Whale View Manor… distinctive and sumptuous…. a jewel of a guest house located in historic Simon’s Town and close to Boulders Beach that is world famous for the African Penguins. Whale View Manor is situated directly opposite a picturesque and secluded beach. The uninterrupted, breath-taking views, at the southern-most tip of Africa enhance the unique experience of this accommodation. This gem also has a backdrop of majestic mountain vistas. As you step into the eclectic reception area, you are treated to an extravaganza of the senses. Extraordinary artifacts and collectibles greet and welcome you. Susan Smyth, the owner, travels extensively and her keen eye selects remarkable objet d'art that she lovingly brings home to Whale View Manor. Visual delights are further accentuated by subtle fragrances wafting through the reception, by bougainvillea petals floating inside from the charming courtyard and by the gleaming smiles of the dedicated staff. Exemplary service defines Whale View Manor. The team will go to any lengths to create a memorable, magical experience for their valued guests – from set ting up a breakfast table on the beach to arranging a tantalizing high-tea in the garden. Flexibility and creativity allow for the team to cater to your dreams. Accommodation:Six of the rooms have spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, while four have beautiful garden and mountain views. All the rooms have newly appointed en suite bathrooms and satellite television. Breakfast & Dining: Breakfast is served in the restaurant overlooking the ocean. Scrumptious freshly prepared meals are served with the aroma of freshly ground coffee filling the air. Our restaurant is open for lunch and dinner - booking essential. The meals are quite delectable.

A place of quietness and peace. The beach is literally across the road from the entrance to the manor, the breakfasts are delicious and the staff very friendly.
Rooms are comfortable and clean and if you get a sea view facing room the view is something you will not tire of looking at.

What a great place for a quick getaway, even if you live in Cape Town. This beautifully appointed and intimate (boutique) hotel is comparatively affordable, close to a great swimming beach - in fact a quick stroll across the road - in a serene and peaceful setting, and with amazing views. Hosts are very welcoming and warm; breakfast was excellent; rooms ideal for a great night's sleep with the ocean a stone's throw away. We had great fun.

We arrived to find the bed sheets in our room and the towels were covered in stains. When we asked these to be changed we were told they could only be changed with even dirtier sheets so there was no point. When we refused to stay because they couldn't provide clean bedding they wouldn't offer any refund. No customer service at all.
The hotel is generally tired and dated, the bed was old and the headboard faux leather was falling apart. Everything in the hotel felt dirty and un-kept. There are so many nice places to stay around here, dont choose this place.

The location is fantastic, directly opposite a small beach, with crashing waves easily heard through the window. Service was very friendly, well-stocked honour bar in the lounge, delicious breakfast available with several nice looking options. very good rates available due to COVID.

Fantastic time for our extended family trip to Cape Town. Elsa and her staff were extremely attentive and helpful in spite of our odd time schedules of activities. Breakfast was divine each morning, and the lounge area was perfect for evening drinks and games. Elsa's carrot cake was a special treat, and even the local baboon agreed, when he surprised us one evening and walked right in to sample it! The location was very close to Boulders Beach and False Bay with beautiful views of the beach right across the street, and it was an easy commute into town for activites and food. Well done all the way around!!

Starting with the positive great location for the Cape Point Nature Reserve only 10 min drive to the gate. As stated in previous reviews there is a lovely small sandy swimming beach right across the road from the guesthouse. The surrounding area has a relaxed friendly feel to it.
On the downside our room (no.2) & house in general looked a bit tired & the place felt a little disorganised. The washhand basin in the shower room was at such a height I had to stand on my tiptoes to wash my face - I’m 1.6m tall. Our room was small, no easy chairs however the bed was comfortable
Covid had a lot to answer for but the room rate we paid I expected better.

The website boasts of a four star rating which is very far from the truth . What I am most disappointed with is at the lack of accountability and acknowledgement from the Else the owner when I raised my issues with her She acted like she was the victim and avoided addressing or recovering the situation.
On arrival we discovered that our room where very small and crowded No TV and the wifi did not work The bed was broken and the bedding was dirty and old. The first night we heard rats in the ceiling There was dog poop at right outside our garden entrance. We noticed rats on the tree next to our unit. On our first night a staff member walked into the lounge area drunk and became rude when we asked him if management was aware of his drunk state. At breakfast the staff are wearing dirty clothes and are hung over. This family run business are have lost the plot on customer service and integrity. There is no visible leadership or management of the establishment . What a relief to come home to a clean and comfortable bed. I would like a call from Else to acknowledge the issues with the accomodation and to confirm that there is a plan to fix and correct the issues that were raised

Whale View Manor was such a delightful place to spend time relaxing in beautiful surroundings on the Cape peninsula.
Near to Simonstown and Boulder beach with the awesome penguins, let alone shark and whale watching.
Elsa and her excellent staff create a lovely athmosphere and were always on hand to make us feel comfortable and give advice.
The truly perfect beach is right across from the hotel and there is no better view over False Bay than the one from their terrace while enjoying a superb breakfast. We were sorry to leave, but hope to be back.
