Nestled on the edge of the traditional village of Khwai, Khwai Guest House offers amazingly affordable safari lodging to travelers both looking for a cosy base for their bush exploration of Botswana and eager to get acquainted with local community living in remote wilderness.
A good place to stay and our excellent guide Pako made the trip even better. However, the bar ran out of beer and one night there was a shortage of food which is unacceptable. But overall the food was excellent and the rooms were kept tidy so to conclude a recommendable place.

We had a fanastic stay at KGH. The rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast by the camp fire was fun although you needed a head torch to see what you were eating! Chatting around the camp fire in the evening was great. The staff were friendly and food was delicious. The game drives were amazing, we managed to see a leopard which was so exciting! The mokoro safari was both relaxing and thrilling. There's so much to do from this camp. Loved it!

We searched for a long time to find an affordable option to stay in the Moremi/Kwai area. All the lodges were very high priced for a family of four. Then I stumbled upon the Khwai Guest House, which seemed to be a good alternative option. It turned out to be a very good choice! It is called a guest house, and the rates are according, but the service, activities and staff are exactly like in the big lodges. The 2 managers Virginiah and Max were very welcoming. They sit with you around the fire in the morning and evening and always ask how your day was, without being intrusive. The trip was to celebrate 5 years of marriage and they surprised us with a bottle of champagne and a personal note! The rooms were very neat and the housekeeping lady was amazing. She was very helpfull, decorated our beds like little works of art and became friends with my two boys who loved to chat with her. As we had a family room we had two neighbouring rooms with a whole tented sitting area in between. Nicely decorated and with a sofa. Very practical that we could go to the boys room without having to step outside. The activities were great. We did a night Safari and morning Safari with Jeremy. He knows all about the animals. We saw a group of hyenas, a bush baby, a leopard and many more. But you can also just do a selfdrive in the Khwai concession or Moremi if you prefer that. The food was buffet style. It was rather simple, maybe the only difference with a lodge, but very tastefull and each night there was a different chef. The staff gave us a diner and a show as they came to sing and dance for us before dinner. Everyone loved it. There is a very nice sitting area with a bar. If you are still doubting if this is a good choice. Don’t! you will love it And we never had a better price / quality rate than here …

We arrived here by accident. We got stuck in the Moremi and the guys from Khwai guest house came to rescue us. Again thousand time thanks for that! What a surprise to stay here! Very beautiful rooms and lovely cosy main area. The staff was very friendly and the food very good! Sitting together with staff and other guests around the fire was a moment to remember. The price very ok when I compare with other places we stayed. We did a mokoro trip.....very nice. I really recommend this place!

Book your visit now- you honestly won’t regret it. I wasn’t sure what to expect as our travel agent had booked this accommodation but it was AMAZING. They offer what is truly a boutique experience. You don’t need to “call reception.” You walk outside to the fire or the dining area and can ask Max or DT or Virginiah. We had between 4-8 guests total there while we were visiting and it made it so much more intimate. We knew everyone but all had our own tables at dinner. And the food is frankly exceptional. Very flavorful with local flavors that also feel familiar. Dinner every night is three courses and there is always fresh made bread. The upkeep of the rooms was also great. It wasn’t just doing a light upkeep. They would organize our shoes together and there was the early daily cleaning along with the turndown service during evening. Basically this is marketed as a “budget accommodation” but the service is anything but. We were actually sad to leave as we knew everyone. If you can request someone to assist you with game drives, I would highly recommend Jeremy as well. Finally I know some reviews from years ago mentioned there being no WiFi but I’m happy to report there is WiFi now. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!…

Very lovely lodge/guesthouse! Service, staff, meals and everything else is fantastic. We enjoyed 2 nights and wished we would have booked more. The game drives were perfect and the hosts, Moss and Max were very nice. We can only recommend this place, it was just wonderful. We enjoyed the breakfast at the Boma as well as after dinner - sitting around the fire, listening to the animals was just amazing.

The KGH is located close to the Moremi north gate, but also close to the Khwai concession, borg of which have great Wildlife and nature. Inside the camp the accomodations are spacious and very comfortable. However, the best feature are the staff who are friendly, helpful an knowledgeable (Max is a great guide)! A big recommendation!

It was very hot in the hut during the day. The big fan they provide helps a lot. If you can stay at North Gate campsite instead - it will be much cooler at night as the clay hut keeps the heat for a long time even when it is already chilly outside. The place is within the village so expect some noise (late at night it was very quiet, though). The food was very nice and plentiful. Moremi North Gate is a five-minute drive away. Buy your permits in advance in Maun if you want to enter the park very early. We arrived at 5:30 (opening time in October) and there was nobody there to buy a permit until 7!!!

Super friendly staff and a very familial atmosphere. The guesthouse is situated outside of the surrounded national parks (Moremi / Savuti), so no park fees have to be paid on top. I haven’t booked an accommodation at the guesthouse as I was on a 4x4 camping trip. Due to the fact I cannot really say anything about the accommodation itself, just about the surroundings and the staff. I got stuck with my car at the guesthouse and they were really extraordinary helpful! Best place to have a broken car 🤷🏻♂️. As my satellite phone wasn’t working somehow, they organized everything with the repair shop of Bushlore in Maun. They took care of any kind of communication and as the technician arrived they helped him fixing my car. People in the bush help each other - an amazing experience for me! During the time all organization and time to repair my car, they organized as well that someone gave me a ride to the Mokoro boat station, so that I could do my Mokoro trip which was booked in advance. When I returned from my Mokoro trip, cold beverages were offered. I didn’t expect that much help, as I haven’t booked anything at the guesthouse but they were helping anyway. About the facilities which I‘ve seen I can see the public restroom is in a very good shape and completely clean. The reception and the selfservice restaurant area is clean und looks very cozy and comfortable. I spend a lot of time in this area during the time I was forced to wait for the technician. From all these points I can really state that I can recommend this guesthouse! It’s very rare to meet such helpful and friendly people, taking care of people even if they are not their customers!!…
