Jiwa Jawa Resort is convenient base camp for trip to Kawah Ijen. Location is 30 minutes away by jeep and the resort could arrange for jeep tour complete with guide for the hike. We left at 2am from the hotel to catch the 3am gate opening time. Staying for 2 nights allowed us to have cycling trip around the area also arranged by the resort, enjoying the hilly route and learning local culture. Food is good, you should try the Bebek Goreng. The chili is just awesome. Dinner menu is of good variety though a bit pricy. Oh and they have serve good coffee. Taman Gandrung Terakota is just next door, also owned by Jiwa Jawa. The hotel jeep can take you there to learn about Gandrung dance, bamboo collection and have a snack at the cafe (closed on Monday, you can still have a tour and take instagrammable pictures).…
We stayed there for one night. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. Another good thing was that a few of the staff loved socialising, talking and taking interest in our work, hobbies, our experience at Ijen, etc making it as if we weren’t staying at a big resort. The location is near mount Ijen’s entrance, around 10-15 mins drive and there’s a free shuttle to Taman Gandrung. The breakfast selection could have been better, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
We stayed two nights to do Mt. Ijen. The hotel is really nice but I think we were the only guests. That is a first for me. The staff were super attentive and very nice. It is low season so it was very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are really nice. There is a restaurant and a coffee bar. The menu was limited and they need some work on the quality of their food, but it was good enough for us. The breakfast was nice. There wasn't anything else to do at the hotel but nearby we saw a waterfall and stopped at the 1911 Cafe for great coffee. They have a plantation tour as well.
The hotel, rooms are very beautiful, specially surrounding which covered with forest areas. Staff is too amazing and helpful. We were overwhelmed by there surprise cake on checkout to celebrate our anniversary. Special thanks to them for this. Food is decent and can be improved.
I stayed at Jiwa Jawa Resort Ijen for two nights. It was our accommodation chosen for our visit to Kawah Ijen. The facility is ideally located, around 16 kms from Pos Paltuding, the start of the trek. The hotel is ideally located, with a very wide view of the surroundings. The staff is extremely welcoming and efficient; a special thank you to Ima and Dani. The restaurant on the top floor offers a very relaxing view and the food was great. Dont hesitate to get all your clothes and shoes washed after the visit to Ijen; they do a great job. It is also well worth visiting Taman Ganderung Terakota, a few hundred meters from the hotel. It offers stunning views of rice fields and makes great coffee. I would stay there again if I visit again.
