Ok first of all I didn’t really like the resort of Mossel Bay. Couple of nice beaches but nothing much else to recommend the area. The B and B, hmm the young girl Jamie gave us a good welcome and my room was ok with a nice view. It was like an old building that has been given a make up to a certain extent. Pool was small and had not been cleaned, BreaKfast was fine nothing that special. Sheets and towel had old washed stains on them. Really hard as it was ok but really nothing special. Didn’t like Mossel Bay and wouldn’t go back to resort or hotel but we had a couple of great meals in local restaurants see sep reports.

I arrived at the hotel around 17h00 last Thursday and was met by a very friendly and helpful lady - I think her name is Marianne. My room was big with an amazing sea view. Big bathroom and big shower with a good breakfast thrown in. R650 all included. Excellent value.
As I was only there for one night and I left after breakfast, I can't rate the facilities.

Edward Charles Manor was okay. Overall, the room was clean and average. The breakfast and the breakfast area were better than I anticipated. The location was okay; although, be prepared to climb some hills if you want to explore on foot. It's an economical choice. We only stayed one night as we were passing through Mossel Bay.

The fan in Room 5 requires urgent repair !! Late night noise was a problem. Someone banging doors late at night. Room slightly too small. The refrigerator functions poorly. Not very cold at all. No ice. Stairs from road level to reception a serious problem. Extremely steep and a problemm for elderly people to carry luggage up and down those steps.

At end of long drive across South Afirica , this was probably one of the best guest houses I stayed in . Very efficient reception , huge , clean bedroom and bathroom , comfy bed , from which I could look out over the bay .... Bliss !!!
Breakfast cooked to order and very good , easy walk into friendly little town , off road parking a little cramped but ok .
Very impressed , would definitely recommend .

I have read some of the reviews.... WOW if you have champaign taste and beer money Edward Charles Manor is not for you. One only need a place to lay your head in the evening as you are out all day. The staff is awesome, Charlene you welcomed us a day early, accommodated us with a smile on your face. yes pets are full up, as it is PET FRIENDLY ... My bedding, was clean got clean towels every day, as for the ants, I bought a tin of doom, problem solved. my laundry was done every 2nd day. WOW could not have asked for better. breakfast, fresh fruit salad every day, hot and cold breakfast... the pool clean, we spent a lot of afternoons in the pool.I would recommend Edward Charles Manor. in fact I have put it on PET FRIENDLY Destination Site.Once again thank you Charlene and staff for a wonderful stay.

Dirty linen and towels, ants in the bathroom, not good aircon. There were a lot of dogs everywhere and a bad smell in some of the rooms. Staff were not particularly service-minded. The pool was dirty and there was not much of a terrace outside. Breakfast did not feel fresh. Only stayed one night and will not return.

We stayed two nights in this small hotel - my husband, myself and adult daughter. It was fine, the room was large and beds were very comfortable. We had an amazing view.

Staff were friendly and helpful and overall our stay was good value for money. We did not use the swimming pool - it's more of a plunge pool and it was in the shade when we wanted to use it. Breakfast was good but there were not many people staying at the time and so there was not much atmosphere.

Mossel Bay is not a place you would want to stay for too many nights, just as one of the guide books says really, a pleasant stopping off place along the Garden Route. We had the most amazing meal at Jazzbury's - probably the best meal we had during our stay in South Africa.

Maybe some of the upstairs rooms are not suitable for elderly or disabled - we had to access our room via a spiral staircase although there was alternative access as well. In some ways this added charater to the place although it might be difficult for some lesser able bodied folk!

On a hill just a couple a minutes behind the town and marina. It has great views out to the bay plus super friendly staff. Building itself starting to look a little worn with scuff marks etc and there can be TV and snoring noise between rooms so bring ear pugs if noise sensitive.

Gorgeous views. Excellent value for money. Unfortunately they don't serve supper so guests have to find a restaurant in town about 500m from the manor. No problem right? I returned from supper only to find that the electronic key tag used to unlock the access door did not work. I called their contact no. several times but no answer. They have an emergency cell no. displayed on the access door but this was a waste of time and airtime because it goes immediately to voicemail. Sat in my car and hooted hoping management would hear it but this just infuriated the neighbours. I almost conceded to sleeping in the car or finding other accommodation until one of the house guests awoke and opened up for me. Still no management in site. Conclusion....After hours service is non existent.
