaway from the city. Beautifully situated, surrounded by the Magalies mountains. It's great for kids with lots of space for bike riding and long walks. The farm animals provide fun when it comes to feeding time. Nice added touches like a tractor ride.

We loved bringing our dogs who also had the best time running everywhere.

The accommodation is basic but comfortable.

We will definitely be back.

Thabametsi is a real "plaas" (farm) escape that takes you back to basics with the joy of farm life. Two free roaming cows and a sheep set the mood, made only better by the stoep-sit joys of watching the sun set. Great facilities, friendly people, and most pleasant stay! (The bedding in particular was great – the softest pillows and linen)

Do you allow german shepherds? I have 2 and would like to book some time away in May
Magaliesburg, South Africa14 contributions
Hello Freda, thank you for your enquiry. If your fur family is socialised and can handle horses and other dogs and farm animals their stay won't be a problem. Find us on the net. Friendly regards Thabametsi farm

Thank you for your enquiry. Yes we do but unfortunately only booked directly and not through a travel agency. It also depends on the total of guests at the farm at the given time as to not have it overcrowded. You are most welcome to find us on the web. Regards thabametsifarm
