Masoala Forest Lodge is a really great experience. Platform tents with comfy beds and hammocks yards from the beach and rainforest. Great snorkeling right off the beach. Tasty meals made with ingredients grown on the property. Swiss/South African/Malagasy owned. Sustainable/eco-friendly. Knowledgeable guides to show you the beauty of the rainforest. Kayaking too. A little slice of heaven and a bit of luxury at a reasonable price.
African safari style permanent tents on raised platforms. Extremely nice! There is a separate bathroom with flush toilets and a sink with running water, as well as a separate shower (no hot water, but they will bring you buckets of hot water for a warm shower if you need one). The tents are large canvas with lots of ventilation, all in excellent condition. Each has a private hammock out back. The dining facility is in a main area with a mini-bar and additional hammocks, chairs and reading material. There is nearby guided hiking in the Masoala Forest where you can look for red-ruffed or brown lemurs, or do nocturnal walks for leaf-tailed geckos, mouse lemurs, sportive lemurs, or wooly lemurs.
