The owners were kind enough to warn us that the property is perched high above the road - so not ideal for walkers - you definitely need a car to access. The flat was confortable but the decor dated, and whilst the kitchen was well equiped it did feel tired and in need of modernising. Well provided for with linen and the beds comfortable. Sadly we visited while the birds were feasting on berries and depositing everywhere which was unpleasant and prevented us using the balcony. Otherwise the owners were helpful and polite.
We booked a 3 night stay at Napthali through booking.com. On arrival our room was allocated to someone else, the owner ushered us to share a room with a kitchen with his caretaker as the owner was overseas. We were not satisfied with our room as the room we booked had its own kitchenette. We decided to stay only a night and move on, to that the owner over the phone tells us that we paid for two nights and got a 3 night package, which was not mentioned or noted on our booking and reservation from booking.com. View was partially nice other than that a very uncomfortable stay.
Stayed in the Naphtali Lodge which has fantastic views of Boulders beach and False Bay from their comfortable rooms. An Ideal place to visit the Penguin colony of Boulders beach pus only a short walk into Simons Town and enjoy the unique harbour restaurants.
One of best view stay in Cape Town. Please consider this before you book any other hotel if you plan to stay in Simonstown. And also it's nearby to all the places of interest. Salty sea dog hotel is just 5km away.
This property has absolutely amazing views. Many steps to climb. Average accommodation, old fashioned. Wouldn't drink from their old brown tea stained cups. Dried up coffee in a dirty jar. It's an anonymous stay with a maid to let you in. Owner never made an appearance. No breakfast available but a kitchen to prepare your own. Only worth it for the view. If you don't have transport, it's not the place for you. Up windey hills.
This house is perched high up in Simons town overlooking both the land and sea. The hosts greeted me warmly and there was no delay in showing me to my room. It was spacious and had everything that I required and full use of a kitchen. There were sun loungers outside on the terrace and wi if was complimentary. The town and restaurants were a short drive away. The house is beautiful and recommended.
We had a pleasant stay at the Napthali Lodge. Everything was clean and the guest house owners were really nice. The view from our room was heavenly as you can see on the picture. The only thing we missed here was a good internet/wifi connection...
Amazing view of False Bay and Boulders Beach. However, without a car Napthali Lodge is a challenge to get to. The house is perched on a hill the equivalent of 20 flights of stairs from the main road. I know because my step counter gave me the distance every time I made the trek up to the house. Fine if you have a car, but not if you are on foot. I am an avid walker but found the numerous trips up the hill a challenge in the heat. A kitchen is available to guests, but awkward that the fridge is in your room. If you want to make a meal you have to lug food back and forth from your room to the kitchen. Surprising that there is no breakfast for the price.
Misleading advertising of 4* Bed & Breakfast. On arrival told no breakfast and room only serviced every 4 days. When queried was given a lecture on profitability of running a B&B and how previous guests' behaviour. The owners did finally agree to servicing the room. No security which meant windows needed to be kept closed when out of the room and at night. No aircon and no fan - so summer nights very hot and difficult to sleep. Views are spectacular.
Wanting to do something different for Christmas, we booked to stay here. Both Rob and Yvonne were very nice, whether on the phone or as we arrived. The rooms are lovely and big, each with their own access to the wrap around balcony. On the face of it it was hard to fault anything. The view was idyllic. The bed and linen were gorgeous-big and crisp white linen. The communal kitchen looked perfectly equipped for self- caterers. Location is good. .. far enough from town to be away from it all but close enough to nip in for a meal or shopping. There is a small beach and open areas overlooking the sea a short walk down the hill. Settling in, here are a few observations. .. 1. There is no information pack to guide one through the "housekeeping" ( the wifi was not obvious and we had to call for it) 2. Rob and Yvonne probably have a wealth of local info - restaurants, walks, activities- but once we had been welcomed in, we didn't really want to disturb them so an info pack would help. 3. I always love to read about the history of places/towns etc. I am sure this could be put into a file for guests to read while admiring the view! 4. I see someone earlier complained about the mildew in the bathroom. This was obviously taken on board as our bathroom had a fresh coat of paint but was definitely not finished. In addition the grouting around the bath was needing attention. I would recommend bathroom makeovers to be in keeping with the lovely rooms. 5. Breakfast. I thought I had booked a b&b - which it is BUT it is also self-catering. I didn't notice nothing was mentioned about the time b'fast would be served until late in the day. It would have been nice, as we were only staying 1 night, to be offered b'fast. ... even for an extra charge (although I think the rate could cover it) a continental b'fast, as we had no supplies. Just a thought! Rob mentioned to look out for good winter tarrifs. I certainly will as I think Napthali Lodge is worth it just for the view! …
