Definitely a place to de-stress and relax. The beautiful thought out units are well spaced from each other and even the little things are perfectly in place, like mosquito spray, torches, umbrellas etc. Fully recommend this place for couples.

We booked a little overnight stay for Valentine's.
The staff at Whispering Pines were fantastic, really friendly and attentive during our stay.
The food was amazing as well, we really enjoyed the valentines dinner put together. Even the breakfast was really good, they offered a continental breakfast buffet that was manned by one of their staff, and then a cooked breakfast option.
Our executive cabin was really cozy, cute and neat, and it was nice that we felt very secluded.
It had all the facilities we could've needed, TV with DSTV, aircon, fireplace, and a mini fridge. The bathrooms were ideally equipped with a shower and bath, as well as an outdoor shower (See below).
We also had hot stone massages that we really enjoyed, the masseuses were brilliant and we left there feeling very relaxed.
However there were just a few smaller issues that gave it a 4/5.
The safe in the room didn't work, I think the battery was dead. We were only staying for one night so it wasn't a big deal for us though.
The outdoor shower wasn't cleaned. There were a lot of leaves and mulch so it wasn't very inviting. Feel like that should have been cleaned on the day of our arrival.
The shower door was a bit sticky and didn't close easily and even the front door had a big gap at the top that I'm sure let's a lot of cold air in during winter, so these just need a bit of maintenance.
When we arrived, the pool area was very noisy and rowdy with day visitors. Might be worthwhile to encourage day visitors to keep the noise levels down for guests staying over as it was quite off putting having a party around the pool, also we could hear their loud music and shouting while trying to have a relaxing massage.
It's just small things like that resulted in a drop of ratings, otherwise everything else was really great and we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Magical, peaceful, excellent service from Justin and Jeremy, spotlessly clean, fresh, delicious breakfast.I enjoyed the salmon and cream-cheese with toast,my husband enjoyed the fresh fruit and egg dishes. There are short hikes, the paths are well maintained and well-signposted.In terms of the dinner menu,I would suggest two simple dishes under R150,such as hamburger and chips and a simple chicken dish with vegetables and rice. I will definitely be returning to this magical gem in Magaliesberg.

We booked a 70th birthday party at Whispering Pines for my mom.

I contacted the venue in Oct last year, and started the process of discussing what we need. A small intimate but beautiful birthday dinner for 10-15 people to be hosted in their conference room next to the pool. I had been for a weekend stay before and knew how gorgeous the garden setting was.

Gail answered my email and she was super accommodating with my requests. I had some ideas on photo's of colour scheme and design, and she assisted me in getting the exact look that I wanted for my mom's birthday. Flowers, decor, table setting, photo flower wall, music. Everything interaction with her was a breeze, esp as I am in a different country and different time zone.

I also booked rooms for my family to stay over and she was very professional in getting the rooms sorted and allowed me to confirm numbers closer to the time. Some family were supposed to come from Zambia too.

Gail kept following up with me and checking my preferences and I was delighted when I arrived on the Saturday afternoon to see the flowers and decor already setup in the room. Just gorgeous and my mom and family were amazed.

We were treated so well by Israel and the staff the whole evening, waiting on us and assisting us in all our needs. We were able to choose our own menu selection and the food was really top class.

The setting of the well kept garden and the large trees is so tranquil and inviting, one cannot help but relax. My whole family loved the weekend and said they will definitely return for a stay.

It's great that the trip from Jhb is not more than an hour and the roads were easy to navigate even in the rain.

We had such a brilliant time and it was very special for us all to be together for the first time in a long time.

I would highly recommend the estate for a stay over or even an event - the spa is there to relax further and the pool and gardens are just lush.

We loved our long weekend stay. The food was very well prepared to a high standard. The overall service was personal and everyone went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. The fireplaces in the rooms was cosy and the water for baths and showers was beautifully hot. The short walking paths are well maintained and signposted. We came home feeling very relaxed.

Amazing retreat away from the busy city life. The easy walking trails are beautiful and well maintained. They also cater for dietary requirements (Gluten-free vegan) if informed. The attention to detail is refreshing with everything going along seamlessly. Jeremy is hands on and can be seen chatting to guests while ensuring that everything is on point.

The spa treatments were relaxing and highly recommended. Other activities include the games room and reading room

Highly recommend the Deluxe cabins. Spacious and well maintained. The firewood is restocked daily.

My husband and I booked a weekend away at Whispering Pines from 7th - 9th October. Our weekend was worth every cent spent. We arrived on a Friday afternoon to a warm reception by the guard at the entrance to the property. Every employee at the resort gave us a warm welcome and interacted with us like we were long lost family. My husband couldn't believe how a place that's only about an hour outside of bustling Johannesburg could be so peaceful.

We had booked the Deluxe Cabin and it was exactly as I remembered it when I first visited the lodge more than 15 years ago. Meals were delightful, topped by a breakfast menu that was very generous. One was really spoilt for choice. Meals were delicious. The grounds and facilities are well-maintained. My only criticism would be for the curtains in the cabin to be properly hung. This will add to the rustic ambience of the cabin. I also wish for an introduction of a 'less formal menu' for guests who wish for something light for dinner. The lodge offers 'room service' for guests wishing to take their meals in their cabins.

The lodge has a strict no noise policy and Jeremy, the manager was prompt to attend to an 'intrusive' group as soon as the matter was brought to his attention.

It was a truly great weekend albeit a short one. We will definitely return (hopefully not more than 15 years later. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

We recently celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at Whispering Pines. As a result our room and dining room table was adorned with Rose Petals and a bottle of Champagne on ice was awaiting our arrival. The staff were fantastic, friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much. The resort is fantastically quiet, remote and has some super walks which we enjoyed. The catering was mouth watering and we will definitely be back. Thank you Jeremy, Israel and the team for a super stay.

A great getaway from city life, beautiful place tucked away in some woods. The staff was friendly and the service was great, loved the food. The only reason am not giving it a 5 is that we had booked a spa treatment but we almost missed it cause when the day came we thought we would be contacted as to where to go when the time came so we made it late to our treatment and only got half the time that we paid for. Maybe in future just communicate with your clients you know as a reminder on the time and where they supposed to go. As first timers we didn't know where the spa was.
Our complaint was well received in this regard.
We would definetly go back. 😀😀😀

We had a company conference at Whispering Pines and it was a really lovely venue.
The service from Justin, Israel and the rest of the team was incredible.

The rooms are lovely, Room 13 is a beautiful 2 bedroom unit with a fireplace in 1 of the rooms and air-con/heater unit in both.
There are tea and coffee making facilities and rusks and biscuits in the room.

The food is a really high standard and absolutely delicious, the breakfast spread was great as well - I cannot fault the menu.

The venue gardens are tranquil and beautiful for photos, as well as fun team building activities such as a short hike to watch the sunset, or fun group activities such as scavenger hunts.

I would highly recommend this venue for a romantic getaway, a wedding, or even a company function.
