Whale View Manor… distinctive and sumptuous…. a jewel of a guest house located in historic Simon’s Town and close to Boulders Beach that is world famous for the African Penguins. Whale View Manor is situated directly opposite a picturesque and secluded beach. The uninterrupted, breath-taking views, at the southern-most tip of Africa enhance the unique experience of this accommodation. This gem also has a backdrop of majestic mountain vistas. As you step into the eclectic reception area, you are treated to an extravaganza of the senses. Extraordinary artifacts and collectibles greet and welcome you. Susan Smyth, the owner, travels extensively and her keen eye selects remarkable objet d'art that she lovingly brings home to Whale View Manor. Visual delights are further accentuated by subtle fragrances wafting through the reception, by bougainvillea petals floating inside from the charming courtyard and by the gleaming smiles of the dedicated staff. Exemplary service defines Whale View Manor. The team will go to any lengths to create a memorable, magical experience for their valued guests – from set ting up a breakfast table on the beach to arranging a tantalizing high-tea in the garden. Flexibility and creativity allow for the team to cater to your dreams. Accommodation:Six of the rooms have spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, while four have beautiful garden and mountain views. All the rooms have newly appointed en suite bathrooms and satellite television. Breakfast & Dining: Breakfast is served in the restaurant overlooking the ocean. Scrumptious freshly prepared meals are served with the aroma of freshly ground coffee filling the air. Our restaurant is open for lunch and dinner - booking essential. The meals are quite delectable.

I booked here with high hopes as a place to savour the stunning coast, the potential to see whales, and the possibility of being able to conduct work effectively and smoothly in an apparently 4 star rated hotel. Meeting the hostess and owner was a delight. The internet connectivity was intermittent at very best - it was actually a disaster and it was impossible even to search for alternative accommodation. I had to take myself elsewhere to find a local cafe that could sustain calls over zoom effectively. Free wifi being advertised on the site is a flight of fancy - yes it is free - but it does not work which at the rates that they are charging is simply not OK in these times. Our hostess clearly knew and promised I would be able to access the internet from the lounge as it would not work in the bedrooms... There was no desk or surface to work on in the bedroom and both the toilet roll holder and the towel wrack were loose and coming out of the wall. Our shower was cold the first night and morning. Only when asked for the following day was there hot water. The shower pressure was sad at best. Parking is tight and can only be reached up a very, very steep gauntlet drive. It is dangerous coming down on to the main road. Our bill was reduced by 15% on departure. Reflecting now I see what a sad missed-opportunity Whale View Manor is. I hope and pray that these essential practical matters can and will be attended to as a matter of urgency. I wish them well.

Lovely people with a kind heart. The booking was last minute and they went out of their way to welcome us late at night. The vibe is relaxed and we enjoyed our stay. Located near Simon’s Town and nice small beach across the road.

I only stayed one night (attended a wedding down the road) but it was a lovely stay nonetheless. Spacious room, comfortable (massive!) bed, with the most gorgeous sea view. Could hear the waves crashing on the rocks as I went to sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only slight negative was that the room got quite hot with the morning sun baking directly into it, even with all the blinds down. This was in April so can only imagine how it must bake in peak summer. Perhaps blockout curtains could be added to assist. But otherwise - highly recommend!

There is no doubt that Whaleview Manor boasts the most exquisite views on this part of the coastline, a gorgeous regal house with a fantastic beach 30m from its driveway. Lovely sea-facing rooms BUT all of this soon pales when the manager/hostess Elsa proved to be a cantankerous, visibly irritated, impolite and ungracious person. Our remarks about stained sheets on our newly made bed; cold coffee at breakfast, were met with disdain, downright rudeness. She insisting on speaking Afrikaans thinking I didn't understand, and insulted when we moved from one table to another because of a cold draft in the breakfast dining room- truly SHOCKING. We were there for one night, to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary, but it honestly seemed like this person was determined to make it as unpleasant as possible... and she did. Wont be back there. Count on that.

Me and my daughter stayed at the WVM for two nights in April. The Whale View Manor is situated on the outskirts of Simonstown and lies just across the road from a quiet, stunningly beautiful, little beach with boulders, white sand and turquoise water. The balcony of our room faced the beach and the view was as stunning in the morning as in the night. Everything with WVM was just perfect! The room, the breakfast but most of all the hospitality. The manager Elsa and her staff, always at hand, made us feel really comfortable helping us with advice as well as practical things. Although we were only there for a couple of nights it really felt as if WVM became a bit of a home away from home. Thanks to Elsa and her husband (and dog).

Whale View Manor is located beautifully near penguin sanctuaries. The only downside to Simon's Town is the internet access. It was really hard to get reception. At the time, we did not have a car and so, I suggest you get a car to move around sightseeing as the town is filled with historic scenes.

We arrived to find the bed sheets in our room and the towels were covered in stains. When we asked these to be changed we were told they could only be changed with even dirtier sheets so there was no point. When we refused to stay because they couldn't provide clean bedding they wouldn't offer any refund. No customer service at all. The hotel is generally tired and dated, the bed was old and the headboard faux leather was falling apart. Everything in the hotel felt dirty and un-kept. There are so many nice places to stay around here, dont choose this place.
