I have been to many AIs and this ranks as my 2nd best. In Punta Cana I have been to Hard Rock, Grand Bahia, and Majestic Mirage. I felt the Mirage had the best rooms but overall the Iberostar Grand was the best overall hotel. The rooms were very nice and clean. The food overall was excellent. The beach and pools were great. The bartenders and the wait staff were amazing. After reading reviews i think i got the worst butler in the resort. I never saw him and had to call anytime i needed something. I made dinner reservations and had to call as he didnt give me the times i asked for. I had a dead bird on the roof next to my balcony. I asked to have removed and it was there for the 9 days of my trip. I only saw him 1 time while i was at the resort. The entertainment staff were friendly but unless you had the times and locations of the activities you wouldnt know they were going on except bingo. At the Iberostar grand in Mexico the activities were done on the side of the main pool so there were more people joining. The specialty restaurants were top notch. I had filet 5 days in a row. The food and service as good as any place i have been. The buffets were just good. I didnt like how the hot stations the chefs cooking people's eggs or steaks had to hand you food. THey seem to get too busy and you are waiting for a slice of bacon when you can easily get it yourself. If this was a covid restriction i would understand but when you turn around you help yourself with the same type of tongs to the salad and other cold items. Overall we had a great trip and if we dont go back to Mexico next year we would consider coming back

It's clear that we all have to give some slack to hotels during the pandemic. It's just impossible to judge these times versus the standard. Given that, there were staff members at the Grand Iberostar who went far, far, far out of their way to make our stay was incredibly nice. THANK YOU! Dany at the desk welcomed us so warmly and helped us several times throughout our stay. What a nice man. Leo, our butler, was tremendously busy throughout the resort, but found time to make our stay a very memorable one. He really went out of the way to help. Three of the most outstanding service personnel I have ever met made sure we had a terrific time too. Each of these people greeted us by name almost every day and took the time to make certain we were having a great time. Thank you, Armondo, Chris Brown and Excellente. You three were just an absolute delight. The shining star of our entire trip, was the single most wonderful employee we have ever encountered on our 20+ vacations in the past few years. That amazing person was Yocari B. What a dream girl. She took every possible moment to make us feel special and made certain that we were happy with our stay. I mean she was outstanding. Kind, funny, caring and everything a guest could want. Get this - We mentioned that we were considering shopping in town, but were a bit shy about not knowing the area. So, she actually arranged her time off the next afternoon to bring in a friend to drive all us us, including her, to some local shops so we could do so together. Who does that? What a terrific person. Yocari, you made our whole trip fantastic. Sadly, due to our own issues, we could not make the shopping trip. I guess that's where I should give our experience so that you might avoid the same issues. We had our Covid test scheduled for the next day and got to the shuttle on time. A seemingly long golf cart escort wasn't bad - maybe 5-10-minutes. But, when we got there waiting in the sweat-lobby, they told us we needed passports. So, back to the shuttle and to the room to get those. Once there, and waited in line again - Sorry, you -each- need a cell phone to get your own e-mails for the confirmations. So, back to the room and back. Given the semi-long commute, it took us a total of 2 1/2 hours to get our Covid tests done. Then, another hour to have them printed though a series of tracking down emails and forwarding to the desk. All in all it took about 3 1/2 hours to get done what should have been 30 minutes max. I believe the fault was with the system. They need to be very specific with what needs to be done, what needs to be taken, and what to expect. It just was not there. We had an even worse nightmare leaving the country. It was the single worst travel experience of my 1,000,000+ mile travels. Do everything you can to proactively complete the needed information, and pay very close attention to the wording of the poorly-created DR exit forms that are online. It was truly a mess. Easily 1/2 of all the travelers at the airport had to block everyone behind them while completing the online mess (on their cell phones), over and over - because it's worded so poorly that all the information had to be repeatedly entered by everyone we were standing in line with. It was a MESS. It took us almost 2 hours in the humid heat, sweating our butts off filling in forms and waiting in line at American, where more than half of the kiosks were out of order. When EVERYONE makes the same mistakes, it is not the people, it is the poor process. American Airlines and the airport staff need to fix it. Not, everyone who all made the same common mistakes could be at fault. It's the system. (eg "How many people with be traveling with you?" to me, and 1/2 the people there, that meant a party of 2 would insert "2". NO - it meant how many companions are with -you-, meaning you should insert "1". Doing it the way 1/2 of us thought, that meant getting to the end of a form that took 15 minutes per-person to fill out, only to find "Info for Passenger 3" who did not exist. The ONLY way around it at that point was to delete everything and start over. It's completely crazy and needs to be fixed). This was the longest I have ever stood in line at any time, except maybe the months following 9/11. Aside from the horrible Covid test and boarding experience, the Entertainment team, especially Yocari B, Armando, Chris Brown and Excellent more than made up for it. We will always remember and be grateful for that amazing team. Thank you! (And American Airlines and Covid-testing teams, please get your act together.)

After covid pandemic break in 2020, we returned to Iberostar Bavaro Grand, to our favorite ocean front room in 3 floor. There are several reasons for this returning "strategy": 1/ perfect location of Bavaro Grand on the beach 2/ perfect hotel facility 3/ perfect staff , means all from room keeping service, minibar service, bottlers, bar staff , kitchen and restaurants staff and management as well 4/ perfect food and kitchen with superior quality and offer from healthy food as well

My friend and I returned from a 2 week trip to The Grand and loved every minute of it! Even though it started a little bumpy (we had paid for, requested and emailed resort to remind them we wanted a room with 2 beds) we were given a room with a king. Well, luckily Angel at the front desk made sure to fix the problem and it was only for 1 night, so no problemo (thank you Angel!)! The rooms were comfortable and clean, our butlers were Darlyn and Alby, unfortunately we didn’t see Alby too often (no one’s fault... just timing) but Darlyn was extremely helpful getting our dinner reservations (no issues there), lowering AC in our room, checking in on us on the beach and at the pool and always willing to help us in any way he could. Just a wonderful young man! The staff at the buffets and the speciality restaurants were SO lovely! Gleny, Yennifer, Lorraine were STAND OUTS! So kind and friendly! We looked forward to seeing them every day! Our beach butlers, Hamlet and Carlos took care of us all day long! And the pool bartenders Bruno and Eryie were so fun! The Star Friends were a lot of fun and very outgoing, but always respectful of personal space, our friend Armando was a stand out in joyfulness, so glad we met him! The beach was clear of seaweed, the sand soft and warm, huts and loungers always available. The pool was refreshing and beautiful, loungers and cabanas filled up quickly in am but we preferred the beach. (Side note: please, refrain from bringing speakers for your own music, some folks really want to listen to just the waves, not your idea of ‘fun’ music). In addition the food was delicious in every restaurant AND the buffet (I know! But seriously..... REALLY GOOD!) And finally, we met so many lovely people enjoying their vacations as well that we collectively decided that we must all return next year and meet up! See you soon ladies!
