Our team had an exceptional experience at Budmarsh Country Lodge! Nestled in the serene Magaliesburg, this charming retreat provided the perfect backdrop for our strategy session. The tranquil surroundings, elegant conference facilities, and attentive staff made our stay truly memorable. We bonded during teambuilding activities, explored the lush gardens, and enjoyed delicious meals. Budmarsh strikes the ideal balance between work and relaxation, ensuring a successful and rejuvenating offsite. The rooms are specious, staff are friendly and very helpful, and the food was delicious - especially the breakfast. The chef and kitchen staff created delectable dishes and were ready and capable of accommodating all our team’s dietary requirements and preferences. Highly recommended!

Amazing weekend spent at Budmarsh Country Lodge in Magaliesberg, an hour from Johannesburg. With level 4 lockdown in South Africa, restaurants and hotels can only do takeaways and in-room dining. This lodge responded promptly by offering a picnic, bed and breakfast promo for a limited time and is a real special treat. Our suite had an added private dining table, restaurant style, where you have your meals. The picnic was really lovely overlooking the picturesque dam. The suite is comfortable with a lovely fireplace in the room and a large jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. The stars come out to play at night and is an amazing sky show. Peace and serenity is felt amongst the large trees, the beautiful dam and the fresh crisp country air. The abundant food is great all round with the talented chefs creating beautiful dining options. From the picnic box, the carrot cake, mini burgers, mini pies and vetkoek is a must. Breakfast was yum with freshly baked croissants and muffins. Great service from Thabo and Wongani, Inge at reception and the hands-on GM, Mr. Peacock. The innovative “restaurant in your room” concept was a novel idea, which we loved. A pleasant stay feeling like we’ve been away for a week.
PS. They normally do picnics on the lawn on weekends. Bookings are required

We decided to breakaway for new years at the 11th hour. Budmarsh was peaceful, tranquil and as bonus we were the only couple on the 31st Dec. The room was as expected spacious, good linen and clean. We asked for a room with a larger jet bath and was upgraded to a room with an outside Jacuzzi at no additional charge. The gardens were green and well kept, the facilities clean and the staff friendly and accommodating.

My husband and I went for a night’s stay to get out of Johannesburg, needless to say we should have stayed at home. Their 5 star rating needs serious review. Upon arrival they could not locate our booking via booking.com and this took a good 30mins to find. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was 2/5, we stayed in room number 4. The furnishings dismal and very sheer curtains so dont expect a sleep in, you’ll have all the light streaming in. Linen and towels were clean and fluffy. The tap water is gritty and BROWN, do not brush your teeth with it. The evening dinner at the restaurant was a joke. The menu was fancier than the food plated. Thankfully they did not charge us for the meal as my husbands kingklip undercooked and lettuce was wilted
We checked out early and hightailed it back home

Dear Mrs Marengo, Thank you for your feedback. Upon your arrival, your booking made via booking.com had not reflected on our system yet. We are looking into this matter to resolve any possible glitches with online bookings. Our water source is natural and due to the heavy rains we did have a water clarity challenge this weekend. We have had an expert come out and assess this for a solution. Thank you for your positive feedback on our cleanliness and service. Regards, Bianca van den Bergh General Manager

Budmarsh has been a favorite for many years however this last trip in August 2023 was a let down. They are still mentioning themselves as 5 star but are not even rated on the tourism grading council website. This is an actually illegal. The staff has been there for years which is good but even they are struggling to keep up with the deterioration of the place. No security guard at the gate, no porters on arrival, no welcome drinks at reception. Missing soap in the room. The list goes on. We told the GM Anica and she tried to convince us they are working on it but those glory days are gone. The wine cellar which was a winner for years is a shadow of its former glory with cheap wines being sold at a premium. Their food was very average serving food that you can get for R200 but charging R900. This was definitely our last trip, what a let down as we have supported Budmarsh for almost 10 years.

The Lodge is in a lovely setting, with friendly staff and an excellent 4 course dinner is served in the evenings.
However the rooms are rather bare and spartan in their furnishings. The bed was comfy but there were no armchairs or dressing table … there is a hairdryer but have to stand at the wall without a mirror to use it!
Other guests were playing their own music on a speaker on the lawns throughout the afternoon and outside our room in the garden until 10 at night!
And when the wind gets up the noises in the roof in Room 3 sound like you’re sleeping on a busy airport flight path.
The WiFi was too weak to use in the room.
The paths and steps below the lodge lawn have not been maintained so you can’t easily explore and bird walk as advertised.
It’s a potentially lovely lodge but in its current rather minimalist state it is certainly not 5 star.

Budmarsh is the type of place you go to, to literally unwind and do nothing. It's so peaceful and relaxing that you can't help but do this. With the help of the efficiency and friendliness of the wonderful staff to the most mouthwatering meals, you will feel relaxed within a very short time. Highly recommended. Wonderful surroundings and beautiful rooms top it all off.

My Husband Andy & I were welcomed and treated to an unforgettable stay at Budmarsh.
After hearing of a previous bad experience we had encountered for our anniversary a few years ago in Parys, Glynn blessed us with room number 12 which is a super clean, fully equipped room with all requirements and the highlight for us was the jacuzzi 💕
We were welcomed by the Manager Inga and then handed over to our concierge Felix for the weekend, who took fantastic care of us from morning to evening, leaving no stone unturned.
If Felix was busy, we were assisted by Thabo (Mr T) and Wongani with every staff member going the extra mile to ensure we were well looked after.
Fantastically well thought out meals were delicious with lovely presentation and our picnic on the lawns, under the trees was very romantic, tranquil with so much food and treats to finish!
Thank you to the Management and every single staff member for helping to create a fantastic, relaxing and pampered weekend.
What an incredible venue, we will be back!! 😎Andy and Lorraine Deans

Spacious rooms with all the amenities you need. The fireplace in the room made all feel very cozy and warm. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptionally divine. Would recommend a television in the bar area to enjoy big sporting events with other guests. All staff were very accommodating and helpful.

An inviting, restful, peaceful, and quiet gem found in Magaliesburg. The rooms are spacious with a shower and a spacious tab. The area is inviting for walks, safe, and clean. The staff is ready to help at any time and if you forget anything, be sure to ask them, and they will assist. The food menu is top class and they accommodate requests for those with special needs.
