If I could, I would rate the place a zero. We had the worst experience ever. I booked the place for my aunt and uncle and from day one we had nothing but the worst experience. The room my family was given reeked dog pee and when we complained they searched around and the curtain was peed on by one of the dogs. They changed the curtain and we settled. They claimed all their rooms had seaview only to be welcomed by an untidy, unwelcoming background. On two consecutive nights they went into my uncle's room without knocking just to tell them what time breakfast was served - talk about invasion of privacy!! The breakfast left nothing to be desired and when in day two we told them we couldn't stay because of all these reasons, they became so defensive and insulting and Anna, who had been previously nice as we were talking through bookings told us we behaved like we came right out of Hollywood. She promised to refund us the money and asked me to provide my banking details but the following day claimed my uncle and aunt broke the bath tub which they never used because it never worked from day 1. They then refused to refund us R2600, complete scammers using lies to lure customers.

Unfortunately the place has gone down since the new owners have taken over. They are still riding high on what others have worked hard for and now the place is going to ruin. The place is like a morgue. No one staying there. All rooms are empty. The woman that's in charge is sour and unfriendly. Dirty and they have bed bugs. We lasted a day and we ran away. I'll never go back there.

We sincerely apologise for your experience, and we have taken your feedback very seriously. We officially re-opened on 1 Feb, and the whole guest house (after being semi closed for most of lock down) has been deep cleaned, fumigated and currently undergoing a revamp to get it back to it's original standard. We do hope to see you back!

Dishonest. Unscrupulous. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Bedbug infestation!! Stole my money!! Very friendly until you have paid. Then they don't take your calls or hang up on you and don't respond to messages. Very unpleasant experience. Incredibly unprofessional.

This place was reasonably priced for what you get. It's a short drive outside Simon's town. The room we had had a weird shower and loo built into the cupboards. So they were a bit cramped. Service was very friendly.

Everything was nice and the room was great. Comfortable nice bed to sleep on. The breakfast was also nice. We were received with a smile. Only thing i can say is maybe check if the tv channels are working because we couldnt watch tv and it was to late to ask the staff or owners.

15 On Penguin Guesthouse? A great home away from home! The wife, our 2 children [aged 23 and 17] and I had reserved a spacious family room for 2 days. Wonderful accommodations: spacious, comfortable, well-equipped with the necessary mod-cons. Apart from the TV with satellite channels, we plugged in our HDMI laptop and were able to watch our favourite series on the large flatscreen tv. Our hosts, the Smiths, were charming and chatty, and made us feel at home immediately. Breakfasts were expansive and delicious, ranging from fruit juice, coffee/tea, cereals, bacon, eggs and toast, pancakes, etc. Really delicious. We'd also booked during a quiet long-weekend when we seemed to be the only folks on our room's level, so this made for super-quiet surroundings. The beds were awesome - large, firm mattresses [the way we like them]; the shower was pleasantly strong and hot. The staff -- attentive but unobtrusive. All in all, totally our money's worth. Highly recommended; we'll be back!
