My husband and I were the first guests of this season at Masoala Forest Lodge and a trip we will never forget. Our journey to the Lodge started from Tana and we travelled by the recommended charter flight with Sky Services. This was a fabulous experience and a very reliable way to start this part of our Madagascan holiday. The Lodge is situated on a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by palm trees and rain forest and you immediately feel that you have arrived in a very special place. The remoteness may not suit everyone but for us it was just what we were looking for. The accommodation is very good considering where the lodge is located and our beach side bungalow was very well presented, comfortable and exceptionally clean. To lie on the hammock reading a booking overlooking

I had read Trip Advisor reviews prior to my arrival so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed! Upon being met at the airport you are transported to the boat, but can enjoy a light breakfast before the boat launches. Each group is assigned their own personal guide for the entirety of their stay. Our guide, Felix, was excellent. He has been guiding in the Masoala Preserve since before it was established. His expertise was remarkable. The hike at Nosy Magabe was strenuous up towards the summit, but other, less strenuous hikes were available. The guides worked to find the beautiful black and white lemurs. After the hike a nice picnic lunch was provided before the boat ride to the lodge. As one reviewer noted there are no seat backs on the boat so it could be problematic

My husband and I stayed at Masoala Forest Lodge for a week and we had a great time. We took the charter flight (which is highly recommended as Air Madagascar is so unreliable) and got there by boat from Maroansetra which was an adventure all on its own seeing the lovely forest from afar. We met our great guide, Elysee, which was very energetic and knowledgeable about Madagascar (and all its folklore), the animals and even the various plants, he also made our stay at the lodge a breeze as he always planned the day with the elements in mind. The day spent at Nosy Mangabe was also great as we got to see the black and white ruffed lemurs. We arrived at the lodge after lunch and met with Zach, one of the managers who went through everything with us. We arrived on the 31st of December

Stunning holiday in one of the most beautiful places , that is not spoilt . A boat ride accros the bay . No roads link this lodge to the closest town called Maroansetra . Unspoilt beaches and natural tropical forests

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Masoala Forest Lodge! Every day we chose a different activity (with suggestions from our guide, Felix) including hiking in the primary and secondary rainforests, kayaking, snorkeling, visiting the nearby village, etc. We would generally leave after breakfast for the activity, return for lunch, relax at the lodge in the afternoon, then have drinks by the fire, have dinner, then go on a guided night walk. It was perfect for us given that we wanted to be quite active but you could certainly do less if you wanted to. The food was excellent! For lunch you have the option to choose traditional Malagasy or a more western meal. We tried both and they were great. Everything was very fresh and local - from the fish to the fruits and
