Outeniqua Moon Percheron Stud and Guest Farm is a farm with a difference. Situated at the foot of the Robinson Pass, we offer spectacular mountain views. Not only do our guests enjoy the luxurious Victorian-style self-catering units, they are also given the opportunity to interact with the majestic, regal heavy draft horses that we breed and protect on the farm. A visit includes an exciting cart ride over Fynbos-covered lands on the illustrious Vulcan that leaves our guests exhilarated and invigorated. It is a bird-watchers paradise, the African silence broken by the singing, twittering, chirping, tweeting and whistling of the huge variety of birds that share their land with us.

We stayed at the farm recently for two nights on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. We stayed in the Blue Suite which was a spacious self catering apartment which had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The Farm does bed and breakfast which I would recommend rather than bothering to cook as there’s a great selection to choose from and the owner Christine is a great cook.
The location is very peaceful with a lovely area to lay by the pool or you can go hiking. Then there’s the horses! Absolutely fabulous. I can recommend the carriage ride.
Both Christine and Chrissy are lovely and very knowledgeable about the horses and their passion is clear. Chrissy was excellent very patient with us as we got to meet most of the horses.
We loved our stay here even although we are not horsey people and would definitely stay here again.

This eclectic destination is unique in its dedication to breeding and preserving Pecheron draft horses. They boast the heaviest stallion, Shadowfax, at 1250 kg and nearly 20 hands high. This gentle giant is an amazing horse. The farm has only 4 suites, 2 family ones sleeping up to 5 and 2 doubles. The "Honeymoon Suite" where we stayed is on the 1st floor up some reasonably steep steps. It has magnificent views from the lounge/kitchen over the lawn and swimming pool to the mountains and the bedroom overlooks the paddocks. The cart ride is a "must do" when visiting Outeniqua Moon. It was the highlight of our stay along with "meeting Shadowfax. While all the suites are self catering, we chose to have dinner and breakfast in the dining room. But beware! You have to come hungry as the excellent farmhouse meals provided by Shirley are very generous and delicious. It's really difficult to rate this establishment as it is "one of a kind" and while individual elements might only justify a 4 star rating the package elevates it to 5 star.

A wonderful few days spending time with South Africa's biggest horses. This is a NPC and a working farm, but the guest accommodation side of things is perfect for a budget stay. The experiences with the horses are a must, especially the carriage ride which is... well... rather exciting.
Christine and Peter are clearly deeply passionate about their work with these horses: something that shows in their care and knowledge, which they are very happy to share.
Rooms ae basic, but warm and comfortable. Fully set up for self-catering, but do yourself a favour of enjoying the homemade breakfasts and dinners (book in advance), which were another real highlight for us.
Hiking trails and MTB routes available, and a lovely, peaceful out-of-town location surrounded by nature from which to explore the region.

OMW this is such a special place. The horses are really beautiful and well cared for. The foals were super special and having one lie with it's head on my lap really made my day <3 Kevin, the farm manager is an absolute hoot with his descriptions when he took us on a tour around the horses, he also took us on a cart ride which was great. Christine is a fantastic host and is really passionate about her horses. Unfortunately we didn't get to sample her food because her arm was injured but she suggested we go to a game farm down the road which was great. The accommodation was perfect for my son and myself. This is a fantastic place if you just want to chill and get back to nature and have some horse therapy :) I loved the vaulting and also sitting on Shadowfax was really special. I will definitely come back and this time it will be with my husband <3 Thank you Christine and Kevin for the informative tour around the horses and also for encouraging people to interact with them. The location is perfect - not too far from Mossel Bay or from Oudtshoorn

Even if you are not a horsey person, this is a lovely place to stay. The staff are clearly well looked after and happy, and this definitely comes across in their experiences with you. The rooms are lovely and the food is beyond delicious, with one of the best oxtail dishes I have ever had. The breakfasts on the verandah also being a have to do! Christine; owner, host and BFG (Big Friendly Giant) Mom, goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable and enjoyable and her love for these well cared for giants is infectious. Special mention to Jackie, Lindy, Kevin and all the other wonderful people who make this a go to excellent experience. Nice gentle walks and a slightly more strenuous, guided forest walk options are available. Lovely, well supervised horse interactions with the well behaved giants, with the carriage drive being a wonderful fun experience, are also on offer and are available to guests and day visitors.

Christine and Peter Watt have created wonderful guest accommodation in the middle of their Percherons breeding farm. The well-equipped suites have everything needed for self-catering but it would be almost criminal not to take advantage of Christine’s amazing cooking. She creates substantial breakfasts to set you up for the day and lovely suppers! Everything she serves is home grown or local and organic and the flavours prove this. Peter takes you round the farm and introduces you to all the wonderful horses and you can also take a cart ride to explore the extent of their property and the fabulous views. The swimming pool is big enough, for once, to swim properly, as well as a lovely spot around which to chill out! The Watts have devoted their lives to rescuing this amazing breed of horses and are real environmental crusaders. I only wish we could have stayed longer

I had the ABSOLUTE time of my LIFE!!!! The farm is very accessible, watching the magnificent horses graze on your way to the beautiful Farmhouse already had the relaxing endorphins tickling. To have the opportunity to ride the biggest horse in South Africa - a dream come true!!! the horse carriage ride was exhilarating and heaps of fun! Never thought I would get the chance to do VAULTING! WOW, that was a bonus surprise for me. I fell hopelessly in love with one of the mares, I truly hope to visit again.

We had the most special experience over 3 days staying at this beautiful farm! Not only were the horses even more magnificent than we expected, the hosts were awesome. It was Ronel's birthday and Christine offered to bake a cake as desert to surprise her! The chocolate mousse cake was not only spectacular, but also delicious. Chrissy, the young but friendly and extremely helpful manager also went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Altogether a most delightful visit and highly recommended.
