All in all the staff was friendly, it has great potential if only appliances could be upgraded... Although the WiFi was working it could be better bt maybe that's the network provider's issue.... The air-conditioning wasn't working and there was only one type of socket i couldn't charge my PC coz it had different pins... And the bathrooms too they're functional but they really need a makeover as well but besides that i had a peaceful stay

The location is central to the town amenities. The hotel needs a little tender love and care. The staff though young have the potential to be hospitable with experience. Would recommend for budget short stays.

A little concerned when we arrive at TRL, the main gate and parking seemed very run down. Greeted by helpful staff and were quickly checked in.
Off on the hunt to find our rooms. The site is very large with different style rooms all over the place, lucky we were not walking around with heavy bags.

The room was large but aged. Bathroom needs updating and it would have been nice if the TV had a functioning remote.

The far end executive rooms are the most spacious. Rooms are clean and for a night away from home in Africa it's not bad. They have restaurant where you can have dinner and some drinks. Service is not that great.

Their breakfast is good though and better than many other places I have stayed in Bots.

Navigating around Francistown isn't easy, but Tati River Lodge is very easy to find. The gate guard welcomed us with a friendly smile, and there is plenty of parking at reception. Service at the reception itself was a bit slow, though, and the tinny, little speaker mounted on the roof was a bit loud. Once checked in, finding the room was challenging because the signage isn't great. It would probably have been better to go back to reception and ask for directions, but we found the bar and asked for directions there instead. Like reception, service at the bar and the restaurant is slow. The menu is a bit meagre, but the beers were cold and the food was hot, which isn't always the case in Botswana! The room was clean, and the air-conditioner worked well, but I really would have appreciated a slightly newer and firmer mattress. In the evening, the wifi was a bit dodgy, but very good when I woke up in the morning after a good night's sleep. A good IT specialist would probably sort that out in a few hours. Back to the restaurant in the morning, the breakfast was very good. So all in all, the Tati River Lodge is a good choice for a short stay, bed and breakfast, but it is worth looking around for somewhere else in Francistown to have sundowners and dinner, and there are better lodges a bit out of town if you are staying longer.

Driving from a fantastic holiday in the North of Botswana back home to Gaborone we left it a bit late to find a lodge with vacancies so we could split our journey. Tati River Lodge seemed to fulfill our requirements, and had room for us. Now I know why. After arriving from a sweaty six hour journey we met a very pleasant receptionist who was happy to help us with forms etc. That was the high point. Dark, dirty room, curtains that didn't move, scurrying insects, a pull out bed for our children that was dirty, sagging and set up in the 'kitchen', a bathroom none of us could bring ourselves to venture into, the most disgusting swimming pool I've ever seen (green, with floating insects) and the most miserable restaurant ever. As a stopover from Kasane to Gabs, only marginally better than sleeping in the car. Never again.

The hotel is located on the banks of the Tati River in a lush, quiet surburb of the city of Francistown. The welcome was magnificent. As I was driving in from Victoria Falls,i was running a bit late so when i realized that i was going to arrive after the check in cut off time i called the hotel and let them know and they didn't have a problem with that, they just said we will be waiting for you drive safely.
when I got there i realized that i had been offered a standard room but when i checked in I requested to be upgraded to an executive room and they happily did that for me.
The check in staff were very courteous and helpful

We spent the weekend and found the experience very average. The hotel and rooms need a make over as there does not seem to have been much maintenance done over the last few years.

The breakfast, dinner, service and experience was all in all, decidedly average.

Can't say we will be rushing back.

Tati River Lodge is located about 3-4 km SW from Francistown city centre. The rooms are of average size and clean. There is ample car parking for visitors. There is a restaurant which offers a reasonable range of local foods. Accommodation includes breakfast. Breakfast is okay and the atmosphere pleasant. A quite place to spend a few nights.

Can only echo previous reviews of this tired property, conveniently located on the outskirts of Francistown. Our party of six arrived dusty and tired after 700 k on the road to the news that the hotel had no record of our reservation . . . Despite holding a confirmation message and number from reputed travel intermediary, we were treated by duty manager to a lecture on reservation processes before indifferently being shown to motel style rooms with only the most basic amenities and of dubious cleanliness. One room had no functioning bathroom window, hot water only from the cold tap and all were in dire need of re-grouting, patching up and a good scrub.

The experience was completed by a vastly over-priced, barely-edible meal in the restaurant--only because we were too exhausted to drive elsewhere--notable chiefly for lack of selection, leathery meat and outrageously priced wine, not to mention the karaoke evening on the terrace outside (which is equally audible from the rooms) . . . At least service in the restaurant is friendlier than that at reception!

All in all, a dispiriting experience in a wonderful country--definitely not to be recommended.

"The rooms at the far end of the property facing the river are probably in the best location and the first floor would give you a view of the usually dry river bed."
