Even though we were the only guests during low season we received great attention. Service staff was very friendly, tents were clean and food was very good. We booked full Day Game Drive and Mokoro Trip with them. Communication and booking prior to arrival worked well.

Nice camp in the way to Moremi Game Reserve. It is big and well equipped, our standard tent was clean and comfortable, the shared facilities were okay. Friendly staff, responsive and helps with transfers to airport and tours to Moremi and mokoro rides.

Myself and another traveler left this place in the middle of our stay to go elsewhere. The owners of the Mochaba and Boteti met with us to apologize for some of the issues we experienced...we appreciated that; but suffice to say that if you are a single female, don't stay here. Again, this place has no wifi, no available drinking water unless you purchase it and the food, especially what they give you to take on game drives leaves a lot to be desired.

Dear BJA213, Thanks for your feedback, which is much appreciated. To address some of your concerns, which we had discussed in person, the water at Mochaba Crossing Lodge is borehole water, and is safe to drink, but tastes a little salty. For this reason, we have found that most guests prefer bottled water, for which there is a charge. The package that you had booked does exclude all drinks, as you were aware. As regards wifi, this is not something we offer at our camps, and we are sorry that you were not made aware of this at the time of your booking. As a company, Bush Ways takes any situation where a guest feels uncomfortable very seriously, which is why we met with you before you departed Botswana. We assured you then that the matter would be taken care of with the utmost urgency. We are sorry that you felt this was not sufficient, and have felt it necessary to post this report, without further contact with either your agent or us directly. We would hope that you continue to speak out where you feel that a situation is not comfortable as a single woman traveller, so that these issues can be recognised and dealt with at the time. Best regards, Bush Ways management

For the last three nights of my Botswana experience, I stayed with Mochaba Crossing and was treated like family by Precious, Godfrey and Deets.....and the entire staff. This is a place to go when you want to completely decompress from your trip. Or it can be a jumping off point for Safari and the Okavango Delta Mokoro trips. Mochaba can book the Mokoro trips or the Game Drive.

Godfrey took me on the Game Drive and then to the Delta where I was met by my Mokoro guide JULIUS. This was a day I can never forget. The things that happened along the way, the hippo, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest we saw on the way home....Godfrey and Deets go out of their way to make the drive a blast.

The Lodge was very very quiet when I was there. I loved my room by the river. I just hung out in the open lounge and wrote in my journal on my down time. When my Fixer came with his family to visit me, we were give great service by the Team.

Godfrey also took me to the Maun Airport and we had a lovely time. This was at no extra charge but PLEASE TIP !

Breakfast was laid out in the morning. You can also order an English Breakfast for a little more. Lunch, dinner and drinks are also available.

The Lodge is not in walking distance to Maun or any store. It is a place to relax and chill - but rides can be arranged at the front desk.

If you take a walk, there is a beautiful river - there is also a place where the hippos are you must not go alone. Ask Godfrey to go with you.

When you are in Botswana - be generous. The people work hard and are happier than most of us - with a lot less to show. They have big hearts and show kindness to visitors. I dont think there is such a thing as "rude" there.

Get to know them. There was a Canadian couple who I would run into - I watched them treat the workers in a way that made me cringe.

When you go abroad - treat people as equals. I saw behaviors in Africa from Austrialians, Americans, British mostly....that disturbed me.

I went to Africa to make friends and I have friends for life.

Love you guys at Mochaba.!!!

We stayed 4 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our comfortable twin beds in our standard tent. The ablution block needed some plumbing attention asxonevofvthe shower roses was missing. The floor was dusty and leafy but all the toilets flushed and there was good hot water. We were happy.
Meals at the dining room were excellent from a small selection. Well priced. Bar available. Trips excellent and on time snd wellguided.
Moremi Game Reserve is 90 minutes drive away..sandy roads, but Mochaba Crossing is only 30 mins from Maun on tar road.
Sleep is excellent but dawn brings African noises- roosters crowing, donkeys, dogs and puppies when we were there, francolins, cows let slonevother birds. Wonderful !

Mochaba Crossing needs some work on all aspects other than location. Great location and nice grounds. And nice physical plant; poorly maintained. I stayed there in February this year for 10 days traveling alone, and 3 days in April this year with my wife and 3 friends, my wife was there for 3 days in March this year. A good sample and we really wish it had worked but...Service is poor at dining. Staff is very nice and they try but they have no guidance and little training. They would be great in a good lodge with some support. Food is poor. Main area is poorly maintained, their internet reservation service is non- existent, front desk email and phone is often down. Only way to communicate some of the time is for me to call from US and send friends in Maun by in person to see front desk. Crazy. Breakfast served late and not on time. Main area men's and women's bathroom in main area do not really work. No soap, no towels. this has been the case for 3 months. Some rooms have only one key so if you leave for the day with your key, there is no way to access your room for service. Laundry service is good. Credit card reader was out when we were there in April so we had to arrange for payment when we passed thru Maun after trip into Delta.

Arrived wet and bedraggled having aborted our plans to camp in Moremi. 8 of us turned up and we were given help to dry our wet things, electric for our fridges, and lovely rooms. As the lodge was quiet we stayed 2 nights, they offered us a discount for the second night. As we had turned up with no booking the food available was limited, however they cooked our eggs for breakfast. The second night there were lots of choices. One of vehicles had caught fire, the staff were helpful with calls to help us sort the problem

This is a great lodge with a variety of accommodation types. I stayed in their tented accommodation. It is within close proximity to the Merremi Reserve. They also conduct trips I to the Okavango Delta - including overnight bushstays.

Meals are good and there is a well-stocked bar.

This was our first time staying at Mochaba Crossing. Unfortunately we had to stay in the tents as the chalets were all full. The tents were a big disappointment. They are not much cheaper than the chalets yet they have limited space and there is hardly any room to walk around the bed to get to the bathroom. The positioning of the shower is in direct view of the opening of the tent so you don't have any privacy at all. However everyone in our group who stayed in the chalets were very happy as the chalets were spacious and clean. The staff at Mochaba Crossing are super helpful and friendly. They serve up a great breakfast as well as a lovely dinner. The wifi wasn't so great but then you are out in the middle of nowhere! The position of Mochaba Crossing is ideal if you want to get an early start to go into Moremi Game Reserve. We would definitely stay here again if we could stay in a chalet. It is always a pleasure dealing with friendly, helpful and well-trained staff.

Thank you for taking time to give us your review after staying with us at Mochaba Crossing Lodge. We have noted your concerns regarding available space in the luxury tents and we will look at the best way to create more space by altering furniture and or bed sizes. The cover between the bedroom and bathroom is usually rolled up for easy access to the bathroom. We now highlight this at check in for clients booked in the tents as indeed the opening looks like it has no cover when it is rolled up. Our apologies as this was not highlighted to you at check in. We are also in the process of having our WiFi upgraded so as to improve coverage to all corners of the lodge to ensure maximum connectivity for our guests. Once again thank you for your valuable feedback and compliments and apologies for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay with us. We will continue to make improvements aimed at making your stay more comfortable at Mochaba Crossing Lodge.

Hi, what would be the expected taxi fare from Maun airport? Or alternatively, is self driving to be advised?
Answer from Gill P
Cheltenham, United Kingdom55 contributions36 helpful votes
Taxi would be possible, not sure of the cost, I would contact the lodge as they may be able to offer you transport and game viewing in Moremi. You would need a 4x4 if you are self driving.
